One of the better ads in awhile

This ad is basically saying now is the start of a new era for apple. I think its pretty dang good compared to any Windows commercial saying "start something" or whatever it is.

waste of money

What a waste of money.
It doesn't say anything particularly appealing or differentiating or energizing.
It's an intel ego trip.
Maybe intel paid for the ad.

In the keynote, he actually showed that ad twice. A bit much, perhaps? He asked the audience if they wanted to see it again after about 20 minutes, I think they clapped politely.

There's no such thing as bad publicity! :p ;)

I definitely noticed the same thing. Got some lag throughout (no surprise), but the quality was very, very good on my cable connection w/ latest Quicktime.

And, the ad is great. :D

Yes the streaming video quality was fantastic. A huge improvement from last year. I was able to watch it double size and it still looked OK.:D

Gotta toss up a negative on this ad.

....

Um, lets see, nearly every feature film for the last 10 years has been made on intel chips, and nearly every single game over the last 10 years have been developed using intel chips.

You can embellish all you want, but can't stand others to do the same, can you?

anyone knows the title of the song played on the new ipod + itunes ad?

Doesnt it say the Artist and song right in the ad? Maybe its the album, I wouldnt know, I dont listen to that dude.

Postal Service Video

Anyone else think it's absurdly similar to the video for the Postal Service's Such Great Heights?

There's a moment in this Apple ad where two of the workers match eyes while passing off a wafer that's lifted straight from the video. Most of the shots of the wafer arms moving around are from the exact same angle as well.

Suspicious.

Yes that definitely sounds like Jack Bauer in the voiceover...and the female technician... is that... Nina?

Yeah, how about you ****ing buy your music like the rest of us, you leeching ass.

LOL, and share your sentiment, as thought previous poster was treading on thin ground with that link. Scrolling through the comments you hit me out of the blue with yours, TFT. :D

I'd lie to see Apple do 2 ads:

1. Dig out the old Pentium snail ad and have someone squash it with their foot.

2. An iPod silhouette type ad for Intel Macs to capitalize on the iPod craze.

I think the ad came across as a little stupid. I guess it will wow the large masses, but it didn't really do it for me. "Dull boxes"? Yeah, PCs are often pretty generic looking. "Dull tasks"? Excuse me? That line just made me laugh when watching the commercial and I'm guessing that this wasn't really what they had in mind with it.

On the plus side, it's very nicely produced.

I like the ad BUT I'm not sure they're going to do much for the average consumer.

Do average consumers understand Intel without the words 'Centrino', 'Pentium IV' or that darned 'dadada dum' chime? Will it mean much to them? They've been told for years that all the fun things they can do on their PCs happen because of Intel - I'm not sure that they're going to think that they're are dull as they believe (work ones, sure!)

Does it show them any of the fun things? Nope... just what to an uneducated eye like a computer monitor. Let's hope it's the first of several...

Yes, I agree. I get the feeling that ad was for all the fanboys who know what this all means for Apple. I hope they then go on to target consumers and show them what it can do, and how easy it is to do it. That's what will get the general public buying in numbers that will affect their market share.

I loved this ad personally, it made me laugh a little, but I can imagine what my family and probably most average non-geeks are gonna think when/if they see this on TV.. ethier:

"What??" - (Which actually may be a good thing if they're now curius about macs)

-or-

*nothing at all* - like we all do to most ads

But hey atleast it says "Mac" in it :D

It's a really good looking ad - all that white and the cleanliness of the fab that they're supposed in. Add in some great Moby music and the guttural voice of Kiefer Sutherland and there you go.

I also like the theme of the ad - the whole "poor Intel processors stuck in a mouldy old PC, stick them in a Mac and see them fly" thing.

Did anyone else notice that the CPU they show appears to be socketed (look for the metal screw next to the processor). Does this mean that Intel Macs can have CPU upgrades, like "normal" PCs?

Am I the only one who's QuickTime Pro/Safari crashes (or rather, gets a non-stop spinning beachball) when trying to save the file?

I just updated/rebooted (as required), is QT 7.0.4 bugged? :(
quick small QuickTime file at http://www.postalservicemusic.net/ in the download section, for those of you that don't want to wait for WMP to buffer

they had to of ask to use this, if not, expect the apple ad to vanish very quickly
