I'm working at a company reselling IT.

I just talked to a Lenovo rep, he's stating there new series will not launch before MID september, due to manufaturing delays at INTEL. They where sceduled to mid august.

Will this affect the new MB/MBP?

My initial thouhgts where C*ap....

Maybe Apple bought all chips in advance?
Wouldn't be the first time actually.

Has anyone considered the Apple Expo in Paris as the possible time for a revised Macbook Pro? Some time between September 17 - September 20 is not unreasonable for an update, and Apple may be willing to wait for an already publicized event. Plus they announced the G5 iMacs there a few years back.

It's just a thought, I'm aware that other factors may point to other dates, but I hadn't seen this theory out there yet.

Apple isn't attending the Paris show this year:

And no, it's not reasonable, because of people like me, waiting to adopt a Macbook before school starts. :)

I guess LED and aluminium won't be big argument with the new MacBooks.
Also, what's so positive about being thinner? Running hotter?
These Apple laptops didn't need to be thinner than an iBook G4's thickness.
1.35". 1.35". It's not that bad. I have an iBook G4 and the last thing I complain about is how thick it is.

If the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros are scheduled for an event, then Apple will most likely announce them with a shipping date of "September" or whatever.

Companies like Best Buy can't wait until a September refresh. They have already been without Macbook shipments for two weeks on this Tuesday.

Really? I know this thread started with the rumor of decreased macbooks to Best Buy, but have we confirmed that they are now completely without shipments? I hope so... this update can't come soon enough.

After the experience of myself and others with Lenovo representatives, I trust the brand about as far as I can throw it.

The decreased shipments is supposed to keep the macbook numbers around zero so when the new ones are released they can save money by not having to ship the old ones back and Apple can't afford to have Best Buy in low numbers (possibility to losing customers) for a month so I think it will be a lot closer than you think.

I found this from February so it might help spread some light on what they are doing.

Here's hoping for next Tuesday! Or the Tuesday after that! Or the next! Any longer than that, I might have to settle for an Asus or something.

Whether or not you like/trust Lenovo or any other manufaturer is not really the point. What I was reffering to was, if one manufacturer i delayed, how likely is that Apple will be aswell.

Lenovo is one of the bigger players...

it being a bigger player might make it and apple totally different situations. FOr instance, if Apple thinks it'll only need X amount of chips until September whereas Lenovo think's it'll need XXXXXX chips, it should wait so it doesn't run out whereas the current quantity may satisfy apple's need. But I really don't know anything about manufacturing so I might be way off on this. I just hope it comes soon, as in before school. The 29th would be awesome!

I'm super worried about the store running out the MBPs within the first day of their release. Hopefully not, but look at the iphone. However the iphone is $199 whereas the MBP is $1999+.

I just really don't want to get the apple store and have them say, sorry we're out!
Does anyone know if you can call and hold a product, even if you have to leave a credit card #. Cause I'd totally call in the morning then go get it. I'm worried I'll be working the day of. :(

and not inline

As long as nothing MAjor happens i'm fine with it for example, if there is a new shell then i'll be a little upset, but I still have a great machine.

Ok, im really hurting here. I need a new computer, I want to get a mac, but I cannot risk getting one and then see a brand new and improved one on the market. Is there like some date that we should deff. know if they are changing something. I have been hearing Aug 7.

No date is a certainty unless Apple says. And so far we have not seen or heard anything concrete from Apple about this matter.

No clue, I think soon but just like you (and a bunch of other people) I find this wait slowly killing me. I want a Macbook and an iPod touch like you couldn't believe. I also think my hardware is trying to push me away slowly because now everything on my desktop is starting to go so the pressure is ever growing haha.

I feel I'm slowly going insane. I can't keep doing this. Something needs to happen soonnn.
