Apple might be concerned that an updated 20" would make the 23" and 30" look bad when they're side-by-side in the store.

They may wait until they can update all three to current technology.

Lets hope they will do it soon, though this event would be right for such an update to happen. The 23" are just the right size for many people here but they are of not as good quality as one would want them to be. Also, a bit lower price won't hurt either.

question for you...

Alright than!! Jheeeee.
Just sold my dual 2.7 two weeks ago thought there might be something faster soon!!!! ( Never fast enough :D )
Flinstone - if the dual 2.7 wasn't fast enough, then what are you doing now without it?

If you were depending on the system for your paycheck, I'd think that you'd keep making money on the dual 2.7 until something faster was shipped to you - not sell it on a rumour!

I just don't understand all the posts from people who sit around with no computer, because they sold their last one because it wasn't fast enough and they're waiting and hoping for something better.

Does it make more sense with a glass of Kool-Aid ?

Not Photoshop, Photo Pro

Yeah, you're spot on. Adobe have refined their Photoshop (With tons of feedback from Photographers/illustrators/designers etc.) over many years, if (IF) Apple made a better version then people would be on it, wether they could is another matter, to get anywhere close they would have to develop it with the help of Adobe, i doubt that would happen.

Sorry if I'm going of track because i have not read anything in this thread but presume there is a rumour of Apple releasing a photoshop.

Diddnt work that well with pages did it

Apple doesn't want to dump Adobe completely. Yet. Photo Pro is an organizer, according to ThinkSecret (a big rumor a while back, but Macrumors missed it). It's like iPhoto, only very well integrated into external editors (live updating thumbnails, for instance), and with fine-grained control of printing and importing. We'll see, but I'm almost positive its coming ($99?). This would let Apple enter graphic art business without touching ANY of Adobe's products.

I think he sold it now because he is going to get more for it as a current model than for a older model, and this update looks like is going to be really huge, which is going to make his current model even less valuable.
If the low end PM are to have Dual 970MP then he would have to price his below that one as it will be not as fast or impressive any more.

well you know what they say - there is no two without a three - i can't wait to watch the video cast - this is like the the lord of the rings only you don't have to wait three years to know everything - maybe this was supposed to have been released at paris but apple decided to do it this way - gotta love it :p :D

You waited three years to see what happened in Lord Of The Rings?

You do know that it was based on books by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien and published in 1954?

You could have saved yourself a lot of time and skipped to the last page of The Return of the King :D

2. I have said and said and said since the innovation of iPhoto and wifi -- connect them! Apple should release an Apple-branded wifi picture frame. White or black with a silver apple logo and the ability to hang the frame on the wall and see changing photo shows, etc. And, with iPhoto, make pictures updatable anywhere -- like anyone can type in a .mac address to see a slideshow? Let grandma in Florida type in an address and see the grandkids photos on her frame.

How cool would that be? That was my idea years and years ago. What an innovation it would be!
Ceiva doesn't yet support broadband or WiFi, but realistically neither do most Grandmas. This product simply plugs into Grandma's phone jack and dials in for photos in the middle of the night. Very 1998 but also pretty Grandma-proof. I've wished for a broadband/WiFi frame for myself, but frankly I'm glad that my Mom & Grandma in Florida don't have to figure out any home networking (Grandma doesn't even have a computer!) in order for their Ceivas to work perfectly right out of the box.

What if?

Maybe it is that I just woke up, but what if Apple puts out the first Intel based machines next week?? They have been working on it for probably the switch for the past 4-5 months (or longer, who knows when Steve made his discision). How hard can it be? They know that they have to upgrade the professional lines which have had meger at best upgrades over the past 2 years.. They have hired more technicians. Everyone is waiting until January for Yonah to appear, but wouldn't it be smart of Apple to put a Intel Based chip like the current Centrino chip into a laptop, get some (maybe 30-40%) speed increase over current models, and work out any issues, then in March come out with Yonah and in October come with Meron? Apple has already showed at MWSF that they have OS for it already. It seems odd for Apple to call a media event next week for small processor upgrades if any. Now wouldn't this just blow everyone away??

It was discussed in the forums and discounted as probably bogus.

i do the same thing. i pay my credit cards off as soon as the bill arrives. i have read though, that this is frowned upon by the credit bureaus. it has something to do with them thinking you can't maintain a monthly bill so you pay it all off very quickly. not sure if i buy into that or not.

You are right on. The credit bureaus dont like, it because nobody makes money doing that. The sad thing is, to make good credit, you have to pay for it...in interest. It's sad how it works, but what doesn't require money these days??

not gonna happen.

Why do I keep reading that there's no software ready for MacIntels? Truth is we simply don't know. Some xcode based developers are probably ready to go; others will follow very quickly, except for Quark who'll probably take a few years

Well... I will want to see 7448s in them, but I will be VERY HAPPY if they aren't inside. I will just postpone my purchase, and save it for a superior Intel based PB rather than splurge it on some outdated PowerPC trash! ;)

iMac G5 became slim... Maybe this could mean a real chance to see a Low Voltage G5 in the PowerBooks...

it became slim on the "edges", the center is still thick.

I know, but it wasn't featured on the front page or even Page 2. The fact that this is on the even of PhotoPlus lends this rumor a bit of new credibility.

Jhea that would be very stupid indeed!!! ;) But i am now on a holiday and will be away for two more weeks. By the way i did not depend on that machine for my paycheck. I still have two other mac's where i can slide my working hard-drive in, not that fast but the 2.7 isn't that much faster anyway. :D

Did you guys read the article on Thinksecret about the CS3 details and Apple's Photo Pro. It was back in August, and I think it is VERY possible we will see it at this event. Should be a fun time

Anyone know what time this thing is on?

I haven't seen anything confirmed yet. Perhaps 10 AM PDT again like this past week? Mind you, maybe it will be 12 PM instead, since this one is in NY as opposed to the last one which was in California... Depends how APple wants to handle it. I'm sure we'll find out in the next couple of days...
