Well, Apple just said it isn't.

People in the thread have such a narrow conception of a computer to the point of: oh only if the something runs Final Cut Pro is the something a computer. So it means that only Macs made in the last 8 years are computers, everything else claiming to be computers are merely various arrays of abacuses tied to tin cups with bits of string.
What people really mean though is that the iPad is not a Mac. But a computer, the iPad certainly is.
I still have a ten year old laptop computer (Dual Core CPU, 3GB RAM) in the house and I’m sorry to break it to you but this iPad Pro 2021 can do far more than that laptop can now. That laptop has a meltdown if I have more than one window open.Um no the ad is misleading. That’s the issue. So many people will not know the limitations of iPadOS, buy the iPad based on thinking they can replace their 10 year old laptop computer, and then be disappointed for wasting their money.
Leaving the tech aside, dividing the world between solitary losers and cool people is a childish fetiche. And makes you think that buying a product will save you from the darkness of being yourself. Looks like a cliche ad appeal from the 80s. Or maybe I’m old. Or possibly both.
No, Microsoft is the king of BS.Apple is king of BS with all the wires. PCs have wireless too with printers, keyboard, mouse, low latency speakers, etc. but sometimes wired is preferred for reliable 10Gb or even 2.5Gb ethernet.
I'm hoping you meant Apple Silicon, not silicone. Two different things.Using an iPad Pro with M1 silicone to get Pro work done is like using a half a million dollar supercar to make your weekly supermarket shopping.
No real productivity software? I use Affinity Photo on my iPad as much as I use it on iMac, and it runs faster on my iPad.I love my Ipads. But they are not laptops, they are not full computers, no matter how more powerful the CPUs are, the iPads OS is just not a computer OS. No real windows, no real productivity software due to app store, which is not an "applications store". No easy file manager, no easy way to organize thousannds of files and folders. Sorry, it is not designed to be a computer replacement. The M1 iPad is just overkill for that simplistic OS. And I Love my ipads and my iMac and my MacBooks. Is just that Ipad OS is so lacking to be seriously considered as productivity computer. For some things is ok, buT
Mostly just for consumption. Even no calculator default app!IMHO, after using Ipads since the 1st one.
I have to agree with what I boldfaced, because if you have to take an ad so seriously as to use disgusting descriptions....Leaving the tech aside, dividing the world between solitary losers and cool people is a childish fetiche. And makes you think that buying a product will save you from the darkness of being yourself. Looks like a cliche ad appeal from the 80s. Or maybe I’m old. Or possibly both.
Yep, keyboard autocorrect thing.I'm hoping you meant Apple Silicon, not silicone. Two different things.
Nothing in the add says the folks with pcs are “solitary losers” and the folks with ipads are “cool people.” The ad says the people with pcs are stuck indoors, shackled to wall outlets, and the folks with ipads are free to enjoy the outdoors and move about.Leaving the tech aside, dividing the world between solitary losers and cool people is a childish fetiche. And makes you think that buying a product will save you from the darkness of being yourself. Looks like a cliche ad appeal from the 80s. Or maybe I’m old. Or possibly both.
A decade or so ago I used to use Evernote for all sorts of note-taking and record-keeping purposes and thought it was great.I'm older than some redwoods so I don't need the high-power computer I still like to use. I tried the 2020 - 12.9, but it didn't do enough, so I sent it back. I just ordered the 2021 - 12.9 for another try, based on iOS15. These are the apps and features that I use, and except for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, they should work on the iPad. If not, back it goes.

I agree with you on Evernote. They have made more frequent updates and they have significantly improved the search function to be more wildcard-like. Still, I find myself just using the basic stuff. I have a ton of notes in there with cross-links to websites, so I'm inclined to keep it. Then again, as a paid member; I'm not sure about moving forward. When I add up all of my subscription rates, I get sick. 🤮A decade or so ago I used to use Evernote for all sorts of note-taking and record-keeping purposes and thought it was great.
But then feature creep and what seemed like a constantly changing user interface (and different subscription models) made it less friendly (for me) to the point where I gave up and went with Apple Notes. Back then Notes was pretty basic/minimal. But it being uncluttered sure felt a lot better than Evernote. Since then Notes has evolved, but in a good way, keeping the uncluttered UI and easy access.
That's one app Apple got right. At least for my needs.
