Unfortunately I'm ready to make a purchase of desktop computers and if there isn't a new MP we will be moving out of the Apple ecosystem, which will mean lost future sales of laptops and phones.

And, as in the past, clients often ask us what we use and why. We used to gladly recommend Apple to clients, friends and family. Bad news travels 10x faster than good news.

I'm just a little guy with a small business but I need a COMPUTER company I can rely on for equipment and doesn't neglect or even just abandon customers.

Personally I think the OLED "smart strip" is a gimmick and I can't be bothered by that kind of distraction, also REALLY hoping it ends up on the "new 13" MacBook" (crossing fingers real tight). I personally think esthetically it defeats all original MacBook Pro genius engineering feats. It's just too gimmicky and reminds me of the BLADE gaming laptops with their idiotic buttons and touch display on the keyboard area, it failed BIG TIME and ridiculously ugly. I'm not going to sell my late 2013 15" maxed out retina for these new models, I'll wait till next October to sell.

Werid..I just got an email about fcpx summit at Cupertino being held the same day with Mac keynote...interesting.

A 2 hour event to announce just three new laptops? Hmmm............
What rule says it has to be 2 hours? The April event was exactly 1-hour and all they released was a 9.7" iPad Pro everyone knew was coming, Watch bands, and the 4" entry level iPhone SE.

I expect this event to be similar in length, and it should certainly appease everyone who has been patiently waiting for a new MacBook Pro, but will leave desktop Mac users disappointed for at least another few months.

The calendar invite that Apple sent along with the event notification was for a 2 hour block.

Calling it now - 13", 15" and 17" MacBook Pros with gaming-grade video cards. Apple didn't like it to much when they were called out for having sub-par graphics. VR & AR are up and coming they need machines that can handle it.

I don't think this is going to happen, but I hope it does. Something like that could sway me from not buying at all to possibly upgrading from my 2012 cMBP. But I will likely end up keeping my current MBP for another 3 years or so before upgrading anyhow. It's plenty fast after I replaced the crappy hard drive with a 1TB SSD.

It is well communicated what devices are being released. It is somewhat communicated the port count and variety will drop. (Dongle?) The delay related to Intel is sad but a long term fact.

We may see (multiple) A series chips in Macs sooner than later to start the uphill battle to replace Intel and the downhill battle for fast annual updates with notable speed increases, and new feature sets.

Weird timing, as Kaby Lake chips have started to come out, but the 15-inch MBP will have to get Skylake instead since we're pretty much in between two releases. Either way, we're more than overdue for updated MBPs.

Does every Mac release thread have to have someone who beats the Kaby drum. Last year it was the Skylake drum so what will it be next year?

Go back and read the other threads, the only advantage to Kaby might be the graphics processor. No advantage in battery life, computation speed, heat....

Oh did I forget to state; Apple is not between two releases they are on schedule with an October/Fall event and this time it's the MBP.

Now let me ask, are you in the market for a new MBP or just looking to complain about something?

Personally I'm in the market for a new MBP that is almost as light as the 12" rMB. I have found a need for the extra speed of the MBP but don't want the extra pound of the current model.

I need computers from an established, reliable computer company. Apple is clearly moving away from 'computers' per se, and toward consumer electronic gadgets.

Clearly they just signed a long term partnership with IBM for a reason...

13, 15, 17 rMBP?

"Hello again" = hello again to the 17 inch?

It's Hello again to all Macrumor people like us dying for any news on the Mac!

No Mac Pro. No Mini. No iMac.

Apple has turned into a fashion gimmick company, and they're more interested in making iPhones and $15,000 watches.

The iPhone is a great device, but it's become the company's bread and butter. The Mac is dying.

Which sucks, because people need Macs to develop for iOS. Letting the Mac stagnate means flipping off your iOS developer base.
Pretty sure you can develop for iOS just fine on the current Macs. And the Macs from last year. And 4 years ago.

Although they do manage to pad it out, I remember at the last event, they'd done everything with 40 minutes left to go, which got me excited because I was sure that time was going to be taken by new MBP announcements, but they managed to waffle through it.

What's with the step back on the brilliant Magsafe conector?

I cannot count the number of times that has saved my MBP from destruction.

Hopefully, they've managed to come up with some kind of hybrid receptacle. One that connects regular USB-C plugs normally but can also magnetically hold on to a more shallow connector.

If color is what matters then you are the quintessential Apple user and should just buy an iPad Pro.

I have an iPad pro that I am now selling because I use my 7 plus much more. I'd like to move to a smaller form factor than my current 2013 and only have 2 devices. I am hoping for a color change, but would likely upgrade to space grey if that's the only option, although I don't see why Apple wouldn't want to make the color options consistent. I am not sure what makes me a quintessential Apple user as you say. Does that mean that you are not? A little lost by your comment.
