I think the skeptics of the Apple Watch are viewing it as a replacement for phones, but it's not... not by a long shot. It's a closer-to-hand extension of said devices.

You nailed it. When the mobile scene was starting up in the 90's with the GRiDpad, Newton and early Palm devices, people were dubbing in PC functionality into these devices with small screens. Some even published spreadsheet and word processing apps for them. I see the same with the watch. Old habits die hard.

These ads are EXCELLENT. I like that they show a variety of locations, languages and people just generally enjoying their life while also using the watch. It's pretty clear from the videos that the Apple Watch is supposed to supplement your normal lifestyle and motivate you, rather than be an iPhone replacement. Great job Apple!

The thing with apple ads is they will always show "variety of people and locations". They don't really show
Remember when Apple use to make fun ads?

That must be american humor or something, to me they just look boring and childish. They're very 2000s

It's not that these new ads with their perpetually pro-minority multicultural adventurous and fit world are very nice IMO, but at least they don't try to be fun.

This may be a dumb question, but there is training for a 5k? What are the intervals? 1 mi, 2 mi, 3 mi?

Then how about you go and become a leading programmer and software engineer, and you go try and figure out how to fix all those problems?! You sound like such a whining, self-entitled little ____. This is a first-generation product, it's bound to have issues. Your whining makes it sound like the world will come to an end, get over yourself.

BTW, only bugs I get are the sunset / sunrise complication and location services issue. Happens once every few days, but it's not something I'd go whining about. All those problems you said I'd suggest you have a defective watch, so go get it replaced.

So you're saying I have no right to complain about anything until I am an expert in whatever field it is that I want to complain about. I find your reply ironic, given your signature.

Clearly I love my Watch. I even say so at the bottom of my post. That doesn't mean I have to drink the Apple Kool-Aid and pretend that issues don't exist.

Also, I'm glad that you don't have any other issues except for the sunrise/sunset problem, but hey - guess what? You don't represent the multitude of others who do have problems.

So, in future, if you've nothing helpful to contribute - don't bother. Live by your signature.

Yep.. Rev 1 (duh) and iOS2 is coming... Things are looking good and the watch is fantastic being this is first gen and about to quickly get immensely better. The bugs are not as bad as you're making them BTW, just sayin!

I don't buy the rev.1 as an excuse for an unpolished product, especially from Apple which then has ads that state hardware+software=harmony (or whatever that ad said).

If you haven't learned it yet, logical people are not always successful.

I have been around way too many disciplined logical geniuses totally broke with no creativity in their blood. But damn, they can run a spreadsheet or figure out the crowd size and average color hue of clothing worn to determine what music to play as a DJ.

The irrational ones with a good sense of ethics are the ones that cash in the most. Follow their vision and reap the rewards.

Exactly.

Only not, that's complete BS. Unethical people, with lots of ambition and intelligence, meaning intelligence not only being logical but recognizing the world isn't logical so the logical thing is to play the world's game and win because they see both sides, those are the ones.

Ask SJ, and reduce the flowerpower cool aid dose.

The only honest Apple Watch video:

Those ads seem pretty worthless to me. I didn't see anything in them that made me want to go drop a minimum of $349 to have that experience. The most cringe-worthy scene was the one where the kid is using a crayon to draw on the Apple Watch screen. I'm not sure why they showed that. Is that the preferred stylus for the watch?

IMO this current generation of smartwatches from Apple and Google are not smart at all. If you lose most if not all function once you are out of bluetooth range of the smartphone then the watch is just useless. I have a smartwatch but when I leave bluetooth range it still can do all functions and that's even without WiFi.

The new ads are cute, but it still illustrates the same feeling I have everyday when I strap my Apple watch to my wrist; that is, it's still the one device in my life I can easily live without.

Well, these ads have cemented the Apple Watch's uselessness for me.

I found these sorry commercials uninformative, nauseatingly politically correct and aimed at women.

It's no surprise that Apple's most odious adverts should coincide with the most vacuous period of their history: Tim Cook's fashion-led monstrosity.

At least, Apple can't get much worse. I like to look on the bright side.

Never said ethics were absolute.

Many demonized "unethical" individuals are some of the most smart working and hard working people out there with lots of envious enemies. The current Donald Trump trashing is a great example of this.

Buy the Apple Watch, it will change your life to the best. My Watch changing my habits, I am standing more, increasing my moving goal and I am going to fix this green circle, at least 15 min. as a start. Green circle is impossible to cheat — it is a real challenge.

Watch allowed me to use new kind of apps.

I am iOS developer, making an app for tracking caffeine with iOS 8 Health integration. I started with iPhone app. Week passed and I was forgetting / too lazy to add my caffeine samples. What the point of making an app if you don't use it? It all changed when I finished Apple Watch app. It works fast enough even with watchOS 1.0, and I am using it for a month every day. Never skipped a cup.

i think you just described every commercial ever

That would mean every commercial ever had the same effect on consumers which clearly isn't true. Some ads are highly polished, but forget to tell the consumer what they are suppose to be buying or why. Some ads look terrible and amateurish but still get the consumer to take action.

Personally, I think these ads are the former. They don't really make a strong case for non first adopters and they also don't show the connection between the iPhone and the AW, which is a bit deceiving and makes them bad ads just on that count. For example, the tourist vignettes -- Apple doesn't even attempt to educate the viewer that the AW has no GPS & would have buy an international data roaming package or local SIM (if there phone is unlocked). Apple just assume the viewer knows this, or that messages don't work with out a phone, etc.

How did that one person in the exercise commercial get the picture of the yoga on to the middle of the goal circle?
