¡Ay Dios Mio!

Just installed 4.1 on my iPhone 3G. My phone now seems as fast as I remember it being before 4.0. Thank you, Apple, for not forgetting about us 3G users.

I'm using ASU's WiFi and it's telling me it's going to take 88 minutes.

I get 1MB/sec download speeds for individual torrents on this network. Unbelievable.

iOS 4.1 iPhone 4

updated this with the GM release.

so far with 2 days of use:

- prox sensor issue definitely fixed.
- bluetooth seems to be better.
- garble with Microcell seems to have gone away.
- failed calls happens less.
- seems a little quicker in some app switching.

That's it so far.

No improvement with our 3G iphone with the new operating system. It still acts possessed.

In that case it would have probalby been best if Apple didn't release iOS 4 for the iPhone 3G. They could have released 3.x versions with security patches but leave the new features for the 3GS and 4. I think they did more damage than help by trying to squeeze iOS 4 into the 3G.

Agreed.

You're pants pocket won't activate the proximity sensor, no one's will. Unless your pants are made of peoples' ears/faces. Then you have other issues.

Also, you shouldn't be getting any screen touch events in your pocket, since there's nothing capacitive in there...at least there shouldn't be anything capacitive in your pocket.

Use the lock button.

Um, ya, it does select things while in my pockets and other friends with iPhone 4 have the same problem. I never had the issue with previous versions of the iPhone (of which I've had all but the original) so I just assumed it was related to the proximity sensor bug but it sounds like it is probably that the display is just more sensitive and even a tiny amount of moisture (like sweat) is enough to allow it to continue to function even when in a pocket.

In any event, yes, I know about the lock button at the top of the phone, so thanks for all of the smart ass and totally worthless replies.

Oh joy.

proximity sensor not fixed. Still putting people on hold. And yes I restored first.

Oh well just have to hold it different for another 22 months until the contract expires!

Now this is weird. I usually get a dialog telling me that my iPhone is successfully unlocked. That is until today. I have to find a different SIM now, to see and check if something was busted.

That's a worry.

My sister has my old 3G unlocked by O2 when I got my iPhone 4. Don't want to yell her the update is out if it knackers the unlock. Anyone else confirm this?

Green blob still there

I was really hoping that the green blob in fluorescent lighting camera issue was going to be resolved with this update. I figured with the HDR addition that the camera software would have been tweaked allowing the perfect opportunity to correct the issue.

I think I will be taking mine to the Apple store. I take too many pictures in fluorescent lighting to have to live with unusable photos.

is it possible to update my iphone 4 from a different computer the iphone is usually connected to? I am on the road and won't have access to the usual computer I use till the end of the week.

You can but you'll lose all your data i think because the phone/iTunes won't be able to back up your phone before restore. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

nope you can do it on another computer just fine. i did my bf's on my mac this morning since he forgot his at work.

They changed the color of the calculator app icon. Don't know why...don't like the lighter shade of brown :(

Or maybe they didn't and I'm just seeing things.

So transferring full HD videos via wi-fi is to MobileMe and YouTube only????

Do i still have to jump through hoops to get it on my computer?

You're on a 3G. 3 Year old phone. Get over it.

Some of us don't have $200-$300+ to burn on a new phone each year. Mine is from February 2009. My phone should not have less than half of the performance that it had when I bought it along with a two year contract.

I am managing my own memory on this stupid thing like it's an old computer system from the '80s, where system memory was a very expensive and limited resource.

While the recession might be over, many of us working folks have not seen a cost of living raise in years, and some have even taken paycuts. I had expected this phone to last 2+ years. I am extremely disappointed. This phone cost me ~ $326 for a 16GB 3G phone with a two year contract.

Just because you have the luxury to buy a new phone each year doesn't mean everyone else does too.

Refusing to tell me that iOS 4.1 is available. iTunes still says, despite all my prodding, that 4.0.2 is the latest version. :(

Apparently there are no games in the Game Centre.

Worst. Rollout. Ever.

(Haven't devs had since the 4.0 SDK in the Spring to make them compatible? Unless Apple hasn't approved any yet...)

I've noticed a bit of a performance boost across the board on my 3GS. Like others have said, I'm quite dissapointed that HDR is not available for the 3GS....

Will just have the get myself a 4! :)
