My iPad is funky, after downloading 8.0.1 and then unable to update, stuck in DFU mode, etc. So, going to do a full restore. Then update iPhone. So I'm downloading only for now.

After over an hour 283 of 1.59GB downloaded, 5 hours to go (maybe)...everyone is trying to do this now. :p

To download the update for more than one iOS device without keeping them connected, just connect (via iTunes), click update, click "Download Only", press eject button, then connect next iOS device and repeat.

I almost always update by downloading the full update first and updating with iTunes. I don't have issues I read other people have...i.e.: some have reported crashes with iOS 8.0, but, my iPhone 5 & iPad Mini have been fine...sometimes scrolling is jittery, but, no crashes.

Out of the 10 million devices sold launch weekend, it's not even half a percent.

Of total devices sold, perhaps. But I bet that 40,000 is a huge percentage of the number of people that actually downloaded and installed the update.

Regardless, I would argue that one person losing cell service when their phone is updated is too many.

But that doesn't change that crippling 40,000 devices is a huge issue that affected a lot of people.

Note that Apple apologized over the iOS 8.0.1 issue. They did not over "Bendghazi." That tells you they they know 8.0.1 was a real problem but don't think the same about bending phones.

Updated ATT 6+ and iPad mini retina. All is well.

To the poster who went to Apple Store today and bent a display phone, if true, they should have called cops on you for destruction of property.

Absolutely. A lot of people rely on their cell phone as their only phone, and a lack of phone service means a lack of access to emergency services. Apple really screwed-up big time. The quick response with iOS 8.0.2 only partially mitigates this fact.

Oh no! i can't find my carrier with my iPad wifi only edition :p

But on a serious note, its good they jumped on this as fast as they did

Urgh wtf!!! No cellular service & touch id no longer works!

Ok, just got the update available over OTA and downloaded and installed iOS 8.0.2

iPhone 6 plus restarted and have been "SEARCHING...." for past 10 mins
Resetted Network Settings, rebooted and same result....

I love you Apple, but this is rediculous...btw, I'm on AT&T in Florida

Update: powered down the phone and restarted it....TOUCH ID DOESN'T WORK AND STILL "SEARCHING" NO CELL SERVICE

FYI, I never did attempt to update to iOS 8.0.1

I miss Steve Jobs

Agreed. I'm surprised by how much attention "Bendghazi" got over the bricked iOS 8.0.1 issue got. 8.0.1 got a lot of attention but not as much as 9 people who had bending phone issues. Apple apologized about 8.0.1. They basically denied "Bendghazi" was an issue.

yeah it broke my phone. it's showing "no service". on virgin mobile in australia.

touch id doesn't work either.

wtf man

September 24th called. It wants its iOS complaint back. 8.0.2 works just fine.

Agreed. I'll defend Apple against "Bendghazi" but not 8.0.1. I wasted 2 hours when I could have been working trying to get my phone working.

I found an iOS 8.0.2 bug with the music. Since I redid the iPhone 5S. It tells me to transfer the songs. When I don't do that the purchase song does not play, so then I go to a song that I have locally stored, and that won't play and actually gave me the notification to transfer purchases again. After I close the window it still won't play and treats it as if it's a purchased song.

Note I used the song strange bird on purpose for iOS 8 :)

30 mins and still no AT&T service: "Searching" and Touch ID down

Since my iPad 4 doesn't have TouchID and isn't going to be making any phone calls, I think I may hold off on updating it- I mean, knowing that I'm rocking the RAREST VERSION OF iOS EVER is kinda cool...

I just updated my sons 5s, my other sons iPad mini with retina and my iPad 4. I'm waiting on my 6 plus to finish, but everything looks great so far.

Hahaha, just kidding folks :D Though, I have +not+ actually installed it yet.

In fact, I never made it to 8.0.1, I happen to be out and about, BTT I got around to it, I saw the threads, I waited and it got pulled.

Plus I only have a lowly 5 so no Touch ID :D

Dude.... You are officially the first DICK in this thread today #

Still not showing up on sprint ota network for iPhone 4s in south central PA. :\
