I'll make you a mockup of what I mean. Give me a minute.

Edit: These are just mockups I made from 2.2.1 to simulate what 3.0 looked like from beta 1 through beta 4 so far. I'm hoping beta 5 fixed this. The text in the text field is too high within the text box in 3.0 but 2.2.1 is centered vertically. 2.2.1 looks nicer.

The image on the left is a mockup of what 3.0 looks like and the right is 2.2.1

Ah ok, not noticed that one, mine was a third party issue - old vs new

but i take it if 02 have not enabled mms on your account it still aint working?

I rang O2UK up very early on in the beta stages and explained I was testing 3.0 for Apple.
They lifted the MMS restriction/block which was on my account there and then.

I can successfully send and receive with the latest beta (Beta 5),
using the confirmed settings above.

itunes problem

when i try to do a sync before updating to get a backup just in case, itunes just crashes as soon as it starts backing up. Anybody else having this issue or is there a fix?

For all with ATT and Beta 5.

1) Go to Settings

2) General

3) Network

4) Cellular Data

5) MMSC enter "mmsc.cingular.com" without quotes

6) Proxy - 066.209.011.032

7) restart the phone!

You should have MMS now working. If not then.... Sorry!

NO GUARANTEE! It worked for me though!

That won't work unless the carrier file was copied to the phone BEFORE moving to iTunes 8.2 and Beta 5. I have never had the "Cellular Data" option in my Network menu, because I have never copied the carrier file over.

When exactly did it start shifting up a few pixels? I know this is not an issue in 2.xx releases.

Starting with 3.0 beta 1. I can't believe they haven't fixed this yet. It's stupid looking in my opinion.

Anyone else having issues ending calls with beta 4?

With iphone os beta 3.4, was anyone else having to press the end button after a call like a hundred times to get it to actually end a call? I think this was fixed with beta 3.5, but curious if anyone else expreienced this?

I'm also confirming these settings work for O2UK customers.

I love this site, your info was spot on, the new itunes disables ipcc file updates but the cellular options were back so i just used the info you posted and got my 02uk mms back up and running.

Bit odd they remove one method to accessing mms but then offer another, either way im pleased as its working faster than ever and i love my mms.

Cheers

Wi-Fi Authentication Problem

I was hoping Beta 5 would fix an issue I'm having, but alas it did not.

With 3.0, Apple put a nice new automatic wi-fi authentication feature in place. If you're not familiar with this feature, it basically removes the annoying website log in that many wireless hotspots require you to do before getting internet access. When you connect to a wi-fi hotspot that requires this type of authentication, a screen automatically appears and displays the log in page without your having to open it up in Safari, and then you can have it remember the login credentials (I assume).

The problem is that my work wi-fi has a log in page like that, but for some reason it isn't loading properly within the automatic log in screen that pops up. In Beta 4 I would just see a blank screen, and in Beta 5 I now get an error that says there was a problem opening the page.

The big problem is that the only option I have at this point is to cancel the connection. I can't even do the normal Safari browser authentication. So there is now no way for me to connect to my work wi-fi.

I really hope this gets fixed with an update soon because my office gets really poor cell phone reception, and I rely on the wi-fi to check my email throughout the building.

Cool! Thanks! I've submitted the bug and I've attached a screenshot. Thank you for that link!

They will get back to you if/when they solve the problem. They've done it with me on some bugs I reported for beta 3.

I thought everyone knew about the bug reporter. It really goes directly to the development team!

Spaz, you and I both know that Apple has bigger fish to fry right now. So what if somethings off a few pixels in a beta that the public wont ever see. It wont be that way when 3.0 is actually released.

I've noticed I have to some buttons more than once to get it to work. I wasn't sure if it was the beta or the fact that I spilled about 2-3 ounces of pepsi on my phone about that time.

Sorry, my answer probably doesn't help much because of the spillage.
