yeah, or my case - altering 2-3 phone numbers from address book, and a couple calendar changes.....

So you re-sync 32GBs everytime you sync? May I ask why? For 99% of the users, syncing means downloading new podcasts or adding a few songs they downloaded. For many of us, wireless sync'ing would be a huge feature addition.

Put the sim card you first used with it in and activate it (no service needed). You did keep the old sim card didn't you?

I'm looking around for it and I can't seem to locate it... haha. Oh well. It's not like I use my first gen anyway... I just wanted to try out 3.1.2... although I already know it's going to be just like 3.1.

with all the problems I am hearing is there any compelling reason to upgrade if I am perfectly happy with 3.0 ????

Anybody know if this update fixes the annoying Login issue where if you try to log in to a wireless network, it will connect and then disconnect? I can't use my school's network with my iPod b/c of this and it's really annoying.

I''ll answer my own question: it is indeed fixed!

Does 3.1.2 finally have MMS, Cut and Paste and push?

Oh.. sorry. Meant to post this a few months ago

Because only a very very small percentage of iphone users care about wireless syncing.

Imagine sitting your phone by your bed at night (plugged into the wall, obviously). Wake up the next morning and it's already synced with the latest podcasts and you didn't need to lift a finger.

I for one would welcome wireless sync in an instant!

That would only work if the podcasts that you are subscribed to are updated in the middle of the night.

Wireless syncing while plugged into the wall to charge? Wow, what an improvement over what we have now!

I can plug it into my Mac and get the same end result.

Some of us don't have macs in the bedroom. There are days when I don't go near my computer and just plug my phone into the wall charger by my bed.

I just want Apple to put the play button back on the photos menu bar. I can't fathom why they removed it in the first place. There's now no way to choose images and output them to an external monitor.

(Edit: And I don't know about anyone else, but I've been having frequent instances of incoming calls bypassing my iPhone and going straight to voicemail -- which then refuses to play.)

Induction charging, but that wouldn't work well on the road eh? :D Would still need a cable for the car.
If you had an induction charger in your car you wouldn't. In fact, the car is where I see having an induction charger being the most useful. I see a day when you get into the car, drop the phone on a dashboard tray that has an induction charger, the phone auto-magically connects into the Bluetooth speakerphone, and you're on your way. I can't stand futzing around with cables hanging all over the car.

in order for wireless syncing to work, your home computer (Mac or PC) would need to be turned on to allow your media to sync over.

maybe one day Mobile Me would be worth $99/ year and would be able to hold my media In the Cloud to allow me to sync my music/podcast over from any Wi-Fi hotspot or cellular network (similar to contacts/calendar)

for now I'll just keep my plug-in, Load and Go Method.
