iTunes update to 12.5.1 will not begin for me at all. When I try to update through iTunes itself it recognises that the update is there but does nothing after I click to Download.

When I try to use the Apple Software Update utility instead, it fails to recognise that the update is available.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue please?

In Artist view in my library there are lots of icons w/mic and no artist image. What gives? I did a full reboot after the update

Looking forward to an Apple Music app for macOS next year.

There's no reason why iTunes should still be around as the bloated everythingware that it is.

The App Store could manage iOS apps and syncing. iCloud already does backups but for the sake of those who want to plug in, macOS could handle the backup.

For those who still want to buy music rather than stream it, they'll have Apple Music like everyone else but next to each song and album will be a buy button. It'll certainly entice them to pay the $9.99 and get all you can listen to for one flat price.

All that is remaining is a dedicated Movies/TV app for iOS and macOS. Maybe a deal with movie and tv studios for a streaming video service like Apple Music will be reached for WWDC 2017 and we can move on from storing huge libraries of movies and tv shows on our computers and just watch what we want to watch, when we want to watch it.

All good ideas, and while I use Apple Music, I use it as more of a discovery tool to add music to my library. If I enjoy something, I'd rather just buy it and own it. My library is over 10 years old with counts, playlists, ratings, meticulously-edited metadata, and a lot of stuff that you can't buy anywhere (live performances from award shows, long out of print records and videos, etc.)

I tried iTunes Match and iCloud Music Library, and both have a long way to go before they come even close to matching the reliability of a local library. If all you want to do is stream and don't care a lot about play counts, smart playlists, etc, it's probably ideal to have streamlined, separate apps. But if you have large local libraries, Apple has a lot of work to do to make it a safe and simple transition.

Still can't update this.

Does iOS 10 require 12.5.1 does anyone know please?

having issue when you go to FOR YOU, then try and play a playlist. Takes you to browse and just locks up. Apple is killing me these days.

About resizing the album art, manually resize the size of the Artist/Song list and/or Show/Hide the Sidebar. The artwork resizes dynamically.

Ok, why is the player bouncing to "Browse" every time try to play a song in my Library? Anyone else seeing this?

Solution was stated earlier.
The issue is that when you play an Apple Music song it wants you to accept the new terms and conditions. But it is hanging when trying to load them.
Solution:
Go to the App Store and "Get" a free app. It will ask you to accept new terms and conditions. Then iTunes will work as normal.

On my monitor I have to move the Artist/Song list to the right almost 60% of the screen before it resizes....that isn't a solution. I'm going to be a tad cranky if I can't manually reduce the size of the album art. It is annoyingly large.

AH, missed that little gem... thank you much!

Yep same here. Finally gave up and downloaded from Apple.com and just installed it that way verses upgrading.

Anyone noticing iTunes loads WAY faster now? I just rebooted after the install and when back up fired it off and it was up really fast (SSD here on Windows). Even with SSD it was slow as all get out until just now with the new version.

Me too, exactly the same. Since 18:00 (in the UK using Windows 10... sorry :p)

- You can tell Siri "Rate this song 4 stars" to avoid having to rate from your Mac/PC.

Really hope the on-screen star ratings come back though!
Editing stars via Siri will be great when I'm rating through an album on public transit or late at night with my wife trying to sleep. :p

Please send feedback to apple if you want the iOS Music star editing to return! apple.com/feedback

Otherwise I use exactly the same star rating system as you. Not being able to update it on the go, on iOS, is definitely a setback.

Thank you for the reply. Can't remember the last time I did a fresh iTunes install.

I take it you had no problems with it recognising the Apps, Music etc in your library?

I'm in the UK on Windows 10 too. Wonder if this is a geographical download server problem?

EDIT - just noticed that sbailey4 is in the US, which rules that theory out.
