Another smashing job by Apple. Dialup speeds for a badly needed update nearly two months after the previous one.
Dec 13 to Jan 26 including holiday shutdown. (12.2 beta cycle)
You really want to compare 56 kbps dialup to waiting on todays Apple server downloads? A full 11 GB download would be 18.188 days. So your not that bad off. :D

That’s my intention as well, I’m planning to update my 2014 Mac mini (one of the the oldest devices supported by Monterey) with 12.2, if the general consensus agrees that it is already stable enough.
I haven't had it installed for very long obviously, but so far so good on my 2014 Mac mini.

Plus, the good news is it fixes the Monterey FaceTime audio bug.

The update is not 11 gigabytes. It is 2 gigabytes. And a trillion dollar company should be able to afford server speeds quicker than a four-hour download speed for a file that size.

Mine downloaded in minutes.

I've already updated 5 Macs, and all of them downloaded the 1.94 GB update independently, so that's about 10 GB downloaded, with several of the machines downloading their updates simultaneously.

If you check the thread, you can see that others are having these download problems as well. So let me amend my comments and say "should be able to provide faster server speeds for ALL of its users."

I guess I'm better off without the Bag O' Hurt which is Catalina/Safari 15 and above. I really have never seen much benefit except more incompatibility and added bugs. Strong within me is the power of not upgrading. Safari 14 apparently keeps me safe. :D

My iPhone also got no update although it qualifies, but then again, I am running an IOS 15 beta there, so I guess it's already fixed in IOS 15.3 beta?

You get to a point where you realize that all the bug fixes are for bugs that you don't have. This every year OS update madness really has to stop. It should be at least every 1 1/2 years if not every 2 years. Clearly Apple has proven time and time again that one year is not enough time to hash everything out in time.

Probably in the minority her, but I still kinda wish Apple would take a year off between major OS releases. Spend the two years rewriting everything (or at least as much as possible) to be native Swift & SwiftUI code. Streamline as much as possible, and get all the OSes (macOS, iOS, iPadOS, etc.) as standardized as possible. That way, in later versions, they can add a lot new features more easily and standardized.
They are already rewriting things in Swift. There's a rumor it is a source of problems in recent versions...

Rewriting stuff in Swift is probably even worse idea than rewriting stuff in Rust :)

Whos to say its Apple's fault and not your own ISPs? Downloaded perfectly fine and installed here in less than an hour.

As noted, others in this thread have complained about this issue. That's a lot of ISPs going haywire. Also, isn't it miraculous that everything else is loading fine over my network? Thank you very much for your helpful post, sir. Would you by any chance happen to work for Apple Support?

could someone test if it is possible again to run applications "in low resolution mode"?
this was removed in 12.0.1. all apps are run in high resolution mode, terrible on older macs with 5k display ...

Very sad to see USB issues have not been solved yet...
My Verbatim USB flash drive will not even show up in System Monitor unless I reboot with it plugged in. And will not work if I unplug it and plug it back in, it's like it's not even inserted.

It's not a USB-C hub issue either, the same thing happens with my iMac with built in USB-A ports...

This doesn't fix the issue on the 14" MBP where you put it to sleep and it immediately wakes up again. It doesn't matter if you use the hot corner or the Sleep command in the Apple menu.

After downloading and installing this... I'm getting a series of errors... including mail randomly opening with split-screen.... and this.

All you need to do is use Free EasyRes
this isn't useful if some apps run in background, like slack, rocketchat or spotify.
i don't want to change the resolution of my screen.

if apple didn't bring back this needed function i will stay on Big Sure until my next hardware update ...

Pulling the plug on my iMac, rather then 11.6.3 upgrading to 12.2 - 12.16GB.
Will report back when it’s done
Success! went very smooth, started off with "58min remaining" and the whole upgrade incl all the various reboots took < 50 min.
First thing I changed was the wallpaper :)
Renamed my main drive CCC backup to "- Big Sur" and running a new backup now (and of course I had run my 3 external CCC backups prior to upgrading)
