Just upgraded and got back 70GB of space. This has to be the best one, yet. Only got 30GB back with the last upgrade. This is awesome!

OS X upgrades (and IIRC reinstalls) nuke all your cache directories. Most of the space you get back is temporary, so don't rush to fill it just yet. :)

(mocking critics) So, like, omg. Wut evar happen'd to "Macs just work!" like omg, the travesty of this all! It's inexcusable! I'm like, triggered or stuff. Steve Jobs would never!
Sadly, Apple don't use the "It just works" slogan anymore. Even they seem to have realised that their products aren't as good as they used to be.

Hmm, don't know if anybody else has posted about this, but why is System Preferences icon layout such a mess - looks like row 2 doesn't have enough room for Startup Disk so its wrapped to a new line...?

so, if i'm running the GM version and it's the same release number as what was released today, do i need to reinstall?

Well that would have been really handy...

I just opened an old file, whilst it works, the timeline controls in Flash are not at all smooth. If you depend on your machine to make a living I'd advise caution. I had a feeling this may happen, so I didn't update my main machine.

Although I may still choose to update it in a day or two as I can always boot in to Windows to do anything Flash related.

Yeah it's my bread and butter machine. I think I'll give it a miss for a while. I use AI and PS the most out of my suite but I'm dead without them.

I'm going to wait a week to download it. I learned my lesson last week with iOS 10 when it sent both my iPhone and iPad Pro into recovery.

Apple has been slipping lately.

It depends what you define as useful.

For example, World of Warcraft runs on Metal now. The performance improvements on that compared to OpenGL are really impressive.
I care more about general system UI

lol. you're that guy.
What? That guy who stuck with an OS they liked and that fit their needs despite its limitations?

Apple don't use the "It just works" slogan anymore

As far as I could tell when I did some digging in 2015, that slogan was rarely used by Apple. Maybe it was spoken, or written, so often by customers or the press, that the public began believing that it originated as an Apple slogan.

So my Mid-2009 17-inch MacBook Pro, even with added SSD, is SOL.

Tap tap tap. Oh, October! Daddy needs a new MacBook Pro... A 15-inch one...?

But that's ok. It's all ok.

Bring on the new hardware goodness, Tim Cook!

And that Jony guy, of course.

Go to App Store......Featured.....click on the photo....click on download

Yeah. That wasn't showing up either until about an hour ago. App store seemed like it was behind on me but after I ran the safari update and a security update and restarted....it was there. Easy install.

incidentally this is the first osx update in 2 years that no longer requires me to unplug my 27" Cinema Display from my 2013 Macbook Pro in order to get the login screen on boot. Hopefully this is finally fixed for good... it has been a rough past 2 years.

A major hold for me on updating is it working with my Canon Printer/Scanner. It is a very new model, but I just checked, & the Driver package does not include support for Sierra.
This is not a knock at either Canon or Apple - things take time :)
Just install the older Canon drivers for your printer just make sure there going The same directories

My hope is Sierra will make my Macbook Pro faster, I don't care about the new features like Siri.

Strange! On my MacBook (12") I get version 16A312a. This is different from the version on my MacBook Pro which is 16A323. Both are in beta program. What's going on? Anyone have a clue?
The 312a was the first GM - Public build IIRC. The 323 was the "final" GM.
You have to download macOS Sierra again from the MAS to get the final GM / public version.
