It's a nice little app, but I think I'll still stay with Air Sharing Pro.

ASP does everything this does (except emailing the doc links), and more...

It lets you upload to your iDisk
It lets you organize what's locally stored on your iPhone.
You can sent documents to a Mac shared printer.
Etc.

It's a great app if you haven't already checked it out.

Is there a reason why Apple didn't add printing? If I need my idisk on my iPhone its probably b/c a computer isn't around and I need a printout. C'mon Apple it can't be that hard as there are already iPhone printing apps in the store.

That's right. As I stated, I was under the impression a user did not need a mobileme account to use iDisk. As others like me have noted I have my own domains, etc. and I find it ridiculous that my 5 year old 20 GB 4th gen. ipod can act as an external harddrive, yet my 3 week new 32GB 3GS cannot (without 3rd party attempts). So yes I'm using what little power I have as a consumer and long time Apple fan to voice my opinion. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

while i agree that it is stupid of apple to not allow the iphone to work a external drive i also think it's not helpful to rate an unrelated app down for it.

this just confuses users who want to get guidance on those apps.

May I ask why you were under the impression that MobileMe was not necessary? It was clearly stated on the description on iTunes that a mobile me account was required

Woo, that's nice. Now where's in essence a Finder app for the other 99 percent of us who don't use Mobile Me and want to use our iPhones as external storage? This crazy function was available on an iPod I bought three years ago.

He didn't know that an app named MobileMe iDisk required MobileMe. Yeah, must be false advertising.

I think it's great that Apple finally put this out, but my fears are that apps like Air Sharing or the upcoming Drop Box app will be denied or removed from the app store.

w00master

I don't live in fear of Apple. I have too much other stuff going on in my life. :D

ok, I'm at work so maybe someone can try this and let us all know:

normally, I take a dvd from home, rip it using handbreak, put it into iTunes, sync my phone, then watch movie on iphone.

now, with this iDisk app…….can I just take a downloaded movie and/or handbreak movie and put it in the iDisk Movie folder…..then watch movies that way with the same quality?

this way, I can avoid using space on my phone when snycing movies to the ipod app…….instead, I can utilize the 20G I have on idisk and rotate out movies.

does this make sense? does it work this way?

I tried it out with movies and it takes a long time to load it (50mb file) and fast forwarding is a nightmare. They really need to speed up iDisk. It's funny how I can stream free podcasts off iTunes 5x as fast as the iDisk I pay $100/year for.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand why we can't upload pictures taken with our iPhone with iDisk TO iDisk WITH the iDisk app at FULL resolution? That's one of the features I was expecting to be included here. Why do I have to email them at half-resolution when there are other apps that will send them at full resolution to other services (like Mobile Fotos, which sends full rez images to Flickr)?

You can upload full rez pics by copying them and pasting them into an email on your iphone. If you click share on the pic, it will size it down for the email.

Is it just me, or does the search page for the app on iPhone say 29 ratings with 4.5 stars, but when you goto the actual app page it says no ratings?

+1

It works pretty well, but I really would like to see this integrated into 4.0. You wouldn't have to put your MM credentials in separately....

You only have to do it once. Is it too much to ask?

That's what I'm trying right now but it's taking forever for a 1.1 gig file to upload but in theory yes AFAIK
