There has to be more to it than just the items listed, which is why they use the language "including fixes that".

The only two issues I've had consistently with Lion are:

  1. Bluetooth becomes non-responsive when headset battery dies or device goes out of range. Only a restart fixes.
  2. Time Machine often claims that it "cannot find the backup disc" despite the Time Capsule being online and accessible via Finder.

At least your Bluetooth headset actually works in lion.

+1. Lion runs very hot compared to SL. Pretty unhappy about that.

im running at 60 degrees celsius with just one tab in safari open. fans spinning at 2400 rpm. in snow leopard they would spin at 2000 rpm and the cpu would be 45 celsius. i was hoping that would be fixed in this. doesn't bother me as much unless it gets close to 80.

Combo updates are for people who will be updating more than one Mac, potentially of more than one model. It's a rollup of all the changes in the release for all machine types.

I know. I guess I was asking why CyBeRino stated that they have always been Deltas when there have also always been combo updates.

What a load of crock, for me the wifi issues have not been fixed on my macbook, if its not my macbook it's the iPad, if it's not the iPad it's the iPhone.

How hard is it for Apple to release a product with wifi that is fit-for-purpose. It's not like they are developing for a 101 different configurations (unlike Microsoft) they just cannot get it right!

Are they getting too big for their boots and just don't care?

The whole system seems to be a bit slower now that 10.7.1 is on board?

And before you say it, yes it could be just my Mac, but guess what, it still cost me nearly £900 and for that sort of money I expect it to work.

SL here we come!!!

In the software update it says "Mac OS X update 10.7.1" and in the Apple knowledge base it says "OS X Lion 10.7.1"

Perhaps in 10.7.2 they'll have decided whether this is Mac OS X or OS X Lion.

I'd prefer to have the "Mac" in the name, if only as reassurance.

Based on news reporting of Lion OSX, it seems like Apple has dropped the ball on this update? Is this the Windows equivalent of Vista on Mac? dun dun dun!

The same charge is leveled at every OS X release. In fact the x.x.1 update almost always appears within three weeks of the base OS release; the fact that this one took 27 days means it took longer than usual. 10.6.1 was released less than two weeks after 10.6.

Might be a placebo but animations have improved significantly. Crammed folders in Launchpad no longer stutter when I open them. Much better Wi-Fi too.

Still haven't fixed the sleep the monitor issue with iTunes while you stream video to your ATV. Definitely an iTunes issue then, not a X one.

Haha, I just rolled my laptop back to Snow Leopard after frustration with some of these problems! However there are still other issues that aren't addressed.

I think all of our computers will be staying on Snow Leopard for the foreseeable future.

Then what are the combo updates?

The deltas come through Software Update and the combos are direct from the Apple website.
Machine-specific delta updates are available through Software Update. Software Update is only grabbing the code that is specific for your machine. If you run it on a two-year old MacBook, it will not grab videocard drivers for last year's Mac Pro.

The downloads from the Support downloads page

http://support.apple.com/downloads/

are all-machine delta updates from the previous version. These are standalone installers and can be used to update many different computers.

When several standalone point updates are combined into one installer, they become a "combo update." Thus 10.6.3 Combo Update has all of the changes from 10.6.0 to 10.6.1 to 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 for all systems supported by the latter OS version.

I think he means that its the "new" form of delta updates. Single bits of code are being replaced now, instead of entire files, when something is changed.
And what CyBeRino means is that there is no new form of software updates. The OS X updates via Software Update have always been delta updates. The Combo updater however is not, it is the entire update and even prior ones. That way you only have to install the latest after you've installed a fresh copy of OS X, just saves you from running updates after updates after updates.

Damn, I installed the 10.7.2 dev build and don't know how to install this now. It doesn't show up in software update, what am I supposed to do?

AD is still broken

Also noticing the computer hangs at the Loginwindow without the mouse or KB being active for quite a long time (5 minutes or so.)

Still tons of issues. It appears this update just fixed minor things and things that effected people moving over from SL to Lion.

I rebooted and installed the update, and I made sure to check "reopen windows", and guess what? It didn't reopen my windows. The ONE TIME this would actually be useful, it fails. Apple specifically said that Restore Windows is great when rebooting because of software updates. Well it doesn't freaking work.

Oh, and I don't notice anything new: all of the annoying crap is still there, all the bugs with Arrange by and Sort by in Finder, all the stupid Mission Control limitations, and everything else so far seems the same.

I didn't have any bugs that the update description mentions. I had a crapload of other bugs, and I still have them.

RE : Combo Updates.

Combo Updates are updates that are for all previous builds of a major build.

Example.

Combo update for 10.6.5 can be installed on any version of 10.6 up to 10.6.3,10.6.4 and 10.6.5.

Combo updates for OS 10.6.8 can be installed on system that run OS 10.6.1,10.6.2,10.6.3,10.6.4 and 10.6.5

Since this is the first "Delta Update" for OS 10.7.0 ( there is no previous build of 10.7.0 ) there is no Combo Update.

When 10.7.2 comes out there "will" be a "Combo Update" for users running OS 10.7.0 and 10.7.1

I guess it comes down to what Apple feel they can fix in a reasonable time scale. Now they can say they've pushed out bug fixes within a month of the OS being released, which buys them time to fix more stuff before 10.7.2.

I still got the problem I had before in mission control. Sometimes when I click on a window they bounce and hit each other instead of coming to the front. Still doing it. Not always but just messing around a little I had it doing it in no time at all.
