Imagine the most “advanced”, and “optimised” browser ever made by Apple can’t reproduce videos on YouTube without issues; Netflix is also broken, and who knows what else, and the extensions are still meh.

Back to Chrome/Firefox, and tbh those are safer.

Can anyone post a screenshot of Safari 14 running on Catalina? I have it on Big Sur beta, but I was wondering how it looks with the older design. Is it the same as the previous Safari?

If you use Edge for Mac, Safari 14 install will cause Edge to crash and not function. The solution is to restart your computer, then Edge appears to work. Confirmed this on Microsoft's support pages.

No issues with video at all.

What happened to Top Sites? That was central to my Safari use. Am I missing something, or is this just gone?

What is Top Sites everyone is talking about and how do I get there on Safari 13?

I am behind the times, lol. I just updated to Catalina. My guess would be to get people excited and tease Big Sur a little.

Anyone suffering FPS drops too? It's noticeably not as smooth as Safari 13 on my 5-year-old 15-inch MacBook Pro.
I notice that too. Maybe it has something to do with "Experimental Features", or...? 🤔

Man, as other have said, getting rid of Top Sites was such a mistake. It's like they're doubling down on dumbing down macOS. Why can't I preselect which frequent sites I want to be shown up instead of relying on Siri's best guest? Top Site was very handy but I'm sure they won't bring it back.

Well, Top Sites is no more, pity that. I liked that feature. Now we have Start Page with all sorts of 'things'. Can 'Frequently Visited' be expanded to show more than five sites? If anyone can figure out how I'd sure like to know, I hope it doesn't end being some form of terminal mojo on my part.

Five sites? I only get three...

I guess this means Big Sur may not be coming as soon as we'd like. Otherwise, not sure why Apple would rush out a separate Safari update instead of waiting for the core OS update.

Older Macs won't get Big Sur so Safari was going to be updated separately any way.

Installed Safari 14 on my 2010 Mac Pro running Mojave 10.14.6, and now Safari quits immediately upon launch. Restarted and same thing happens.

Funny how nobody across MR, Reddit or 9 to 5 Mac ever complained about the missing Top Sites feature in Big Sur, but when Catalina Safari is updated then a few people are seemingly mad. Seems like people just want to complain simply because it's Apple. That's how the recent news has been in the past month. SMH.

It still doesn't play nicely with the Bitwarden browser extension, or at least not as nicely as Chrome does and I've got Pi-hole blocking most ads and tracking sites, so don't think I'll be switching back.
