Save that picture. I'm sure we'll find it has eerie similarities to the design of the 4th generation Shuffle. How hard would it have been to add a rocker special clicker button to the side?
I did it in like 2 minuteslol

Guys, what's with all the negativity?
If you hate the new shuffle, and prefer something with buttons, then maybe this iPod wasn't actually designed with you in mind.
If only apple made a miniature iPod with buttons. Hey, they could even call it the iPod nano!!!
?
Apple should have taken the 2G iPod nano design, applied newer circuitry and reduced the height of the player by 33%. The resulting player would have the same functionality as the 2G nano but has storage capacities up to 8 GB and could easily sell for US$119 for the 8 GB version.
^^^ HAHAHAHAHAawesome engraving
charges the same price for the special click button ones. These are the old kind which sold for the same $29.00
My point: No OEM buds could possibly be worth $30.
Edit: How hard would it have been to add a rocker special clicker button to the side?

But seriously, i'm a runner and I love the design of the new shuffle - that stainless steel clip is especially gorgeous. I'll be buying one as soon as they're in stores!
My only problem is, should I get black or silver?
I think it is quite funny that people are dissing the Apple earbuds so much. Isn't it a running gag about the ubiquity of the white earbuds that we on every train, plane and bus.
Wake up people, most people use the earbuds that come in the box! It is probably well over 80%. I see them everywhere.
FLAC is better than Apple Lossless, and thus I think the iPod line should support it. Probably will never happen, but I can hope.
Wait, you're saying Apple should have made a completely different product, at a completely different price point in order to satisfy your needs ?
... No comment.
I posted my initial negative reaction on release day, due to the fact that the new shuffle would be a very weak replacement for my current silver 1GB second gen shuffle. After my shuffle dock was stolen on holiday last month, I figured I would get a new shuffle as it is only around double the cost of a replacement dock.
I am, in short, the target market for this - and was actively looking to buy one.
As an owner of an original iPhone, I have come to gain a love of the in-line headphone clicker. But, as an owner of an original iPhone, I have also come to utterly despise proprietary (in this case recessed) headphone jacks.
Given that my original iPhone earphones became horribly buzzy and severely hurt my right ear, I needed replacements. On the original iPhone, I could purchase a little £3 adapter to allow me to plug my normal earphones in, or purchase an extended 'clicker' cable to plug my headphones into, or purchase a pair of iPhone-specific phones. All credible options, all extra expense, all should have been unnecessary. There was no good reason for the iPhone to have a recessed headphone jack.
Similarly, I see absolutely no reason why the new shuffle has had the controls removed. It is just completely unnecessary and removes the usefulness of the shuffle in many scenarios - such as the car stereo one I mentioned.
I'd have been all over a shuffle with physical controls that also had the remote capability - the remote clicker is a real value added feature and one that is really worth the extra investment - but absolutely not in favour of normal buttons.
My response to the new shuffle has been to go and buy a 2GB green 'last-gen' shuffle. Hope it lasts for years to come, because this new shuffle, for me, is a complete and utter joke. iLounge's review says it all.
Looks good. Who knows?Save that picture. I'm sure we'll find it has eerie similarities to the design of the 4th generation Shuffle.
This:
If you want to change song, you don't have to reach into your pocket or whatever to change the song.
I keep my 2G shuffle clipped to my sleeve or to the outside of my pocket. I don't have to reach inside my pocket to change songs.
Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-A821/1.0 SHP/VPP/R5 NetFront/3.4 SMM-MMS/1.2.0 profile/MIDP-2.0 configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.5.1.3.0)
To all the people who are complaining that they wont buy the new shuffle because you want to use your own headphones, just a reminder that old shuffle still works. And my local electrical store still has the old shuffle in all the old shuffle colours for sale.
If you don't like the latest and greatest technology, there's nobody forcing you to buy it.
You just do not get it, do you? Why be punished for upgrading? Why be forced to buy a dongle or 3rd party ear buds to enjoy the extra capacity? What do I do when my 2GB Shuffle quits working? What then? Comments like that amaze and shock me at the complete lack of understanding. The stock headphones are TERRIBLE and do not fit the nature of the Shuffle.
Apple says thank you for their business, by the way. They have a new item soon to be released called the iTurd. It stinks - but people will line up for the new product and anyone who complains about the smell will be chastised and ridiculed for daring to question Apple.
