oh my... they are now offering a simple battery charger and make it sound they reengineered lunar lander. It's just a battery charger, and it even doesn't look different than others, really. Sometimes it would be nice to not overshoot in the PR department *all* the time.
Imagine the guy who was tasked with providing the text for a full web page.

"Vampire draw"... ROTFL!

Haha, true.

REally: why didn't they put the dimensions anywhere? is that a sort of military secret?

Also, for 69 USD, I think they should have included the 2 rechargeable batteries and the charger. It's not more than a 5 USD value...

I would of preferred it to somehow "connect" physically with the keyboard...

I want one unit with the exact keyboard & trackpad layout as my MBA (or MBP, etc.)--no need to adapt when moving between desktop to laptop (or in my case, mostly from laptop to desktop).

Huh

Yeah, lets take the greatest source of frustration on a Laptop...and dedicate it to a desktop. It's like a Studio that doesnt have any good movie ideas...so they let their creative department sell a film about a talking, special forces unit of Guinna Pigs. LAME

Been waiting for this since the rumors, I was going for the Magic Mouse before that, so glad I held off as I have got really used to my MBP trackpad now, so this is idea to go with my Griffin stand, and Apple Wireless Keyboard :D

why don't they offer a keyboard with a trackpad built-in, OR make them connect in some way?
I'm thinking of lap use with a Mac Mini as media center.

Couldn't have said it better! There's no way that I could fork out that much money for one, though it is tempting.

Guess value is in the buyer. I'll be getting one.

I just hope we see an Apple TV update (iOS based) that uses the touchpad, that'd be sweet!

I also agree with the evolution of the mouse though. I don't want to lift my hand to my 27inch computer screen and drag stuff around. a pad sitting on my desk or lap to do it on is much more comfortable.

Same thoughts here. While I think it would be awesome to play with a touchscreen iMac, I'm not sure how it would hold up in the long run as a daily use computer. I would love it if, somewhere down the road, Apple would implement their touch technology into the keyboard, while at the same time integrating the trackpad into the same product. That way, there is one piece of hardware that essentially does away with the traditional mouse and keyboard completely.

I can imagine Apple doing away entirely with mechanical keys and having a touch panel backlit with perforations across it... the back light forms the keys... thus we type and swipe...

Interesting...

That is a good point; that might actually work. Hmmm. One thing about this trackpad, I hope Apple updates the drivers for the magic mouse. Seems to me it was "the world's most powerful mouse" which shipped with "the world's most basic drivers". I ended up having to buy some separate MouseWizard to get the extra functionality out of my mouse. :(

Is it a glass trackpad like the MBP? I love the glass! Whenever I use a different laptop the trackpad seems cheap and clunky in comparison! :)

I do the same thing and I added three finger down swipes to close browser tabs and some more gestures for certain apps to make them work more fluid. Apple's trackpads really are the only reason I have stuck with their laptops over their desktops. Now I really might consider getting rid of the Macbook Pro and getting an iMac instead for real work and supplementing it with an iPad for my mobile needs which rarely if ever involve doing hardcore work.

I use 5 finger swipes to navigate Spaces. Tap to bring up Expose, swipe u/d/l/r to navigate around. Love it.

This is the reason I'll be getting one of these. Have a Mac mini hooked up to the TV and using a mouse on the coffee table isn't the most elegant solution for controlling the pointer. Tnis fits the bill perfectly for me... Aside from the cost that is. :-s

why would you "BUY" anything to make your magic mouse work? Better touch tool has been out since day 1 and is free and adds ANY and EVERY functionality you need.

man I was all ready to buy one when I looked at the minimum requirements----I'd have to have snow leopard first. :( I'm not sure if I'm ready to upgrade that as well...

You can tell the people that don't use MBP's or MB's on a regular basis. They are the ones that think trackpads in general suck.

Trackpads on Windows laptops suck...the trackpad on my MBP is a delight even in stock form. Add to that BTT and you have an amazingly powerful tool.
