What does it prove? That the Droid X does indeed have signal attenuation?

Also, that link is to a site explicitly revolving around Android. Try again?

They were unable to produce the death grip problem with the Droid X. Read again?

LOL so its ok if apple releases claims right on their website about other products, but if a site revolving around other products about Apple they are bad? Get out of here. You know whatever helps you sleep at night man.

Apple has been a very dirty company since around 2007.

You're really confused ? The stat is 0.55% of iPhone 4 owners called Applecare about it. This stat doesn't say anything else. It doesn't say that it's the number of americans affected, nor does it say it's the number of people who care about the issue, not does it say it's the number of units affected.

It's plain as day what it says : 0.55% of iPhone 4 called Applecare about it. Any other interpretation of the number to mean anything else is false.

Man, you need to relax. First, I acknowledged that I mistyped "American" instead of "Applecare" and fixed the error. (Go back and look.) Second, it's not hard to interpret that .55 is a low ass number of "inquiries". (IMO: If you take the time to call, you "care" enough about an issue you're experiencing.) Third, I never stated a number of units affected. My point was networks are a moot issue.

Talk about confused.

Apple pulled the videos from their site because they were obviously doctored, well obvious to anyone outside the cult of apple fanboys.

agreed. The Steve Jobs reality distortion field in full effect.

Yes, ALL phones have SOME problems. However, Apple's is something along the lines of 6-12db MORE of a problem than ANY other phone on the market.

You have no proof they we not doctored, and have ignored proof that they were. I think anyone outside the cult of apple would be a little suspicious. Apple, produced a video in an Apple test facility, under conditions Apple created, for an outcome Apple wanted. How anyone with a with at least a fifth grade education could believe those videos is beyond me.

Except there are videos showing the same thing on these phones all over youtube.

I am glad Apple removed it.. Lately Apple has been doing extremely well with the iphone 4 and the ipad, those videos I think would have and probably already has made an effect on people who were looking to purchase a smart phone.. I've never been a fan of bashing competition like this..

A good move. I thought it was underhand when I first saw the videos, and then I read into the problem of having to hold the phone in unnatural positions, the lack of 3G reception, power saving mode.

If this is what Apple do when they hold design over function then I'll have to get my phones from another manufacturer. Most other smartphones use 2 antenna per radio. The iPhone doesn't and had it on the outside of the case, exposed. No thanks.

Steve Jobs waves his hand like Obi-Wan "there is NOTHING wrong with the iPhone 4!!!!!! can we shut up about this nonissue already"

there is NOTHING wrong with the iPhone 4!!!!!! can we shut up about this nonissue already:rolleyes:

Steve Jobs smiles.

No it means there's bias. Apple shows what it needs to show, and your site shows what it needs to show, to support its opinion. The videos shows a slight attenuation, granted, but you have to remember that not everyone has this problem with their iPhone. It's situational I believe, for all mobile phones. Weaker signal = higher signal attenuation.

Bold I love the insinuation within this message.

The videos were doctored. E.g., n97 mini was in energy saving mode in which the antenna software behaves differently than under normal operation. Droid X was apparently not in 3G network in the first place.

What does that have to do with things? When should I ever plan to run a phone in "energy saving mode" especially if it's going to kill my signal. And not being in 3G has no correlation with a signal drop in an area that should have signal (as evidenced by the start of the video).

Guess this flaw is only unique towards the iPhone 4... Good. Now can we move on?

They were probably about to sued to bankruptcy by other manufacturers.

Not at all. What claim did they make? All phones are subject to this problem. Hold it the wrong way and... the bars go down. Especially sweet was the Droid X, which made the claim twice in its advertising that "you can hold it however you like," and so on.

In other news, you can now buy smart phones that are too big to fit in your pocket.

There is no size issue.

Just don't put it in that pocket.

;)

N97 mini: Watch the video, look at the battery indicator. There's your proof.
Droid X: Watch the video, look at what network it's on. There's your proof.

"Proof" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Die Apple...

Die awfully, slowly and painfully.

Embarrassing and shameful way to do business.

WHY are such vile apple hating people on an apple rumours site (complete WITH member status) only to ***** and p*ss all over any apple story?

I simply don't get it? You don't see me on windows sites spewing my venom on a product I don't particularly care for!

Seriously, find something more productive and positive to do with your life...

It's obvious for many people, the Steve Jobs reality distortion field is working in reverse. If he said, "Nice day," some people would immediately think he was covering up a heat wave.

So the Nokia phone pushes more power to falsify what the actual signal is. Sure, they're amplifying it on the phone end but that doesn't mean the call won't be dropped when you make one.

Ok, fine, the Droid X didn't have a 3G signal. Doesn't matter, still dropped. A 3G signal isn't going to be magically stronger and better than a 1X signal.

I wonder about this too. So if you hold it wrong, it does not drop the call, it just runs your pathetic battery down even faster?

Was there any point in keeping them any longer.

Apple essentially killed "antennagate." iPhone 4 sales are through the roof. problem solved. Why continue to call attention to competitors' poor iPhone imitations?

Only in an Apple Fanboy's mind.

Leno and Letterman are still ridiculing Apple as of this week even, so Antennagate still lives on in the general public's mind. It's still too early to know if this will affect sales since the problem is only now in the general public's mind since most cell phone users don't read geek websites.

And as someone else pointed out quite succinctly, the videos and tests were clearly doctored and Apple was caught red handed and probably facing possible slander/libel lawsuits from all the other manufacturers.

I'm sure Apple legal's phones were ringing off the hook and someone finally had to tap stubborn Steve Jobs on the shoulder and warn him the police might be kicking in his door a la "Gizmodo" if he didn't back down. :D

No again that is not the case. This post more proves that you do not understand how cell phone antennas work.

All cell phone antennas will pump more power into the antenna in a low or crummy signal area in order to keep receptions or even work. I have been watching my blackberry battery die a lot quicker the past few days were I have been because in this house the signal is well crap (1-2 bars if I am lucky) It dropping at about twice the normal rate and the change is the crummy singal.

Apple putting the Nokia in low power mode screws with it and does not allow the phone to ramp up as powerful and I would not be surprised if it turns off one of the antennas on the phone.

Just like apple not running the Droid in 3g area that could effect it in maybe both antennas are not running.

How do you KNOW that both of these conditions are true? A little birdie told you? Or the Google fanboy distortion field?

Maybe they're infected with a nasty virus?

Again, you're inferring from pure conjecture. The number means nothing at all outside of what it says. 0.55% called Applecare.

And yet oddly you remain completely incapable of coming up with a more reliable metric. Still making stuff up, I see, while accusing others of doing the same.

Now, when are you going to apologise for your bad faith posting? I've been waiting over a week.
