After Lion comes out I'm taking a good two weeks off from this place. The bashers, trolls and elitist whiners are going to be out in full force.

Sweeeeeeet. Finally Ive been anxiously waiting for this and I just got 8 GB of Ram for my Mac and it should be arriving Thursday :D This will definitely be a pretty exciting week (tech wise)

EDIT: I been also thinking bout getting the Trackpad just so I can make use of the multitouch gestures. You guys think its worth getting?

Absolutely. Multitouch gestures make Lion much better.

Meh.

I'm going to miss the Mac operating system. There have been rough releases over the years, but all and all, it's been a good run. This final version of Snow Leopard turned out to be the best of them all. Apple sure went out with a bang on that one. I can see using it for the next year until applications no longer run on it. After that, I guess I'll figure out where to go from there.

Not sure what's in store for the future, but so far... things are looking dismal for the ol' Macintosh. But I guess if you are into iToys like the iPhone, or iPad... then I suppose there's a lot to be looking forward to, so have fun with that.

Jesus, what a bunch of ____ing drama queens.

I imagine that it's actually a disk image of Lion tailored for the retail experience, with a few iTunes tracks, pictures, videos and the concierge thing that all the demo Mac's get refreshed with every night. It'll be less effort for the tech guys in the Apple stores just to swap a drive in the store's server than to have to initiate, monitor and execute a download.

Purely speculation on my behalf though, just adding my thoughts to your own.

That's exactly what I thought -- I think this is spot-on. It's a hard drive to replace those in the demo computers with all the new promotional software to go with it.

If you don't like the change of the scrolling that mimics iOS, you can go in there and change it back to the previous way.

Jeech.... You got that right!

Looking forward to Lion. I think it's a good thing to take the best of some of the functions in iOS that make sense for a more traditional computer. It will help first time Apple buyers be more familiar with the OS. Not a bad thing as long as the OS remains fast, secure and easy to use. Good to see change.

The writing is on the wall. I'm sorry that you can't read it, and I don't have time to explain the specifics to you. Someday, you'll look back and remember this post and say... "Oh, I get it now."

Of course, if you're an iToys customer, this is going to make little difference, because that it the direction Apple is going in all future development as they phase out the desktops in the "post PC" era (Steve's words, not mine). Lion is a major transition milestone as they move slowly and exclusively into that business dynamic. The final nail will be when Steve is gone.

So you are blinded by delusion of an upcoming slippery slope, got it. I understand now that you have no specific problem with Lion or any future version of MacOs, you are just being contrary.

Lol I'm just sick of coming to Mac rumors and seeing nothing but unfounded anti-apple smut. I enjoy Mac OS and like reading about it.

Criticizing aspects of Apple's products is not anti-apple smut, it's a sign of objective, critical and rational thinking. Nothing is perfect and criticism is sometimes warranted.

If everything ever posted here was always positive, it would make a very irrational forum.

I think this will become my Mane OS. (Ok. I'll stop now.)

Still, though I do understand that it disrupts the flow of Expose and Spaces that some people are used to; oddly I think this arrangement will likely make me use multiple desktops and such more as I tend not to have really made use of it. I got started with Leopard, and while I knew they were there, I just never got conditioned to use it more than rarely.

But you have to admit, there seems to be many unwarranted statements and silly bashes on things that are not even available. It's one thing to voice your opinion based on actual experience, it's another to bash on things for the sake of bashing.

It seems like the more Apple is successful the more anti apple people want to come here and be silly.

Not sure if serious... I’ll answer nonetheless.

No. People who want to do such a thing are in the vast minority. Apple serves the interest of the majority of it’s users.

You guys are really missing the hypocrisy - if multi-GB images are better for consumers over the web, why are similar multi-GB images better for Apple stores over FedEx? Especially odd considering that Apple stores probably have high bandwidth business network connections, not ADSL or cable.

Wow - my post is downvoted to -26 already - must have struck a chord!

You seriously want to tell me that Apple does not have a way to send an electronic file to specific people without making it a public download????????????? This just keeps getting better and better.

Bingo!

So soon we will be able to replace all the "where is Lion" threads with "Lion bugs" threads!

Seriously. I've never understood early adopters. Waiting at least a few months to install Lion (while my 3rd party apps catch up) will do nothing to diminish my productivity and everything to reduce Apple-induced headaches ;)

Surely you know by know that traditional imaging methods work with Lion and you won't be downloading 4.7GB over the Internet through each machine you plan on upgrading?

I do know... And don't call me Shirley ;)
I use netboot at my place where others use DeepFreeze or a simple firewire boot drive to roll out standard images. My main point however was to highlight that Apple has customers other than just consumers.

This system has changed. Recently Apple switched to a new system, pushing demo content from a store server to the demo machines. The store server gets its content from an Apple server.

And technology marches in! Cool, thanks for the info. I qanat sure if they had switched over to that or not. Makes a lot of sense.

What is silly and unwarranted to you is important and lackluster to others. I for one am excited about Lion, if only for the improved Spaces/Mission Control and updated Terminal app.

However, that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed about their obvious "let's make the Mac App Store relevant" strategy, especially when it means I'll have to pay twice and download it twice to legally install it on all the Macs in the household (me and my GF don't share iTunes accounts and I'm not putting in my details on hers nor should I be sharing the installer with her since her computer is not mine).

So live and let live. You can be 100% excited about everything Apple is doing with Lion, fine. Others can be 75% excited, 25% disappointed, also fine. Any number of percentages of each is fine really and everyone is free to discuss any number of positive/negative aspects.

Someone posting something negative does not mean the poster is anti-Apple. Someone posting something positive does not mean the poster is a fanboy.

It seems like the more Apple is successful the more anti apple people want to come here and be silly.

Seems the contrary to me, seems like the more Apple is successful, the more some people don't want to see the negative aspects of some of their products/strategies.

Does anybody think that the copies of Lion reaching retail stores are on hard drives because it was delivered installed on the hard drives of the new hardware to be released with Lion?

Does Apple usually have new hardware in store on release day?

Any leaks on the new hardware arriving at retail stores for the release?

They still do. Not for long probably. It does not like they really want or care about those customers.
