Pass, the fact they couldn't give a monthly price means it's going to be high. I'm guessing 15-20.00 a month. I can't see a reason to pay that much for it. And without cellular 329 is a good deal but Series 2 can do all the same stuff minus stairs.. so again no reason to upgrade.
Except do EVERYTHING without lugging an iPhone around. Out for a run and want to buy a drink? use your watch. need to answer a call? use your watch. messaging? watch only. Seems like a major upgrade to me.

Evidently it is the Apple Watch Apple always wanted to make. Amazing all the hours spent by Apple advocates over the last several years slamming anybody who said the watch wasn't perfect when first released, and didn't need any of the features Apple has since added, and indeed claims they always WANTED.
Silly isn't it! Even this version is just a stepping stone, ultimately the Watch should be able to completely replace a cell phone for many users but that is still years away.

the interesting thing here is that people are slamming the device for the lack of features but seemingly are ignoring the fact hat there is a new processor inside significantly enhancing performance. For me this is a huge step forward. I have to wonder what process node it is being built on.If it is 14 nm that means there is still a lot of room for improvement with currently proven technology.

good point. you're right. They would have said free or $5/month if it was true because that would have been good news.

So I guess I'm a still a few years from getting an Apple Watch.

I like it though just too much for my budget/usage case. I will have to resort to putting my phone in my pocket everywhere I go. It's tough but someone has to do it.

Is there any reason to buy the nike one over the apple watch? They're both listed as Series 3 now.
If you like the watch face for Nike there's that, but for me it seems the Nike flavor is the only one to include the black nylon loop. The regular comes with "olive".

AT&T has already said that its NumberSync platform will be available on the watch for free, but you'll spend $10 a month to join it to an existing data plan.
You nailed it. It will be just like adding an iPad to an existing post paid plan. $10 extra a month.

I don't own and have no immediate plans of owning an Apple Watch, but my marathon friends have really wanted a watch that could make and receive phone calls while training. They already use the watch for monitoring their workout but have to carry their phone as well. This will make one less thing to carry.
Agreed. That is my use case. I already run without my phone for most runs (AW2+AirPods). But I occasionally go on long runs in the middle of nowhere, and I still take my phone. I don't want to be miles from assistance if I get hurt or sick.

I'm just not sure if I'll be able to use the LTE model with my company-paid cellphone.

What's with the red dot? Am I the only one that thinks it's ugly?

It's so others will know you have the latest and greatest.

Used to be that only the gold Edition (and maybe the Hermes?) had a colored dot.

The colored dot idea itself was ripped off from a Braun watch with a screen scroller wheel:

Perhaps not so coincidentally, that watch won a "Red Dot Design Award" in 2012.

So how much is the LTE going to cost a month?

Generally speaking it will be around $15 for AT&T. That is what they are charging for iPads. They sometimes have specials like when I got mine but it was only reduced to $10/month.

That red dot is silly. Looks like it's only on the cellular version though. I expected more improvements, it's obvious their focus was the iPhone X and $5k iMac Pro this year. They should have called it Series 2S. The hunt for a discounted series 2 watch begins. I'm guessing design changes will happen next year, but is it worth waiting for? Hmmm

I’m probably in the minority by I’m glad they are still making a WiFi only version. No sense having cell phone radiation plastered on my wrist 24/7...
Exactly. No need to update my Nike watch from last year. So that's nice. I even roll in airplane mode often throughout the day. Notifications can be distracting and it shuts off the bluetooth.

From Apple's website on the battery life for calls...

Up to 3 hours connected to iPhone
Over 1 hour connected to LTE

Ouch...
This is just for calls right? So it should still be much more time if you get pinged with messages? (hopefully)

Wow, this article has been up for nearly two hours and nobody has complained yet that the watch isn't round.

A new record, ladies and gentleman.

Battery life that is less than 3 days and NO round option are still show stoppers for me. My new Garmin Fenix is round and will last up to 2 weeks in "Smartwatch" mode (GPS/HR off).

Not sure what your point is, but just to be clear, I liked the Apple Watch since its first release. I liked the second one even more. This third release now brings a watch I consider worth my $500+.
