If this holds true my 6s will be my last iPhone because Apple is incapable of doing what every other company has been doing: keeping parity between phone sizes.
Apple has kept very close parity between its 4.7 & 5.5" phones. The only difference being in the camera module and the unavoidable larger battery in the larger model. And the SE is much closer to the top-end phone than what other manufacturers offer at that size.

I've seen that mockup before and I sincerely hope next years prototypes follow its design. Usually we have some knowledge of prototype devices that are currently being tested yet next years iOS product line is currently kept under extreme measures. This may truly be the first time Cook is "doubling down" on leaks.

"All three iPhone 8 models will use glass supplied by Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology ...
Because it is early in the development cycle, Nikkei warns that Apple's plans could still change and it could decide to scrap plans to offer three devices."

Specifically, it could decide to scrap the plan to work with Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology, on the grounds that they, apparently, cannot keep their mouths shut.
I don't see this this going down well with Apple management...

I feel like the leak was just a "Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology" stakeholder trying to boost their value. But then I'm a skeptical b.

Very possible. Notice how these analysts always say something along the lines of, "Apple may completely change their minds and not do the thing we're predicting?" You're never wrong when you make every bet.

Nice. The 4 was my favourite phone and surprisingly the most durable.

The 4 did glass backs the only way that's reasonable: Making them replaceable parts. You could remove that panel with a single screwdriver and pop a new one on if you cracked it. Not very likely with waterproofing involved.

If they remove the home button that will cause a mass exodus of customers.

Really? I thought they had all already left after the lack of replacement battery, then the lack of an SD card, then the lack of a USB slot, then the lack of a 3.5" jack!

Honestly, it's amazing that Apple has any customers these days, given the way they're unable to understand public demand.

I don't understand the appeal the edge to edge displays. I want there to be some bezel to hold, so my fingers do not curl over the display and cover up information. If the display is truly all the way to the edge, most apps will have to increase the margins, effectively negating any benefit.
Height-wise, your fingers will only cover maybe 15 to 20 % of the screen and very likely only on the left side. Almost all content has some whitespace at the borders or has usually non-essential content at the border (eg, photos). I really don't think obscuring content is of any real issue.

What is amazing is that you think you understand public demand given the success of the iPhone.

I upvoted you, but really, 4.2" is too big.

4.1" is the maximum size possible for one-handed use, in my opinion, and even that's pushing it.
I'd say 5.5" is really pushing it, but still just about doable with large-enough hands.

If the iphone 8 looks close that concept, I will be throwing my money at them.
You and millions of others :D Let's hope Apple manufactures more of the top-tier models from the outset, those models that invariably seem to be so much in demand.

You currently still can't get a JB 7+ in 256GB on a walk-in basis in many places. Artificially boosted demand for the highest-priced models?

Personally, I wouldn't mind something along the lines of that recently announced Xiaomi Mi Mix 6.4-inch edgeless design, aesthetically anyway, but with TouchId under-glass on the front of course.

They should focus on making their phones holdable again, without using a case. Enough with the bar soap slippery materials. And thin isn't everything (as Barbie found out), it's a fact that there is an optimum thickness to holding something in the human hand. Which is why the SE sells well and is the most comfortable for most people.

Just too bad they couldn't make it in the current iPhone sizes of 4.7 and 5.5.

What's amazing is that you don't understand sarcasm

Your sarcasm aside, unless they add a home button to the side of the phone this will be a nightmare navigating through apps.

Even then, it's not as fast and fluid as having your thumb able to use the home button.

Actually, yeah they won't remove the home button. That's just a dumb mock-up. Apple wouldn't be so silly to remove it.

Whats with all this fragmentation. I mean, i'll of course buy the bigger one, but making the smaller iPhones essentially lesser phones isn't right. But that's business, I guess. After all, smaller cars get less features too.
