System sounds seem to have stopped working entirely for me. Even though I have all the 'Sound' settings set to 'Internal Speakers' and the volume is right up, I'm not hearing any notifications, the trash bin is silent, no email whoosh. What's up?

I have given up on Spotlight, it doesn't find anything- just nothing. It just sits there doing nothing.

My Finder sidebar is perfect size, which makes me quite happy. And I've been listening to music for over an hour via USB DAC and there's no glitching! If either Google or Apple fix that odd Chrome bug where going to http://forum.popjustice.com breaks the browser, I'm installing this as my main system.

EDIT: Busted. They broke Reason again. Boo.

Good news: Parallels 10 can read the Boot Camp partition again!

Same news: Box Sync still doesn't work, but that's Box's issue

"Documents from October 2014" actually works which I was very surprised by.
Regular "Disk Utility" etc. typing brings up the application.
However, I tried "Weather in Amsterdam" and got a random .sql file from ages ago.

If I had to guess, to avoid as many issues as possible with people installing a beta on their main devices and complaining about bugs, thinking a beta should work perfectly... The public beta always comes out after a few DPs have been released. It's likely done to avoid the early showstoppers from messing up people's computers.

Basically this. The betas are always released to developers first because they know more about what they're doing and are more wise and clued up when it comes to major issues in betas. If Apple can get any crippling issues or bugs out before they give the beta to the public, then all the better. Because public WILL install it as their main OS, as I do. Yes, there's been a few moments where stuff is really buggy or some stuff just doesn't work. But I'm tech savvy enough to accept this is a beta. If I find something, I report it immediately and do my part to assist Apple in developing the software. Luckily, none of my devices are required for work so I can afford for things to go wrong.

TLDR: It makes sense for developers to be given betas first. Very big issues need to be spotted and removed before public get their hands on anything.

Sadly, the UVC Camera support is still problematic. I have several devices which no longer are recognized by my apps where they once were.

Pop this into Terminal. Try Spotlight again.

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

My finder retains width changes I make for the sidebar just fine, as it did with the last public beta.

Oh! I thought that was just me. My Finder side bar would not retain width changes at all. I hated that it was too small so everything was shortened. Now I've dragged it out to fit everything on and it seems to be sticking. That was on odd bug...

I may be wrong but I am noticing that Apple may have implemented "Folders on Top" Feature. I have set arrange by name and sort by kind - doing this shows all my folder before my files with the exception of M4r audio files.

Doesn't work for me. It does group folders but there's a bunch of other files on top of them.

Xtrafinder says it works in 10.11 beta but it actually doesn't seem to do anything...

They were probably using deprecated APIs, and an update prior to the release of iOS7 removed those APIs, meaning those developers fixed their own apps.

lol you must have not read my comment, i clearly stated that apple fixed that. implying that Facebook and the others didn't update their apps during that time.

Well... we don't know where the bug is... Could be in El Capitan, could be in After Effects. We just don't ****ing know. There is not point in attacking or defending any of them. Also, they're ****ing corporations, they don't really need your help, just your money.

yup

I just updated and a big problem I had went away. Some screensavers (arabesque and shells) were flashing like a strobe light when they ran. In addition, some games like Heroes of the Storm were doing the same thing while running in full screen mode. This has been fixed.

I have a question about Mail though. In the message composition window, it is impossible to add text labels to the toolbar. Is this intended or a bug?

I haven't restarted. Obviously OS X is having identity problems.

Photoshop and Lightroom CC15 work

Office is completely dead and crashes on launch. Why release a public beta on the public that kills the most commonly used apps in the world?
