I don't care about QuickTime, I don't care about Safari, I really don't care about security or compatibility, just PLEASE make my computer NOT freeze and reboot by itself constantly! If it only crashed every 2 weeks, that would be fine! Just set that variable that defines how often the damn computer crashes to a larger interval!

WTF dude, even 2 weeks is not acceptable. My laptop can stay on 6 months straight without any reboot.

You might have a hardware issue and not related to the OS. There's no frigging veriable either in the OS for crashing it. Jesus christ, just take it to an Apple store and have them run hardware tests on it.

I hope it fixes the Preview app. I'm sick of 20MB pdf's causing 500 GB of swap files.

Do I really need to bump up to 6 GB of RAM just to manipulate pdfs?
Try a different PDF software instead. like Acrobot or something instead.

You do realize that these symptoms match hardware failure.

Front Row

I wish they would replace Front Row with the AppleTV in all Mac computers.

I've loaded all my DVDs (TV shows and DVDs) onto an external hard drive that I connect to my Nov '09 Mac Mini when I hook it up to my 46" flat screen HDTV (which is when I don't have it with me at work.

I've bought a few movies through iTunes on my Mac Mini. I won't be buying anymore unless I can buy the HD version of it and it is on par price wise as BlueRay disks (DVDs are NOT HD).

Note: I have a second external hard drive (both FireWire 800 HDDs) which I backup with TimeMachine.

I was joking about the variable, come on! And I will take it to the Apple store once I get into a country that actually has one.

Random hangs / crashing eh ?

NFS has caught me on two OS X upgrades now . Random freezing of all kinds of apps and especially Finder… hard to pinpoint.

So if you use NFS (your SL being client), better check that there’s no firewall blocking any ports that NFS needs on the server.

After catching that the 10.6.2 has been rock solid for me.

PS. Better add that I upgraded the server at the same time with the SL client so that’s what screwed the NFS server setup / server firewall.

I doubt anyone has a card that takes advantage of Open GL 3.0 on the Mac platform. So is this an indication that the Mac Pro will be getting an HD 5000 series card in the future?
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/opengl_3_driver.html
http://blogs.amd.com/play/2009/12/17/ati-catalyst™-9-12-driver-–-what’s-new/

Any nVidia or ATI GPU that supports DX10.0 already supports OpenGL 3.2. OpenGL 3.0 support on DX10 GPUs has been available for Windows and Linux for more than a year now. Basically anything ATI HD2000 and nVidia 8000 series and up, or most Macs in the last 2 years are awaiting Apple enabling OpenGL 3.0+ functionality. No new hardware required.

omg all i have to ask is sort the damn issue with Time Capsule and using it as an external hard drive, when i copy single files such as movies or music files they are continuously in use by Mac OS X even after restart and this is until another file is copied, yet it does it with all files!!! FIX IT

Yes, but then how come I had zero issues with Leopard?

Maybe something external? There is no way your Mac will start to reboot every hour or so only because something is wrong with OS (which is fine by the way). it's either hardware or third party drivers.

 <---- Look. This is Mr. Ballmer. He is spending every night on macforums, trying to click as many negatives he can without being noticed...

At least is not other nonsense information about the tablet. I think I'll stay away from this website till the tablet arrives.

Awww - where's your sense of adventure?

totally kidding, tho - btw. The rumors have gotten a bit over-the-top. But then again, there's not been a whole lot else to cover Apple-wise of late :D

What performance problems are you facing?

I find Snow Leopard to be rock solid since 10.6.2.

I keep a can of Raid next to mine its so buggy. Just today I had to hold the power button down to restart - that hang was that bad. The dock goes bye-bye every week or so. BeachBall everywhere. This is a poor OS.

I'm using a 17 inch Uniboidy MacBook Pro, so its not as if I'm using a PowerPC based MacMini.

I've not had any problems so far, but I'm looking forward to the update.

Why? cause for 9 years updates have worked pretty well for me.

I just hope 10.6.3 brings back compatibility with Matrox MXO drivers for Mac Pros with ATI cards. Judging from Matrox's forums, the ball is in Apple's court and there's nothing they can do about it. :(

My one hope for this update is that the QuickTime fix(es?) do something about whatever the heck it is that causes my dock to occasionally (and seemingly completely at random) hide itself after I've been watching a video in fullscreen mode.

My experience is exactly the opposite. Running it on an early 08 Macbook Pro, 4gb RAM, with numerous devices attached to it via 3 USB hubs.

Worst case, try a clean install. Although normally you shouldn't have to.

System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D538)

System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D538)

Working great so far, fixed all the issues seen with the D522 build.
