How do you get access to iOS on Appleseed Beta. I am member of the Mac OS X Beta, have been for a while though don't have access to iOS Betas.

LOLOL if they don't give that to the 6+ they are insane. it'll be the first jb tweak as long as it isn't stripped from the ipsw.

Exactly. But the code was dug up before the iPhone 6 launched I think. It was largely speculation. The unfinished code only worked on iPad in landscape mode, so very unfinished.

So much white space on the iPad music app. Also, plenty of room to place buttons but instead there is a dropdown? Wtf kinda design is that? I hope it is just not finished yet and that's why it looks so terrible.

The iOS 6 iPad Music app was awesome. It has been a huge step backwards since iOS 7 and this doesn't look like it is making it any better...

This is true. It was better on iPhones as well.

Why do you have to use a drop down menu to switch views in music instead of having all the icons along the bottom like they are now? You're loosing ground Apple.

Agree with this. Another deal-breaker for me: when you are listening to an album you can no longer "flip over" the cover to get to the album's tracklist. This is being replaced by "up next" which is something I don't typically use.

That iPad version still looks stale and clinical.

I still can't get it how someone was able to create such uninspired designs as the current artist and especially the album view...no change even when switching to landscape mode....

nope then it's gone... signing in on the app store or trying to sign in for iTunes match and it's all gone

Looks like a bug where even locally downloaded stuff will only show if show all music is enabled... I've tried all combinations of signing in / out of the iTunes store and disabling / enabling iTunes Match and Show All Music and the only way it shows me the local stuff on my phone is with both iTunes Match and Show All Music enabled...

But then the fun part - put your phone into Airplane mode and bam, all your music disappears again.... although weirdly it knows that tracks are available locally because the song that is currently playing when you turn on airplane mode carries on playing fine and has full information availablle in the Now Playing screen even though the library shows No Music.

I foresee quite a few 8.4 betas as this is a BIG change to the Music app and if even the basics are still this flakey in beta 2....

Update: Interestingly the Music app seems to treat entering Airplane mode differently than manually turning off both wifi and cellular data individually.... turn them off yourself and local music stays visible and playable - you still need show all music on to see your music in the first place - whereas turning Airplane Mode on immediately takes you back to the No Music / No Playlists screens...

Two big questions:

Have they given the option of playing music in Landscape rather than Coverflow? Similar to how the iPad plays music in landscape.

Is the scrubbing feature still buggy and broken like it's been since iOS 7? As in sometimes it just wildly jumps around to different parts of the song rather than where you actually moved the needle with your finger?

anyone here having problems with battery percentage jumping? 55-53% in sec and ....? 8.3 same.

  • iOS gets an updated "Photos" app.
  • "iPhoto" gets replaced with a similar-looking "Photos" app.
  • iOS gets an updated "Music" app.
I wonder what's going to happen next on OS X....

I wonder if the "i" era is finally being wiped away. Will the iPhone become the Apple Phone? I wouldn't be surprised at all if iTunes was renamed Music or something like that.

I think you have to be "selected" to join it. I, too, have been a public beta tester of OS X since it started, but I can't find anywhere to enroll in the iOS public betas.

Someone told me you had to be active in reporting bugs, which I haven't been in OS X betas.

Yeah this certainly must be a bug.

To be honest, can't understand how this got beyond alpha testing. As a functional guy who needs to do testing too, this is a pretty big missed one.

Also I have iTunes radio now here in Belgium. I mean the icon is there, but the functionality isn't lol.

no wait, after resetting the music app, the radio is gone haha

Yeah, this particular beta seems pretty bad. Everyone in my office has decided to stick with 8.3 for now, mostly because of the Music bug.

It's rare to see such a regression from Apple.

I don't mind signing out of iTunes, but it keeps prompting me to sign back in. It's really annoying. I reported it nonetheless.

I can actually use the music app now without music ending early or app crashing. But the search function still isn't fully working. I can't use the three dots for the up next functionality within search. I can click on the song to play but no more. They added playlist into the search though

I've been getting around this by searching, tapping the album, and then from album view you can up next. I'm sure this will get fixed by stable

Hey everyone,

For those complaining about losing the ability to tap on the album art, and see the song list. The functionality is still there. Pull down on the album art, and it pulls the album cover down, and shows the list of songs, and at the bottom is the song that's playing. To get back to the album cover, tap the song at the bottom that's playing.

Hope this helps everyone.

Will try to submit pics in a minute.

Also, downloading music from iTunes Match was one tap: the cloud with the arrow.
Now it are two taps and in between waiting for a submenu? How annoying!

'Make music available offline'
