If this truly is an Apple watch event, it has peculiar timing. It's at least a full month before it's release. Either it's something else (iPad Pro, MBA) or they have some significant new features that would require such a time lag. Maybe something for developers??

Remember for iPad/iPhone they always have the event a week and a half before release. And for the iPhone/iPad initial launch sure they announced months in advance, but I don't believe they had another whole media event dedicated to announce it's launch/further details...

For the gen one iPhone and iPad, there was a final announcement about a month before they went on sale, detailing date and final price and specs.

Officially excited. Way more excited now than I was when the watch was first announced... Let's just hope it carries over until the watch actually hits stores, which could easily be another 7 or 8 weeks, seeing as they said April, and Apple almost always opts to fully utilize the time under their self-imposed deadlines.

Not always. They could announce that pre-sales start that Friday (the 13th?), or more realistically, the 20th if they plan to ship early in April. The time between iPhone launches and shipment dates is very short.

Pairing a watch-related event with the beginning of DST when clocks need to be re-adjusted is a stroke of marketing genius.

The only issue I see with this is that the clock moves FORWARD in California by an hour the previous day. Most countries don't move forward an hour on March 8. This means that people in different countries that do calculations of when this event starts, might miscalculate by an hour and miss the first hour of the presentation.

All the more reason they need to buy a watch that changes time automatically. :D

If the watch isn't available in Canada at launch, can I pre-order it at the US Apple Store online?

just do what I do,

have a friend in the US order it for you, then ship up to you. its cumbersome, but sometimes the only way I can get stuff up here that isn't otherwise sold.

the timing seems about right for a new product launch.

the original iPhone was shown in January, then a "full release" at WWDC in June, then it went on sale ~3 weeks later.

the iPad was announced the end of January, pre-orders started mid march, and it went on sale in stores in April.

If only I had a friend in the US. Guess all I can hope is that its available in both countries at launch..or soon after the US launch.

Maybe we'll see something about the Apple TV....You know a product most of us have or want.

My wrist is ready, and for once so is my wallet! I've been waiting (not so) patiently for this!

Awesome! Finally all the Apple Watch price rumors will be put to rest. :)

Yeah, they'll just start complaining about how high they are. Haha :D

Oh god, you just reminded me of all the scalpers from the 6 and 6+, I hope this won't be a repeat.

If the Edition is $5K or less, I'm in. If it's 10K+, I'm going for a collection of Stainless Steel watches. If it's $7,500...

Just imagine the uproar on the tech sites if Gruber is right and they have a $20K version. Grab some popcorn!

Was joking... But I'm really curious to see it... Was the dev kit released? Is there any app yet? I still believe that it gonna just be an announce and real sales will come in 2 months... And what about battery? Lol I saw a Samsung gear watch at shop and this is ridiculous... So how can apple revolution the world? And as a Swiss citizen how they gonna blow out hand made watch market??

well they have also stated it will go on sale in april, so less than two months.

dev kit? they released watch kit for developers to build apps, and have updated Xcode to support the watch in the simulator. Its also been said that apple has invited developers to there HQ to test apps on actual watches.
