If only I had a friend in the US. Guess all I can hope is that its available in both countries at launch..or soon after the US launch.

fair enough:

there are a couple other options if you don't have a US friend.

there are some sites in Buffalo that will drop ship for you. There are also some that will let you ship to buffalo and drive down to pick up. Just depends on how much you're willing to spend (and how close you are).

for example: my cousin just bought a new Chandelier for their house (its so ugly), but they refused to ship to Canuckistan, so they drop shipped it to Buffalo, and drove down to pick it up

there are options for us, just costs extra and takes a little extra time.

So an event to announce they've finally figured out how to deal with DST, or just a reminder to workaround all the things that fail to work right after a seasonal time change?

This suggests that the shipping dates will be early in April. I can hardly wait. I'm definitely getting one or two. The question is whether it's one Edition, or two of the lower tier models.

That's an option for me as I'm only couple hours from Buffalo. I'll be crossing my fingers that it'll be available here at launch or month later at the latest. Would give more time to save for the Watch Edition if its not too much :)

My birthday is March 15. Anyone want to preorder me a Stainless Steel link bracelet? :D

I will, if you pre-order a rose gold edition for my half-birthday.

The Walden Galleria Apple Store in Buffalo, NY (90 minutes from Toronto) is packed with Canadian Apple fans when any new release product comes out that's not available in Canada.

Another option is to rent a US postal box at a UPS store. You'll then have an American Address to send to.

Or make friends with a Tim Horton's owner in Buffalo and send the watch to that Tim Horton's address. :)

I'll be watching for watch details and hopefully an Apple TV update. I've been resisting the urge to buy another Apple TV and I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out.

Get 2 and you can wear the second one in the evening when the battery on the first has run out!

don't know what "baja Ontario" means, as i'm not familiar with Baja.

but yeah, us Southern Ontarians more commonly refer to Buffalo as North America's Armpit.

only reason for going: Shopping. Otherwise, it's a scummy place that we try and avoid.

I'm a teacher and this is the first day of Spring Break for me! I won't have to ignore my students for 2 hours!! Yay!

I watched the iPhone 6/Apple Watch event on mute while they were taking a test. This will be so much better!

IMO any Apple TV update will come at WWDC. They are going to want to keep the focus on the Watch at this event.

Pairing a watch-related event with the beginning of DST when clocks need to be re-adjusted is a stroke of marketing genius.

A bit of a stretch don't you think? it happens twice a year. Not everything they do is marketing genius..some of it, and some of it isn't. Remember ping?

Hmm so few model leak so where is production stock going? Anyway the iPhone 6 Samsung is also ready ;)

Seriously what will be the autonomy? 2 days? This is my major concern. If you need morphie watch case for lasting a day... No buy

Haven't been to the Walden Galleria in probably 2 decades. we used to go down every christmas break as a family for a couple days for epic shopping trips for my mom and sister while my bro, dad and I would sit around the hotel bored off our minds. (Though NOTHING beats buffalo wings right rom Duff's or Anchor Bar)

having an Apple store makes that trip somewhat worthwhile now if there's ever an Apple Product I need thats not available here. Thanks for the heads up!

But what about pebble time??

I wonder how many people will be canceling their orders???

once they see what and real smart watch can do???

If this truly is an Apple watch event, it has peculiar timing. It's at least a full month before it's release. .
I'm hoping during the interval the watches will get into the stores, and we'll have time to see them in person and then get in a preorder. I' having a heck of a time figuring what model to get. Knowing prices will help, but I also want to try the thing on my wrist.

Nice, looking forward to see this event. Just hope something else besides the watch but I doubt Apple will share the spotlight.

Why wouldn't they? Apple isn't going to launch the 12-inch rMBA without an event, and that's heavily expected to share the stage with the Apple Watch.

i don't think they will make an event just for the apple watch

Oh, I think you'll find they will.

From a practical POV:

(a) it will affect which VIPs they invite to the launch: for the :apple:Watch they're going to want to pack it with fashonista types who will go gooey over designer watch straps but won't be interested in new Macs.

(b) there will be massive media hype about the watch so any other announcements would be drowned out.

Nothing's impossible but I would be very surprised if they launch anything non-iWatch related, unless it's a $6000 Solid Gold Edition iPhone to match your $5000 solid gold :apple:Watch (never take $5000 from a fool if you can possibly get $11000 out of them instead).

at first glance reminded me of the BP logo

I dont think it's coincidence in this case.

the event is called "Spring Forward". which is a common terminology taught to remember the direction you're supposed to move your clocks.

in the winter we get "Fall back" to move our clocks backwards. and in spring we get "Spring forward" to remind us to move forwards.

purposely using this terminology is pure marketing from Apple. And very well done. it combines existing popular culture terminology that many people know off the top of their heads, with a product launch, that also coincides with better weather.

I predicted this in particular. For one thing they will get an idea of which portions of the line will have higher demand. Also devs need more time to deal with an entirely new platform. I would not be surprised to see devs gain early access to Apple Watch samples.

Cook noted that Apple is "learning quickly about customer preferences between the different configurations" and that the company will be making adjustments to get in line with demand.
