Penrith! Apple must be lowering their standards - expanding like Starbucks. I thought Apple only opened retail stores in high socioeconomic status areas/shopping centres. Penrith is a hole.

You're joking right? Everyone living west of Blacktown and living in the Blue Mountains will now have an Apple store they can drive too. And Penrith plaza is one of the nicer shopping centres in the city.

Penrith itself is a large area with many suburbs.

New location in Houston just down the street -- not sure if that's a good thing?

Nothing beats the flagship stores, though.

But if it's more regular Apple Stores vs less flagship stores, I would go for more regular.

quit rubbing it in-I live 250 miles from the nearest Apple Store-FML...

And Microsoft is only opening 75 over a year?
Haha they have no chance.

Tallahassee to Pensacola , Florida...

There isnt an Apple store from Tallahassee to Pensacola ( In between these are Panama City Beach, Destin , Miramar Beach , San Destin (Home of San Destin Golf and beach resort) Niceville (Where one of the Jim Carey movies were filmed way back when..) Fort Walton Beach, Navarre , Crestview... You get the point. This area is mostly Military/ Tourists playground or people that know what it would be like to have an Apple store here.
Best Buy is ok, but when your dealing with these off brand companies to do repairs on your Mac and them telling you it wont be fixed for 1-2 weeks (And you send people in the 3rd party repair store certified by Apple as an official 3rd party Apple repair center and the people working there playing with your merchandise and others and bragging about how they are going to include a *software Glitch * that caused a hardware problem so that the person has to pay out of pocket and not be covered by the extended care warranty) and then be handed a bill like your stupid enough to fall for paying them for a hardware problem caused by hardware failure.....

These companies are getting rich off of hard working people. Best Buy cant help. You have to officially take your merchandise to a repair shop. I live in Destin Florida and I was told that in home repair for a mac is out and I would have to take it to one of these shade tree mechanics in the past.

I said all of that to say this : APPLE,
Please investigate areas that are fully populated with surrounding cities that are points of interest on foreigners scopes or has a plethora of tourism and plop a store there! The nearest Apple Retail Store is Tennessee!!

I believe they wanted to open 75 stores over a two year period.

In all reality, I don't think the MS stores are a bad idea. There are those that will never buy a Mac and the MS store is a place to go where the associates actually know MS software, as opposed to the useless people at Best Buy.

On the other hand, I think the Apple Store has really helped in the growth of Apple. Most people in the Apple store are not intending on buying something at that moment, but, they get a chance to experience Apple's products and the seed gets planted in their mind that they just might want to invest in an Apple product in the future. It really helps in converting PC users to Mac.

A new Apple Store every 50 hours.

Apple's retail VP recently left to run J.C. Penny. I wonder if they are replacing him with the CEO of Starbucks.

When I'm at the Apple Store they're sometimes TOO nice...they won't let me leave and are always trying to help me/hook me up with tips and stuff. I'm not rude so I listen, but if Microsoft wants to be successful with these stores...they need the same type of employees. Because those Best Buy idiots and a lot of other people trying to sell their stuff are morons.

There are 0. Zero. Apple stores in the Scandinavian countries! My nearest Apple Store, (not Apple retailer, those are everywhere) is in BERLIN, GERMANY! 12 HOURS by car! Or maybe by air plane to London in 2.5 hours + 1 hour by taxi, Come on Apple. Give us some love!
I totally agree. I was just talking to my sister about her recent trip to finland and she commented on how countries like finland used to be at the forefront of mobile technologies and how far they have fallen behind North America in actual use of mobile by ordinary people.

A lot of people might have mobile phones but there are a lot less "smart phones" there partly because Nokia concentrated on feature phones and so the average finn would not even think of using their phone for maps or casually installing apps and games like people do here with iPhones and Android devices. They use dedicated GPS and computers for what you can just use your phone for.

Apple should have at least one Apple store in Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen.

We need more Apple stores in Atlanta. Every time I go to one of them, it's completely full.

I wonder if Microsoft will be able to keep up.

Too crowded, huh?...

Maybe Apple should do like they did with CompUSA and negotiate with Microsoft, "a store within a store" for crowd control of Apple's success. The MS stores are close enough to Apple stores that it's shouldn't be a problem for an Apple employee to punch in at the Apple store and then walk over to the MS store to sell tons of Apple products.

Who knows, maybe MS might sell something too! ;)

In my local Apple Store, there are almost never enough associates to help out. The place is packed at 2pm on a Wednesday. It's crazy. I will say, I have used Apple Tech Support at the Apple Store, and they were great. The regular associates have always been helpful too. Never pushy and usually pretty educated. I like the fact that they don't work on commission.

I agree with you about the MS stores. They need associates similar in character and attitude to that of the Apple Store. Best Buy is useless and it's only a matter of time before they go out of business. Plus, Geek Squad is a rip off and if PC users can get help at the MS store, there is no need to pay an absurd amount of money to have a geek who lives in their moms basement analyzing their computer
