GOOD NEWS! I have REAL data.

As of 8:15pm ET, Apple Retail stores are COMPLETELY sold out in the US besides stores in California, where it is currently only 5:15PM. Those will be gone later tonight, as usual. This is according the istocknow, so please start punching holes in the quality of the data.

Any questions?

You're sooooo cool.
No, I just know more about AAPL than you. I am an investor, so I literally see everything because I make it a point to do so. I don’t research AAPL because I am a fanboy...I know the facts because I am very long.

Remember when consumers asked for an iPhone in 2006? Oh wait, that never happened.

These ads honestly make me feel very sad - the banality, the triviality of the times we live in. When such expensive toys and smart people bring us... this.
Amusing ourselves to death.
You could not have said it any better. I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees this.

Apple, the company that wants $1,000 for a phone, spends millions of dollars advertising it's most technologically advanced and astonishing feature - Animoji. Brilliant. It reminds me of the old Mac vs PC commercial where PC is trying to allocate money between fixing Vista and advertising.

And why the push for FaceID brainwash... I mean, advertising?

FaceID is the most advanced tech in the X. Animoji is just for fun and people like it.

Regarding the ads that tout the reliability of FaceID:

My experience in 10 days with the iPhone X is different than depicted in these ads. It works on the first try only 2/3 of the time.

The rest of the time, I usually have to manually enter my password to unlock the phone or to open an app. Usually not a big deal, but some apps, like my credit card and banking apps, have strong passwords that I absolutely cannot remember; so when FaceID doesn't work, I have to open my password manager, look up the password the app needs, copy it, then go back into the app and paste it.

This isn't horrible by any means, but it is definitely not the smooth FaceID experience that Apple seems to be promising.

I don't see how it could be? It is new tech and even TouchID doesn't work 100%. My wife for some reason can't get TouchID to work above 1/3 of the time without training the same fingerprint on 4 different "profiles". At least that helps.

All stock gone at Apple Retailers sil stores tonight. Every store in America had stock this morning, now gone.

Explain the difference.

My girlfriends iPhone X. I tested it after watching Marques Brownlee’s review.
Go to the 11:19 mark.
I don’t really care to have the feature on my 8 Plus, but it’s pretty upsetting knowing Apple does this to their loyal customers.

Doh!!! Rogifan must be new, Apple did this same maneuver with Siri. Pile on the new gimmicky stuff only on the latest and greatest regardless of if it will work on the existing. Then, say it only works on the latest and greatest. I don't much care, I am not dying for animoji but it is still a $#1t move by Apple.

I can vouch for the changing face claim. I registered my clean shaven face with Face ID when I got my iPhone X 3 weeks ago and now I have a full beard. Face ID unlocks me perfectly.

Face ID works as advertised. Completely seamless and invisible once you forget about it.

"When such expensive toys and smart people bring us... this."

"Typical apple, holding out on features from all it’s older customers."

This soup is terrible ...

And the portions are so small!

Brilliant adverts i especially like the one about Face ID working in the dark, Face ID is a brilliant feature and one of my favourites. I have tested Facial ID since owning the X and it works really well in the dark, on my desk, at angles and even when wearing and taking off my glasses.

Regardless of the Anamoji (no i don't use them) i think the iPhone X was a great upgrade from my 7 Plus. I like how these adverts are short but highlight some great features of Face ID (working in the dark, adapts to your face and so on).

That first ad is absolutely pathetic. Jesus Christ, is this what Apple has come to? Is that innovation? I call bulls*t. The iPhone X is the defining product of the Tim Cook era. Take that as you will.

I beg your pardon--that's a Hershey's chocolate drop unwrapped

What are you .... LMAO! Well payed!!

Lol.

Why is it so bad to enjoy ourselves a bit once in a while? Light up people...if something brings joy to people, why not?

I didn’t get the X for the Animojis, but they’re fun and my wife loves me sending some to her. Makes her smile and chuckle, and that makes me happy, so i’m Into using this feature more and more! It’s worth marketing!

The joy of communication is what you and your wife enjoy, this Animoji is just another fun way of doing that. That’s great honestly.

Most of us find it pathetic that this great technology only has 2 features only eat imagined by Apple and fans. That THIS is to present the next 10 yrs of the smartphone envisioned by Apple going forward as per their special presentation of 2017! That it’s balooned the cost significantly... that’s what’s causing the unrest of this debate.

I really works. Just like with dogs, owners migrate to resemble their own animoji over time.
(working out as youth whelk withering, in this amazing generation. Joni must have known that, he's such a genius...)

An anecdotal assumption I presume you're conflating. It's about the technology, not just the Animoji's.

I think you need to re read what I typed. Yes I’m in agreement it’s about the technology. But the technology that’s increased cost to only show a fun silly use for it. It’s about being fun and silly other than locking for phone.

For me I really like the X and will probably buy it in 2018 but for the screen, resolution better touch gestures faster camera and FaceID but not for animoji

Samsung has done well, but .....
Apple spent $11.5B in R&D in 2017. Rumors point to autonomous cars and AR glasses among other things like Micro LED panels. Jury is out on foldable phones, lol. ....
For those $12B, Apple not only created animoji. It invented customers behaving like zombies.
