I've got the black silicone case on my gold iphone 6, and it looks amazing.

I would just like to know, how do you think we should take off the case to avoid ripping it?

It seems this is a common problem with the silicone case. I had it happen to me as well:

To me the problem seems to be, that the case has a hard plastic core and it is only covered in silicone. This helps it to be pretty stiff (great!), but also more susceptible to the silicone coming off (not so great...). And all the ones i have seen that developed that flaw have it at the exact same spot.

Same thing happened to me. I switched back to the leather case as a result.

I have the green silicone case for my 6 - no corner issues.

I have a Vera Bradley hipster I put it in... while at the dentist with my daughter this morning I was taking a snap of her X-ray and then went to put it away.... and missed the pocket.

So it fell about 36", starting vertical, onto a tile floor landing face down between my feet.

I was, um, worried to pick it up.... but it was fine.

I'm happy and have no plans to repeat it - but it was a real world test for me, and I guess I won't be as paranoid about dropping it on carpet in that case.

Ordered yesterday this green Apple Silicone case. Hope it will have no issues.

So how are you all still feeling about your silicone cases now that you've had them for awhile?

I have the white one for my silver Plus and still really like it. I've tried a few other super thin polycarbonate cases which are fine but without much grip. So each time I try a new case and then go back to the silicone, I'm happy all over again. So I'm totally finished looking now. And I've been pleasantly surprised that the white case has not stained and still looks great with almost two months of use.

After ripping my silicone case I decided to try the Apple leather case and actually prefer it now.

However, thanks to this thread I found out about the 1-year warranty on the cases and will try and get my silicone case replaced when I get a chance to go to the Apple Store again and have it as a second case option.

For all of you who can't decide between the Leather or the Silicone, keep both. I have the Olive Brown Leather, for my 6Plus Gold. Decided to get the Red Silicone, and love it too. Not returning either, I will just switch off when I feel the need to change cases. They are both excellent cases, and I like that I can switch between the 2.

Just can't get past the bottom of these cases being unprotected. I have the Speck grip in white and although I do like it the Apple silicone case looks so handsome. Just afraid of getting scratches on the bottom even though I am so careful with my iPhone. And I do have a tempered glass protector so the lip may not be high enough.

Im on the same boat.

Apple cases are lovely, but that exposed bottom is not pleasing me at all.

I wonder if anyone has nice recommendation for cases that look like the apple's but have a closed bottom!

I was exactly like you before buying my leather case, however, now I have it, it is the thinnest case I h ave tried, which provides decent grip and protection.

The exposed bottom is not really an issue - there is enough 'lay on the table design' in the case that if you drop it and it falls flat on the screen side, the screen itself will not touch the ground (the lip of the case will be making contact instead of the screen).

Similarly, if you drop your phone and it lands on the exposed part, the corners of the case will actually stop the exposed part of the phone touching the ground, so again, the exposed part is still safe.

The ONLY scenario where the exposed part will take damage is if it lands on the edge of something, like a table, for example, but you gotta be quite unlucky for that to happen!

;)

I love my Apple silicone case. Although my preference would be for 360 edge coverage, I don't worry about the exposed bottom. I have clear access to the plugins and cannot imagine that I would drop my phone and hit this exposed edge. Every time I've ever dropped before the corner took the hit.

I'm doing the same as well. I have the black leather and the red silicone, and both are excellent cases. Overall I prefer the leather. It feels a bit nicer in the hand in my opinion, and there's no lint issue that I have with the silicone. I had the black leather on the past two weeks and switched to the red silicone again last night, but I'm already becoming annoyed with the lint again. Otherwise, I really like it. However, my guess is the leather will stay on the phone about 85% of the time.

I picked up a red silicone case for my space gray 6 Plus. I originally planned to purchase the leather version, but after handling the display cases, I thought the silicone felt sturdier; featured richer, bolder colors; and was $10 cheaper. As others have said, this is not the nasty silicone material I remember encountering on eBay in past purchases.

Like others, I planned to return the case once I found a more permanent solution, but I'm now reconsidering. The case looks classy, especially with the Apple logo on the back and the minimalist design; feels well constructed; and adds little bulk.

The biggest issue with this case, IMO, is the fact that it leaves the bottom of the phone totally exposed. (I don't have confidence that my phone would survive a drop in this case unscathed.) That alone might be enough for me to go through with my plan to return it when I find something else that offers more protection.

About 2 months in with my red one now and its holding up great, no rips, and the exposed bottom is a non issue for me....

How are the leather ones doing, for the ones that have them for a long time now?

I heard that it scuffs easily, water or sweat can easily damage it, can be scratched like hell, gets discolored rapidly, etc etc. Overall, by the comments I've been reading, seems a very very fragile case that won't hold on for more than a few months.

With all those drawbacks I'm 99% sure I'll go with the silicon version. I mean, there seems to be NO reasonable arguments for picking the leather. There's only the emotional feeling of a more premium and nice case, at least when it's still new.

Nice thread with great pictures and user experiences. One thing I still don't understand is how you can return a used product in your countries ! Either makeup or phonecases or anything else. In the Netherlands, where I live, you can only return a product if it's in the original unopened package, and unused. Unless there is something clearly wrong with it. And otherwise it's your loss. Let alone I use it for 1 month, waiting for another better case, and then return it .

On topic: I cannot decide between the leather midnightblue and one of the silicone cases. I like the feeling of the silicones more, but I think those colours are too bright for me. Too bad they don't have navy blue, dark purple or green cases :D.

In the states - most products have a short "just return" policy usually somewhere around 14 or 30 days - stores have their own policies. Then most products will also come with a warranty time frame - 90 days to a year. Some companies have total satisfaction for the life of the product. LLBean has the lifetime return policy. The companies that have the super friendly return policies usually also have a premium price.

I am a very fussy customer and only buy from a vendor with good return policies. I am ethical with my returns and would not claim a defective product if it wasn't but I refuse to keep something that isn't top quality.

I've had the white one for almost 2 months and mine still looks like new. I bought a bunch of other cases and had the silicone on and off many times with no problems with the corners.

Return it for a new one or a refund. I really like my white silicone case and have a spare in the event something went wrong with the first one. After all the cases I've tried, I like the Apple silicone the best and have stopped looking.

I am with you that I won't keep something that isn't top quality, but in NL both parties need to agree that the product does not meet its' standards when you want to return it while you have used it. Depends on the product of course. In this case, a used iPhone case from an originally sealed package cannot be returned unless there is something 'wrong' with it.

FYI ... As seen in above pic my apple silicon case, in my opinion, was defective. Went to Apple Store and they said I'd had more than 14 days so it was mine. Nothing they could would do just sorry your out of luck. I'll probably sticking with my much cheaper, and my opinion, superior cases from Amazon for $20. Meh

I have taken my silicone case off a few times since launch and mine still looks new. Could be that some are defective or maybe the way the case some people take them off? I don't pull on the corner but take it off about half way between the bottom and half way point on the case so I don't put pressure on the thinner bottom edge
