Went to the Apple Store with the intent of buying an Apple leather case. Left with a red silicone case.

It is very well made. Looks very complementary with my space grey iPhone 6.

Love it.

I have been using the apple silicone in black on my 6+, it offers just enough grip while holding so I can do most tasks one handed without it slipping out of my hand. It has been a great case!

I agree. I love the extra grip and just the feel in hand of the silicone. I think it's a a personal thing - you either like the distinct feel of silicone or you don't.

Apple Silicone Case

I use those mini alcohol wipe swabs that the healthcare people use to clean your skin before giving you a shot. The ones that are individually wrapped come in a box of 200 for about $3.00 at any drug store. I had been annoyed at how greasy the case can become and these do a good job. Soap and water works, but this is quick and easy, and dries instantly. Obviously you get the added benefit of disinfecting your case too, just don't use them on you screen because the alcohol will strip off the oleophobic coating. My lint-free cloth is then only used on the screen which keeps it cleaner longer.

I work in healthcare and have been doing exactly this since I bought the case! I wipe it regularly and have noticed no fading or damage! I like how I can disinfect and clean this case so easily.

Came from an apple leather case to the red silicone and I like the silicone a lot better the grip it gives is what I was looking for

So the Apple Red didn't work out for you? Did you not like the wear of the read leather or just wanted the silicone feel? I can't do silicone because its a lint magnet.

I have until Friday to return my Apple Red Leather case, I like it, hasn't changed in the week like most say. I've been using it since May 9th. I have a black one already tho. Anyways, just following up with you. I saw your post in a Apple Leather discussion.

Do you find a difference in feel between the red and black leather? The reason I ask is because when I first looked at the leather cases I looked at the red and thought the quality was shockingly bad. Then I heard someone say that the red leather felt different so I went back and had a look at the navy leather and it was much better, so much so that I bought it and later got it in black and brown. Over the weekend I was thinking some more about it and thought the red one in the apple shop was the problem so I got my wife to pick one up when she was passing.

I have now applied leather cream a few times and it still feels bad. Even the grain in the red leather looks different to the other colours.

Good question. I will check it out when I get home and update this response. I can say it seems to feel the same.

Here is my red leather now after a week or so. I keep it in my pocket and when laying it down, mostly on furniture and tissue/paper towel when laying on hard surfaces.

**update

black vs red leather case feel, I will say that there is a slight difference. The black does feel better but probably because I had it longer.

I don't know how anyone can say the silicone case is not a lint magnet. For those that say it isn't, you must be REAL lucky.

Here you go. I just put the empty case in my jeans and then pulled right back out. This is without even moving my leg or anything:

Sadly, I love the feel of the silicone. The grip is great, but the lint magnet drives me batty

I replaced for a few days my leather case with friend,
I want my leather case back ;]

prefer the leather one by far to the silicone case. the silicone one gets dirty very easily. Besides my leather casing looks more professional when used outdoors.

As I have said before I don't have a lint problem when using my silicone cases because the dry cleaners that I use clean the inside of my pockets and I wash my jeans inside out.

I agree that the silicone does catch lint but I really liked it a lot until I found something better. I didn't place my phone in my pocket but it would pick up lint and dust just from anywhere I would set it down. I would find myself wiping down all surfaces first before putting my phone down.

Ok, quick qustion Will. When you wash your jeans inside out, do you also pull the pockets out so they are inside out? This is not a joke question, but a serious one.

I like the silicone case except for the lint issue so if I can solve that problem I would go back to it as I still have it.

Yes I turn both inside out. Sorry I should have made it more clear. Also if like me you put your phone in your shirt pocket you can give your pocket a hover out, that also works for your jeans back pockets. Yes I know that seems stupid but it works for me. I also hover the mirrors on my car after washing so that when I drive the car the water in the mirror casings doesn't get blown out down along the side of the car.

I have had a red silicone case for the past year and I've never had a serious lint problem. The case also looks clean but I've got a few dings on mine from dropping it but I'm really satisfied with the case.

I didn't like the red leather case because the red on the silicone is much more better (imo).
