There won't be any shares for them to hold if the economy collapses. There's always a bigger picture.

Strange, seeing how the stock market has reached record numbers, as a result of Trump's win. Yea, yea, yea... You like your companies speaking out in favor of liberal crap. Still, economics has little to do with anyone who disagrees with that.

Build great products. Shut up. Stay out of it. This goes for all causes, liberal or conservative. As a corporation, there is no reason to alienate potential buyers on either side of the aisle.

Oh ok. This is funny. You say "as a CORPORATION, there is no reason to alienate potential buyers on either side of the aisle"... ??

Really. Hum. Gee is that why our NEW government is being filled with NOTHING BUT good, honest CORPORATE graduates?

Gee, I wonder if your as FIRED UP AT APPLE for commenting on the healthy equilibrium needed in our country versus that the real people in charge now are nearly ALL CORPORATE CROOKS who are so far removed from the reality of caring about the average you or me. Get it? Are YOU fired up that a former Chairman of EXXON is running our foreign policy or are you MORE worried about Apple expounding their support of fairness practices for common good for ALL of us?

I for one can be very frank in that Transgender people are not in my peer group or my social circles but it doesn't scare me that a company that sells products I like -- share their concerns in support of a very, very small minority within our society. That in itself is innovative and progressive.

I'm a stockholder in Apple. I'm not afraid that apparently your so worried that these opinions somehow discredit their products or threaten their "bottom line". Are you vested in Apple like I am? Apparently you are more comfortable that YOUR government TODAY filled its recent vacancies with the most corporate and ideological influences likely at any point in our history and, that my friend, is a more serious threat to our DEMOCRACY as a whole rather than that of Apple denouncing discrimination. Fascism is alive and well in the west. Are you capable of being able to see the forest through the trees? Are you? Or is this issue causing you sleepless nights?

My guess is that it really isn't Apple's public opinion that's bugging you -- although it makes for good cover I must admit -- but its the issue itself that's eating at you -- and it's that -- that prevents you from seeing your own HYPOCRISY.

I feel safe in saying that Apple will succeed or fail on products and products alone. I'm not worried that they've fallen off the tracks as some here are so convinced. The most critical fact is that Apple has exploded exponentially in terms of growth in a very, very short amount of time in comparison to some of their peers. Until you create a device or two that sells in the multiple of billions of units, we can talk. They are as imperfect as you and me. They will have great years, good years, horrible ones, and some that are terrible. No different under Steve Jobs leadership. Apple's obituary has been rewritten and re-reported so many times since the death of Steve Jobs that those numbers itself are incalculable. I guess you're in that camp, expecting their impending demise for a lack of innovation and too much attention to social causes..

What facts I know is that Apple put in another RECORD quarter and is nearing RECORD territory in terms of GLOBAL VALUE even while being one of many tech companies trying to be good stewards in terms of issues advocating for the rights of all, instead of a select few, and has had the balls to risk its reputation with people like you that would rather boycott Apple for it's opinions versus applauding them for taking a stand that makes even its most loyal customers uncomfortable at times.

Right? Pun intended here. :/

Especially because only 50% of American voted and less than 50% of that voted for Trump. Less than a quarter of Americans wanted Trump to be President.

Sorry but that's always a ******** argument the same as Brexit was for us in the UK. The system is there, it's the same for everyone and no-one ever complains when their person/party/topic of choice wins with that system. Those who have the right to vote but choose not to do not count in terms of results, that's their choice.

Apple is going to collapse if they don't take sides on transgender bathrooms? That's what we're discussing - not the economy. Cut the hyperbole and stay on subject.

People who believe in non common sense things are incapable of staying on subject. The reason is that the logic behind the things they believe in, is so easy to destroy, that the only option, other than admitting they were wrong, is to change the subject.

Apple, this isn't your place. Stop it. Do what you do and make your dang computers.

The CEO of Apple is gay which makes him part of the LGBT community. This is absolutely his place to step in. Additionally Apple has always had a long history of supporting equal rights across the board, way beyond LGBT. They are also sticking up for their 66,000+ employees in the US alone.

Apple needs to stick to making gadgets, not injecting itself into politics. This country will be just fine, ya'll will see.

The manufactured hysteria is getting really old.

So, I am going to take a guess that this issue doesn't affect you at all ?

The majority of Americans who voted did not want him and voted against him. But because of the outdated Electoral College system, he basically won on a technicality.

He won based on the system, not a technicality. America doesn't use a popular vote and with good reason. The people in 10 states alone don't get to decide what happens in all 50 states.

Fact check: Three million more individuals voted for Trump's opponent in the general election.

Fact check: he was democratically elected as per US laws.

It's funny to watch so-called "democrats" preaching about "democracy" and trying to break it at the same time.

I kinda miss those times when Apple was just making hardware and software, not preaching buttseksing rights. Probably this is why their products degenerated so much.

I have empathy for all mentally ill people. Empathy is not the same are distorting reality with dramatic play along.
Clearly you do not. You aren't even attempting to understand. Seriously...pick up a book and learn some things about the subject. Have you even ever talked to a transgendered person before? I doubt it.

Also, I know of at least one transgendered person on these forums as I have seen them mention it before. So before you go around calling people mentally ill who might be reading your words, you should think twice.

Apple is (rightly) on the correct side of history on this issue.

There were people like you when Martin Luther King, Jr. walked the earth. They were on the wrong side of history as you are now.

Sounds like you're comparing him to a racist. The right side of history won't be based on opinions, but facts. Facts like, men who want to be women, could never accomplish that, but can only imitate it. Wearing a dress doesn't grant a man the right to go into the restroom with other people's daughters. Your OPINION, doesn't change those facts. But you'll find a way to argue anyway...

In this case the people of even less states decided things......three to be exact.

Apple is doing a lot to get people on theirs side/camp. Which is good, of Tim Cook, if only we got a word about the long awaiting Apple hardware. Things that we are waiting for... for like up to four years already. No word from Apple. Of course.

@Tim Cook,

Be brave. Show some courage and let us see the future. Near future. Please. Then I will side with Apple, again, about political issues, like I have been doing for so many years already.

All President Trump is saying is let the states decide. But liberals prefer federal authority making all the decisions for the states. Well what California wants isn't necessarily what Kansas wants. There's a new sheriff in town, and he believes in states' rights .

Apple has always had liberal sensibilities, but under Jobs' tenure politics were under the radar.
Unfortunately Tim Cook is all politics all the time. It's getting tiresome.

Thanks to transgender rights, a student's legal name is considered educational protected information in California. You can be fired and prosecuted under FERPA for disclosing somebody's real name. This is the future.

This is very misleading. The point of this protection is for someone who has not fully completed their legal name and status change. Very frequently a transgender person will start using and identifying with a name and/or gender long before the legal process is started. Some states have dictate the requirements and the timing on this.

Why do I bring up other states if we are talking about California ? Here is an example. Someone who has been living as a women for a year in California. But on paper everything had their old name and gender. Even after they are granted a court order for legal name and gender change (which takes months BTW). They need to get their birth certificate update. If they were not born in California it could be a simple as a few week wait. However, some states won't allow it, some states will only change the name. Some require surgery. Some will take many many MANY months to amend it.

Where this protection comes in is for someone who is going through this process or has completed this process. It's very messed up to go running around telling people what is listed on someones birth certificate. Or that their drivers license does not match the name they are now going by. Like a teacher or instructor refusing to use someones new name.

Source: I am trans and currently going through the legal process right now. My birth state NJ makes it a giant pain in the ass to update my birth certificate.

What do you call a person that suffers from delusions and hallucinations?

Better yet, explain how it is not a delusion? Or you do you subscribe to the idea that all perception is reality?

What's tiresome is thinking that it's okay for some states to discriminate due to a lame "state's rights" argument. I guess using that argument states should have the right for seperate drinking fountains, seperate lunch counters, seperate swimming pools, and throw in some discrimination for anyone else they don't like too while we are at it...gays? Irish? Women? What other injustices of history should we revisit?

Popular vote solves that. The current system is weighted to give people in some states more of a voice than others. One person, one vote ... it's simple.

Do you think a democrat gets a voice in Texas or a republican gets a voice in California ? With the EC, they don't.

More little league arguments we're not discussing. We all know Apple is an equal opportunity employer with tons of minorities and LGBT people on their payroll. Now go do whatever it is the conservatives do when they're not having sex for the sake of procreation.
