I cant belive those recent posts saying like apple is no different about secrecy thn other posts and you all mostly mention hardware - which might be true that other companies are almost the same. But I meant mostly Software thats why I am here not on the thread for a future LED macbook pro. Are you all happy about how muh you know about leopard? And please dont say the other companies are the same.

And with Intls Roadmap. I dont take the dates as fix. Its just for seeing whats on the hoeizon and to expect in the future.

You all act like apple lawyers or people who want to lick Steve Jobs ass

Again, what do you want people to say here?

OK, if you're talking software, I would say again Apple isn't that different. Look at how long Adobe kept the lid on CS3, for example.

OS-wise, again, it would be interesting to get to see more of Leopard ahead of time, but the only remaining thing I want to see is the new Finder - but again, why would it matter to me to see it before I can use it?

I mean, it didn't do me any good to be able to see Vista's interface ahead of time; it wasn't relevant to me because I couldn't use it. It only becomes relevant to me really

Anyway, you are getting really belligerent, and it's becoming unpleasant to have a discussion with you given the insults you are hurling, so I'm personally going to bow out.

But as said before, if it bothers you so much, you really should just "escape" as you mentioned and not worry about what Apple is doing.

Thats what :apple: does to your head. I was once like that

Really, are you just trolling at this point? What else are you doing here at this point beyond just complaining that Apple doesn't show off all the stuff in Leopard like MS has done with Vista prior to launch?

Dear Birdie,

Here is a Good News ! Apple today released their WWDC Mac OS X State of the Union VIDEO and SLIDES for any online ADC member, i.e. anyone with an email account.

Now I can truly drool over Core Animation and such.
It contains a lot of new info about Leopard, hidden under NDA until yesterday!

Go to http://developer.apple.com/adconitunes/ !!

I recommend it to EVERYONE interested. It's so cool !
Stop trolling and feeding the troll. Watch it !

Yuhu, where can I try it out? Beta please:)

Pay $500 and become ADC Select member. It's not at all expensive if you really want to try. I think comparing it to religion is a bit too extreme. It's more like your girl/boyfriend, and you've spent more than $500 for him/her, right ?

And saying you wouldnt love to know about the features of the next big Mac OS release in front.

Apple announced specs and features of the iPhone and all anyone here seemed to do was complain about how it wasn't perfect or left out this feature or that feature or will cost too much.

I really don't care what features Leopard has. I will buy a Mac with it and use them. Knowing about it now won't change anything.

why are we geting mac pros first i think mac minis need the bigest update out off all the macs out on the market now anyway

why are we geting mac pros first i think mac minis need the bigest update out off all the macs out on the market now anyway

Given what the Mac mini is useful for and typically used for, I kind of wonder what kind of updates could be done to it that would really even make that much of a difference.

Good for you but I am not like that. I am on the neutral side and will never change, I always care about the best product and not from which company it is and whats best for me. It would be nice to know what to expect from leopard, ilife, iwork ... and compare with the other products. Those features they showed are nothing exciting

The same happened to vista as to the iphone and its the right way to do it and not hide it or whatever and hear the people and maybe change something than. I think its worse to not how it until its released and than not meeting expactations - big dissapointment

You've made your point already! So don't use Leopard, ok? If you don't even like what they have shown so far, I doubt you'll like whatever they haven't shown yet (i.e. new Finder, etc.). Just go and get Vista, which you already know about, and be done with it.

If iLife '07, iWork '07, 10.5 or a MBP get updated I'm going to be furious.

I'm getting a macbook pro, on like, Feb 10th, because I NEEEED it for projects/events. I'm DJing a dance on the 16th, and have a project due the 13th, this is outrageous if this happens. If the stuff came out like, a month or two later, fine, but 10 days after I get mine!?! That's another like, $250 I have to spend, on something I could have gotten free.

I really don't think, and I hope they won't update the MBP, because it was updated in October. It took them from Jan '06 - October '06 to do a major update. So, I'm hoping it's going to be a few more months. Anyway, I hope these are all just rumors, lol, what a bad time to come and visit the site.

:apple: cool.

lol I don't think you understand...

Look however you feel about Apple and their product cycle is up to you and I don't honestly care. But stop being such a drama queen about it. So you hate Apple, woot. You want a medal? I'm not a big fan of everything they do either, but I don't go rolling on the floor like a baby whining about it.

If those products actually became available within 14 days of you buying your MBP, you would almost certainly be able to get them somehow without paying for them (possibly even just doing a simple return in the 14 day period).

But either way, Leopard isn't coming out in February. If this rumor is even true, this event would be Apple finally unveiling the rest of Leopard. It still wouldn't be expected until a while later.

An article about whats going on when a new product from apple is released from the first rumors of a new product to the complaints and waitings and speculations of a new product (rev B). Very funny to read but I would say the truth.

Edit: http://www.misterbg.org/AppleProductCycle/

Umm, yes. Mildly funny, but really not anything anyone here doesn't know. I'm not sure why you think this guy is a genius for being able to state the obvious about how people react to upcoming Apple products, etc.

The funny thing of course is that MS desperately wishes people were so enthusiastic about their products; they've tried to build up hype for Vista to deadening silence. They tried to foster the "secrecy" factor by unveiling vague hints about UMPC ("Origami") to try and build buzz, but it of course backfired when people realized that "Origami" didn't even vaguely live up to the hype they tried to build for it.

I Agree Mini Needs A 2GHz C2D Model

why are we geting mac pros first i think mac minis need the bigest update out off all the macs out on the market now anyway
I agree with you. A 2GHz C2D mini - so it can sport a 4MB L2 cache - would be a huge advance in that model. Anything slower in the C2D would not be much of a difference from the current offerings. But Apple may be waiting for the next gen integrated graphics chipset from Intel before they make the C2D mini a reality.

On the Mac Pro side, we need 8 cores a lot on the seriously Pro front. And we've been waiting for Intel - not Apple - to ship the all but necessary supporting chipset, called Stoakley-Seaburg, before Apple could finally release a well behaved 8 Core Dual Clovertown Mac Pro.

So I see a lot of people here blaming Apple for delays that are really the natural process of waiting for Intel to ramp up their next generation of processors and support chipsets.

No one should blame anyone for these "delays" 'cause that's not what they are. There's just a lot of impatience with the normal process it takes to develop and then produce new computers. It ain't easy and it ain't as quick as a one hour TV episode. These things take time and I think the time they take is pretty damn fast as it is. So can we all just breathe, relax and stop worrying about why the next hardware and Leopard aren't done yet please? :)

They will all be in our possession soon enough - before Summer. Isn't that soon enough folks?

If this is the case, then awesome.

Any idea how I would get this?

Normally you would just go to the Apple Store or whatever and have them do a return or something. It's something you might check with them ahead of time on though, different managers sometimes have different policies about how they handle returns.

Although again in this case, I don't think you need to worry. Leopard is really not likely to come out in February, so it isn't going to be a specific issue in your case.

Damn it I hope they show it off in Feb. I don't care if they do ship it months later I really want to see this new UI....there better be a new UI....

I'd be really surprised if there wasn't finally a new Finder and new UI. One of the big "glaring holes" people have been noting in the developer seeds of Leopard is that the Finder included in the dev builds isn't changed at all (same version, etc.). That definitely seems to indicate something.

They better do, I remember reading Steve saying ms has no style and that he meant it in a big way but they sure showed it (oh and please I know you dont like AERO) now and mac computers are all beatifull in design but mac just doesnt look like its from apple (just looking from the style point)

He has to have an answer for ms.

Umm, a lot of people, including a lot of Windows users, aren't particularly enamored with Aero. It still needs a fair amount of work, frankly. Although that's the least of Vista's issues.

What do you mean "mac just doesn't look like its from apple"? I don't even understand what that means frankly.

Leopard. Macworld was bad for the mac fans if leopard is a dissapointment its bye bye, for making me wait so long to find out the features and than being a dissapointment and all those days looking for info about it, it feels like work.

Sorry, you're not making sense.

You've already said you are bothered by Apple's secrecy, so why still put up with it?

Also, Macworld wasn't "bad" for Mac fans. That is like saying the introduction of the iPod was "bad" for Mac fans; Apple branching out and getting their software and tech in front of more people is GOOD for the Mac. Especially with the iPhone, which has much more in common with the actual Mac than the iPod does. It's ultimately a good thing for the platform.

And for Mac fans, the iPhone is also quite possibly a preview of things to come (as others have pointed out, some of the stuff shown off with the iPhone was Leopard-based anyway, such as the Core Animation stuff).

Anyway, if it disappoints you so much, really, it's not going to change. I think it is pretty safe to say that you will be disappointed in Leopard no matter what, so I don't see the point in waiting around and continuing to complain about Apple.

-Zadillo

Like Apple didnt build mac OS (from the style point of view). All apple products have style, you agree? except mac OS - the finder, toolbars ...

I can't say I agree frankly; I think Mac OS X has style - certainly the Finder does need some work, but I don't think that means the underlying OS doesn't have style (any more than I would say Vista doesn't have style, in spite of the various UI flaws it has).

I really doubt Leopard will get an event for it's release.

Not saying this February event is it, but I'd be really surprised if Leopard didn't get an event.

It hasn't been demo'd yet to 90% of the Mac community (ie, the 10% that are neither developers nor geeky enough to listen in on the developer conference keynote just to get a glimpse of the next version of the OS).

I'm a little suspicious of this rumor as it appears to be putting too many demos into a single event. Leopard could really be it for an event.

maybe ad a better 3d card or a 2 duo since there people upgrading the processor anyway i would by a mac mini but with the windows games that ill be playing id have to go for a imac

I can't imagine what else they could fit into the Mac mini form factor in terms of a better GPU.

If I would buy lets say a crappy dell and windows I would know all upfront for the future.
Really? Show me where on Dell's website they have a release date for as-yet-unreleased desktops. Where is that page? Upcoming products to replace the existing ones. I assume it's there somewhere.

Can you show me?

You guys seem to be misreading his comment. If I bought a crappy Dell and Windows I would know all upfront too: I'd be getting a crappy computer with crappy support running a crappy OS if I buy it today, tomorrow, or next month!

Yes, we know just as much about Dell's schedule as about Apple's. We, and the rest of the world, just care a whole lot less about the minor variations in crapitude ahead of Dell.

Leopard will be released when it's ready, it's not ready yet and won't be till probably April. There's yet to be the common ramp up of developer seeds and nobody has even whispered the words "Gold Master" yet - it's still a fair way away.

I really doubt Leopard will get an event for it's release.

Yeah no rumors of GM yet, so I don't expect even an annoucement this soon. Since Apple was so quiet about Leopard at MWSF, I would not be surprised if the most highly anticipated OSX upgrade so far, has it's own special event to announce it (with possibility of other product annoucements along side...Steve's a big time showman, spin doctor; he'd love to do a special even to annouce Leopard!).
