I was told by a apple sales specialist on the phone today that if you reserved one, you have a three hour pick up window but I was encouraged to go at the beginning of my window (the 1/2 hr time listed on my reservation would be the beginning). I smell BS

At the Columbia Mall in Columbia, MD, people queue up hours before the mall opens in a parking garage, the opening of which gets very close to the Apple Store. In the past, I used to arrive early and avoid the security cars, then drive into the parking garage when I thought it was safe. Security has also dispersed the crowd the last year that I waited. That was a couple of years ago. I remember one year getting there around 3 am only to find a large line in the garage. I got in the line and waited. Finally, we were ushered into the mall, slowly, very slowly. I had wanted an AT&T iPad. Finally, after an additional long wait, I got to the head of the line. This is no lie, I heard someone yell out of the Apple store, "We just ran out of AT&T iPads!" I thought, "Damn it, I'm going to buy something." So I went into the store and bought a WiFI only iPad. I took it home and thought, "This isn't what I want." I returned it and ordered the iPad online. Lesson learned. I'm not standing in long lines for a hope.

I have only braved the lines one year for an iPhone in Towson Md. I was there at 4am and when the mail opened we all stood in line so it got to be lunch time so a lot of us sat on the floor. So this security guard which was 100 lbs lighter and a foot shorter told all of us we couldn't sit. So I stood up and said " Listen DEPUTY DOG if you want to try to make me stand after staying in line after all these hours, you better go get some damn help" So he walked away and every time he passed the store on his rounds he gave us dirty looks. I was so hoping he got the rest of Mayberrys best to help him remove us.

Anyone want to take the bet that some of the JB hopefuls on line are just going to turn around and sell it on eBay, CL, etc.

IOW, they don't want the phone for themselves, but to profit by it.

People are already selling the JB on eBay, for stupid money, almost 2x retail price.

At our apple store which is the largest apple store in our state, for the iPhone 6/6+ launch people start lining up at 10AM on Thursday, so by around 5PM is generally the cut of time to get a choice of phone.

Which Apple Store are you talking about? I sure don't want to go to that one..lol

The worse part....you can't change your pickup time!

I was trying to shift my pickup time to a later time because I have a work appointment. Nope...can't change the pickup time. So fine...I will just end my work appointment sooner.

A friend who works at an AT&T retail store in Austin TX gave me this info regarding their stock.

man, my local Apple store had a line of 350 people for the 6 release. that line started 10:0" AM on Thursday. I didn't think there were that many people here.

for the 6s Plus, I pre-ordered with T-Mo. I thought it was strange that it was delivered to me on Thursday. I open up the package to discover it was a 6 Plus. I called in to have them fix their screw-up. anyway, I still got my 6s Plus delivered to me the day of release. I'm seeing ETAs for the 7 Plus matte black 128 GB way out between Oct - Nov. ugh!

I might try camping out just to see what it's all about. I've got nothing better to do between Thursday and Friday.

Well this should thin the lines.

From Apple

"We couldn’t be happier with the initial response to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and we are looking forward to beginning sales through our retail stores and partners around the world.
Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in jet black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. Availability at partner locations for all finishes may vary and we recommend checking directly with them.
Customers can continue to order all models in all colors on apple.com. We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible."

Ok Apple just issued an official statement and breaking news saying there will be no iPhone 7 Plus available for walk-ins tomorrow morning,
"Apple has issued a statement advising that it has completely sold out of the Jet Black iPhone 7 and all versions of the iPhone 7 Plus, thanks to pre-orders. It adds that ‘limited quantities’ of other finishes of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will be available to walk-in customers tomorrow.
