If iOS 7 for iPad comes out in October that's not several months. But maybe Apple has been spending the past few weeks finalizing the iPad version so its ready to go at the same time. Because 6 and 7 are so visually different I can see Apple wanting them to drop at the same time for all iOS devices.

That was my point, too. The "several months" phrase was taken by the article. I don't think it would ever happen. Apple wants to switch to iOS 7 entirely. Besides, that would be a nightmare for developers and would make apple look really bad.

I wonder If Apple will change the icons in OS X Mavericks? Now that iOS7 is coming, the UI will be very inconsistent.

Kinda wish they'd get more people on the development teams just so that Mac OS X isn't always placed on the back burner when it comes to iOS. I know iOS & Mac OS X share a lot of code, but there are so many things that can only be done on Mac OS X.

Until Apple adds the important producer apps on the iPad (Xcode, iBooks Author, etc.) and a few other things (multiuser support), I'm tired of iOS getting all the glory. I know iOS devices sell better, but maybe that's because Apple somewhat neglects everything else.

I don't see XCode running on an iPad.

I like late October because after 10th september they can focus real intense for Maveriks until every aspect is done perfectly and remove as many bugs as they can, maybe no they move some of the iOS workers to mavericks like they did for iOS from MACOS

Maybe they'll hold another event late Oct to unveil the new iPads alongside new Macs including the Mac Pro and MBP with Mavericks pre-loaded.

I think 10.9 will be good only after few updates (like a Mountain Lion)
So it is good to make update after release of 10.9.1, for good perfomance.

Glad to hear it. They need the time, glad they're not going to rush it out earlier. 10.9 has the potential to finally be an update to really get excited about, they just need to work enough of the bugs out before release.

I suspect this will also allow them to have some of the GUI guys who have been on iOS7 switch over and clean up apps like notes, calendar, reminders, contacts, etc. And dare I say it, I'd be fine with them tweaking some of the app icons and making them a bit more like the iOS7 versions.

Apple is becoming very good at vaporware - The new Mac Pro, OS X 10.9, iOS 7 for iPad... all coming after very long delays.

Wow, you sure are clueless about software development. Both 10.9 and iOS7 are coming right when Apple announced they would, no delays at all. Both of those need time in beta for developers to test and update their apps, there's ALWAYS a period of months between when betas are released to testers and final release.

The mac pro is a special case, getting the model updated at all has taken an incredibly long time. But the announcement happened exactly because it had been so long, and it's still going to come by the end of the year. They couldn't release it any sooner just because intel hadn't released any of the next generation chips yet. Those chips still aren't out. It looks like they will probably be announced next week, maybe immediate release, maybe not.

Will a new MacBook Pro w/ Retina be announced this Tuesday's WWDC? URGENT.

I wouldn't bet on it, no. Logically, it doesn't make sense that Apple would announce new Mac hardware ahead of Mavericks. But this is Apple, so anything could happen just like a roulette ball landing on green is possible too.

Look up "vaporware" and "delays" -- none of the things you have mentioned qualify by any stretch.

OS X? What's that?

The best OS in the world. Everybody talks iOS or Android, but if you like computers and not just some nice toy, then OS X is the best OS. Using OS X more than iOS is refreshing for me, since I sold my iPad. Everything just really works and Mavericks is a great upgrade.

OK, maybe I'm not being very fair, but nonetheless it seems like there has been a very long gap between significant Apple product/software releases.

No delays at all - what are you talking about? Everything that is coming is coming exactly at the time Apple said it would and in concert with the rumors we've been hearing for months:

- new iPhones / IOS7 on 10 September
- new Mac hardware (and iPads?) / OS X 10.9 "this fall" - now expected late October; i.s., early in the fall, and entirely consistent with the last two release cycles
- new Mac Pro - late 2013

all exactly as stated and predicted.

I wouldn't bet on any significant UI changes between now and release. If Apple plan to bring Mavericks more in line with the looks of iOS 7, then this is something that they can dedicate to next years release.

One can understand this better by the fact that Game Centre has been left untouched, while the likes of Notes have had a pretty straightforward graphics swap. Afterall, how do you de-Forstallise something like Game Centre whilst providing a suitable stop-gap until OS 10.10? The chances are that the designers focused on the apps that are used more commonly.

Mavericks? Mavericks...?
What next?
Pinto? (exploding care)
Mustang?
Horses??? They're prey animals. Bleh.

What a let down after the big cats.

Apple should have gone with Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, Red Wolf, Arctic Wolf...

You guys on ios can 'enjoy' your My Little Pony inspired icons. I hope this crap never comes to OSX, at the very least I can change icons though.

September is 'considered' fall to most people, but it's technically still summer until the 22nd.

By 'most people' you mean 'me'?

I'm not suggesting 'many' don't... but I suspect as least as many still see it as summer.
