My Bet is Cloud based itunes.

but

It works like mobile me, so you can make sure all your computers have the same music if they are all signed into the same itunes account. I have my music at work and home and I constantly have to move music between them to keep them the same... this would fix that.

Itunes now included in mobile me... makes perfect sense.

If it works like MobileMe it's going to suck eggs.

I just hope it's not another one of those lame contests to celebrate how many billions of downloads iTunes has produced. It's easier to win the lottery than to win those lame iTunes contests. :p

*yawn*

Artificial suspense to make you feel like a dork if you speculate about it for hours and then never buy anything.

It's like the Christmas present you didn't really want, but would feel bad about rejecting...

Ability to read downloaded novels and PDFs etc via iTunes? It all sounds wrong lol, reading from iTunes, should be called something else. The ability to read purchases on your desktop or laptop is one of the killer features of Kindle and Nook etc that they are not limited to the portable devices. Should be ability to do the same with book purchases from Apple for anyone with iTunes to be able to read them etc.

An iBooks app with access to you iTunes iBooks content and other ebook formats would be better. Something like Stanza but much better.

What's goign to happen is Apple is going to say, 'Just kidding, it's another announcement regarding Macs!' and release a new line of computers.

More likely it's going to be something to do with Apple TV and Cloud and iTunes :/

This is the best guess yet.

Maybe it's all content available globally. That would be big news because it would mean that they got the record labels to agree to global distribution of their content. As it stands right now, a lot of iTunes content is country-specific.

I can't see that happening. Many acts still have deals with different labels in different territories for a whole host of reasons. Similarly when labels license content to specialist re-issue labels these too are done on a territorial basis - e.g the US rights go to Shout Factory whilst the UK ones are handled by Ace.

My guess is cloud based iTunes for Music, TV, Movies, Books plus free MobileMe based on your iTunes account. This is going to be the beginning of Apple cloud based computing. Expect more Lion integration to that.

Remember this strange iTunes account entry field for MobileMe in iOS 4.2... there you go!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Apple only does this kinda stuff when what they're introducing is revolutionary! So excited!

The store updates on Tuesday, so logically, it has to do with the store itself.

- 90 second previews: not really worth making a fuss about.
- streaming music from the store: maybe
- subscription service similar to Zune; ohpleaseohplease

I'm surprised no one has guessed the Mac App Store.

My guess would be that, and iOS 4.2.

I think anything else would require a more typical Apple press conference/event. Mac App Store and iOS 4.2 are both something they've already shown off, but not made available. Both were also promised this month.

So this announcement is big enough to take Apple's homepage up, but not big enough to warrant a keynote...

90 Second Song Previews is definitely happening... but what else?

Well they could give us the whole song to preview, require that it can only be played through iTunes, then if we want to play it on our iPods, iPads and iPhone then we would have the choice to buy it. That would be great, although possibly insane to think they would do this.

I would go see when the news is released, but since the alarm clock function in the OS is not working correctly, I'd be either an hour early or later.

iTunes. That's key. Not the Mac App Store.
