Blah blah blah...good for you if ATT has awesome reliable 3G coverage in your area. Keep them.

The whole point of this exclusivity bullsh*t is that it doesn't allow people a choice. ATT coverage where I live is utter crap. I will not be paying a company $90 a month for a service I cannot enjoy to its fullest--it's money down a drain.

I could care less over this niche feature if I can't keep a call going in the first place!

Why wont AT&T come out with a program to pay a portion of a Verizon cancellation fee? This would be a huge blow to Verizon, all these people jumping ship for a cheaper then before I-phone. They could roll the cost in the phone bill like an extra $10 a month for those that wish to do it.

Actually, if you call AT&T Customer Service and tell them you're thinking about switching to an iPhone, they used to bend over backwards to get you. I believe they can offer up to $125 in AT&T credit to put towards your whatever. Why? Because the average iPhone user pays much more than your average cell phone user. It's in their best interest to cough up an initial $125 for two years of ~$100/month...

They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but why get a CDMA phone, as CDMA is going away, and cannot be used much outside the USA... LTE is getting close to the "holy grail"...

God this debate is silly. For most people, the fact that they can use it outside the US is moot, because most people don't travel outside the US that frequently. Look at your market. This is a consumer product that is finally moving into the business segment. Blackberry, whom for the most part uses both gms/cdma radios understand that, because they are business first phones.

The next iphone will be a cdma/gsm hybrid like Blackberry. Just wait.

Heh, I just realized this, but the latest Verizon commercial has Santa and his reindeers, and one of the reindeer can't go out delivering toys because he has AT&T and supposedly can't get coverage. But since Santa delivers toys all over the world, Santa's and the other reindeers' CDMA Verizon phones going to be useless for a good portion of the trip, and the one reindeer with AT&T will be able to make calls in pretty much every country they're in. Verizon fail

I guess your parents never told you. Sorry to break it to ya kid, but Santa Claus does not exist.

Wow, you're thinking way too much about this. :p

Quote from 2nd ad....

Why oh why does Apple continue to use statements like this that just reinforce the worst stereotypes about users of Apple products?

SUSHI!!!!! Geez, how wimpy is that!!!

"Hey, wanna grab a couple skinny latte's and head over to John and Garry's house for bad movie night?"
:D

Yes, and Verizon is all too happy to give you a 3G Data card for your PC for another $30 a month!

No thanks.

Did I ever say that you should do that? My point is simply that a lot of business users do (on either network, or even a different network from their phone), but a lot of business users also have that card subsidized by their employer.

Again, the only point I'm making is that there are alternative solutions that work well for others. The frustration is with people who think the announcement of this feature difference is somehow going to kill Verizon's strong business alliances, or mean that the iPhone would somehow be useless on Verizon's network. It's pure foolishness.

Very possible. EDGE is capable of simultaneous voice/data connections. AT&T chose to limit its EDGE implementation in the US. (reference to Class A device snipped)

GPRS Class A device = two radios, one for voice, one for data. No such consumer device exists, as far as I know.

Or... a GSM network can implement Dual Transfer Mode (DTM). Ditto on lack of devices, unless someone else knows of any.

I guess your parents never told you. Sorry to break it to ya kid, but Santa Claus does not exist.

I'm Jewish, Hannukah Harry brings us our presents :D

It's the idea though. If an imaginary fat man is going to fly imaginary flying deer around the world delivering presents, wouldn't he want a phone that works all over the world? ;)

No one is arguing that. Apple wanted a single provider (AT&T just happened to say 'yes' when Verizon said 'no'). Apple has the power to open it up....at the risk of lower subsidies.

Good lord I wish they would both just shut up. ATT and VZW seem like these two bullies in a pissing contest, and it's really getting irritating to sign on to Mac News sites and see the latest escalation in their little arms race abt who the better provider is.

+1: After reading this mudsling fest I will not be switching to either AT&T or Verizon. My T-mobile account is looking more and more awesome:cool:.

Note: Don't argue with an ***** idiot, because from the distance it will be hard to tell who of the two is the idiot. (read somewhere else and quoted "freeform") :D

Verizon Is Far Better Then At&t Any Day,place Or Time !!!

Tell you what I gave up 3 original iphones with AT&T and I will never go back to such a crappy service. The maps are true and correct. I drive for a living and never in all the time I have had cell phone service that dropped more calls then ever before. In a 500 mile trip on average from PA to CT on AT&T I lost calls about 8-10 times a night and had no service fro miles along the I-84 highway in New York beginning Mile marker 55 or so. With Verizon I lose maybe 1 or 2 calls a night and that only because of the D.O.T scales knocking off service... So no matter what AT&T sucks and that just a fact and not a commercial. I feel sorry for you Apple you just turned a lot of would have been customers against.. You should have stayed out of it and left the truth be told.. Now you going to be looked at like a company that just about money from AT&T..What a shame. Now I want to get rid of my Blackbook and go back to PC any takers ??? Apple you suck for that dirty move against a scum run company..... Mike B (Verizon Customer)

I guess if you live in an imaginary world with pink unicorns and santa.

NYC has 30% drop calls on AT&T. Nuf said.

Really? My personal rate in a suburb outside Denver, CO is much higher than that. It's so high that I get surprised when another iPhone toting friend and I actually get connected. I can't count the number of times I get VMs with no missed call. I used to live in Charleston, SC and had similar experiences with ATT. That surprised me since prior to the iPhone I had Suncom and had zero problems. Lets face it. Either ATTs network sucks or the iPhone radio sucks or both. Ignoring the problems will not make them go away.

Good ads.

However, they did mess up in the 2nd ad. The narrator explained about going to the movies, and showed a guy on the phone. Then the narrator says that we can tell "HER" what time? Kinda sloppy on Apple's part imo.

I <3 my iPhone though, so w/e

He sounds just a tad... snooty, but I like them :)

"Can your phone do that?"

Yes, because I too have an iPhone 3GS.

I use voice and data all the time, I had no idea that that wasn't possible on the other networks.

Lat time I checked, AT&T did not have phone sales outside of the US, which is what Verizon is going after.

You are reading into this way too much

I can access the internet while on a call? WoOah! Maybe if my calls didn't drop so often I'd be able to experience this great feature (this is with full bars, mind you).

Then you don't have to! Nobody is forcing you to get the iPhone. If you want the iPhone, go with AT&T. I don't see the big deal in this. If coverage stinks with AT&T where you live, then don't get the iPhone. Simple as that.

I guess the next question will be from Verizon: "Ever want to make a phone call, and not have your call drop? Can your phone on AT&T do that?"

I dislike AT&T as a company, but I have to say I've never experienced the epidemic call dropping that everyone seems to be claiming. Is the FUD just thick and steamy or am I just one lucky bugger?

Defending AT&T just to defend the iPhone.

you guys sure know how to go low. :p

Defending either AT&T or Verizon is like choosing who to vote for in politics. Both candidates suck rocks, but you end up voting for the one you feel sucks less regarding your own needs and desires.

I despise all carriers. But I love my iPhone (with gripes).

Has anyone noticed that when ATT speaks up, everyone here says to ****, but when Apple says something, everyone hear agrees?

When I looked at these comments, I expected a whole different reaction, but I guess that doesn't matter.
