Just heard work will be buying us an iPad each, not that's timing. (Here's hoping they don't rush out the door and buy an iPad 4 today. While I don't want to seem ungrateful..............)

That's great! Make sure they wait for the iPad 5 and don't make a stupid financial mistake just by trying to save a few bucks by buying the iPad 4.

And when you get it, let us know! :D

It's 2013 and they still have to take down their entire store for hours before the event?

I always think that but I guess there's an awful lot of work to get done not just the aesthetics but all the background stuff too.

I'll be at work! With IE 8 so it's gonna be hard..... Websites aren't that compatible lol.

However, I hope the new iPad is awesome enough for me to upgrade from my iPad 2.

Same deal.... And low data on iPhone and iPad so no way could I stream it to them eithor.

If you start the live stream. But want to start watching about 2h after the start of the event. Are u usually able to rewind the live stream to do that then? Or do you haVe to wait for the event video to be released on the apple homepage?

It's not a live stream then ;)

I can't seem to find the event on my Apple TV in Europe (Netherlands), just iTunes Festival. Apple TV 2 with software 5.3. Anyone gotta clue?

One thing I like about Cook's keynotes is we don't get a parade of boring app demos. And the ones they do are kept pretty short. I would imagine today though they'll have one demo showing off 64-bit on iPad. Hopefully that's the only 3rd party demo.

Anki Fly to go with the Anki Drive that was demoed at WWDC. Both with new Disney themed vehicles to go with Planes and Cars.

Just wondering if its possible to pause the live stream on Apple TV once its started, and then start watching again?

Our company lets us upgrade from the standard PC laptop to a higher-end PC (ie X1 Carbon) or MacBook Pro Retina. We just pay the difference. After 3 years, we pay another $100 and we can own it.

Apple give almost no time for people to prepare, so I have to call in sick 5min after arriving at work?

I've wondered about this as well. At the very least, it does create suspense and buzz.

It may be as simple as to not allow anyone to buy anything the day of the event to avoid upset customers.

I follow Apple Keynotes in my iPhone Podcasts and go back and watch old keynotes a few times a week when bored. I still get excited watching them even though the tech is now old.

You might want to get involved with some hobbies.

Intel have announced major delays with Broadwell. Chip production likely won't start until March. It could be 2015 before you see it in a new model.

I'm typing this on a 2008 17" MBP and it's still fine. If I didn't work with HD and 4K video on a daily basis, I'd probably keep this one for another 2-3 years. Keeping old hardware is better for the environment and your bank balance.

Thanks for your thoughts. I have a 2009 Mac Pro right now and I would be happy to keep it if my current situation didn't require lots of portability. I think you're right, haswell coincides with needing a new machine. Decision made.

Then again if there will be preorders, they may be available when the store returns today. Anything is possible.
