$50 a month for Australian customers. Na mate, get f*****

Your Apple News+ services here have pretty much been abandoned since launch. There's no Audio versions like the US, heck, you couldn't even give us Crosswords in iOS 17. Your special coverage pages are never updated for anything that's actually happening in Australia.

As for Apple TV+, $13 a month for what? A tiny catalogue? We can get far better steaming services here with thousands of shows in the library for couple bucks more.

You also don't allow Australians to have the Sport tab on Apple TV.

Apple, you need to start giving back to your customers. We pay a premium price for a premium experience. But the last few years you have produced some of the buggiest amateur software I've ever used.

Not good enough!

I already have One Premier and am okay with the pricing (how in the world is News+ 12.99?!) but I sure wish that they would bump up the 2TB shared iCloud with the increase.

Damn that means Premier will cost me $40.61 a month w/ tax in Iowa.

If I were to just subscribe to individual services I use in TV+, 2 TB iCloud+, and Apple Music family it'd be $39.56 w/ tax.

If I were to downgrade to One Family and add the 2TB iCloud it'd be $38.46 w/ tax.

😫

The sad part is eventually this will be 99 a month. It’s all about profit and growth and there are only 3 ways to do that. Increase volume. Increase prices. Cut costs. And the cycle is endless because sustaining-even if it’s profitable-is not acceptable. Only growth.

Same boat here. Subtracting the services I don't care about leaves me at basically the same price.

You could see the TV+ price increase coming a mile away. Apple TV+ was cheap when announced, but they have quickly built up a nice little library of original content.

However, TV+ could desperately use a back catalogue. They have been offering some third party movies on a monthly basis, but these just aren’t enough. Apple should really buy a studio.

Speaking of which, could part of Apple’s announcement be something about Apple TV+? There have been rumors that Disney may make a deal for Apple to offer Disney content on TV+. If this were to come to pass this year, the price increase would make A TON of sense. We’ll see (I wouldn’t bet on it).

Apple today announced that it is increasing the prices of some of its subscription-based services, including Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple News+, for new and existing subscribers in the U.S. and many other countries around the world.

The price changes in the U.S. are as follows:
  • Apple TV+: $6.99 per month → $9.99 per month
  • Apple Arcade: $4.99 per month → $6.99 per month
  • Apple News+: $9.99 per month → $12.99 per month
For those who subscribe to Apple TV+ on an annual basis, the price has increased from $69 per year to $99 per year accordingly.

Prices for the Apple One bundles that include these services are also increasing as a result:
  • Individual: $16.95 per month → $19.95 per month
  • Family: $22.95 per month → $25.95 per month
  • Premier: $32.95 per month → $37.95 per month
The price increases take effect immediately for new subscribers, and in 30 days from today for existing subscribers, on their next renewal date after that grace period. Apple should send out emails to existing subscribers notifying them about the changes over time, as it did following price increases to some services last year.

In the U.S., these are the first-ever price increases for Apple Arcade and Apple News+ since the services launched in November 2019, while Apple TV+ had its first price increase from $4.99 per month to $6.99 per month in October 2022.

In a statement shared with MacRumors, Apple said it is "focused on delivering the best experiences possible for our customers by consistently adding high-quality entertainment, content, and innovative features to our services."

There are no price increases for Apple Music and Apple Fitness+ today.

It’s not really worth it anymore.

This is getting crazy. I have Premier mostly for the family data backup. I use News, and occasionally Apple TV+... but I am having a hard time justifying all these price increases.
Just moved my Netflix down to the cheap Ad tier, and probably will cancel it if I find the ads too bothersome.

At this point, I feel like we are seeing that the entire subscription model is a failure.

I might as well buy a NAS and backup my photos there, and with the cost of all these streaming services, it makes more sense to get an old school Cable subscription .

Pretty substantial increases

I think I should do a check on all my subscription services including Non Apple and start slashing a bit

It made sense during Covid but now I’m actually playing games more than watching tv

I think I’ll start rotating them every 3-4 months or so
For a while we only have ATV+ because I can always seem to find a free promo when it expires, and D+ because it is $10 with VZW for Trio no ads. If any of that ever changes, they are slashed too.

Remember when everyone was supporting the clowns on strikes? Well, now, who's out there marching now?
I’m not upset at the regular workers who weren’t being paid fairly for their work. I’m annoyed at the incessant greed of their bosses/the executives who can’t just pay them more and still make hundreds of millions in profit.

like a drug, get you hooked and then jack prices up because they know you'll complain but still pay.
Not with the amount and frequency of the increase. I can understand increases but the last five years are totally unacceptable. Most everything made its way to the chopping block

The iCloud offerings on Apple One below Premier level is atrocious for 2023. It should be Individual: 500GB, Family: 2TB, and Premier: 4TB+.

Hook everyone in with low prices then raise them every year. Seems to be the strategy across the board for any subscription service. Now is the time for cable/satellite companies to undercut them and/or partner with them if they want to see a resurgence. People are getting fed up.
I wouldn’t mind a price hike if this is the FINAL one.

However, they are likely to increase the prices next year and the year after as well.

Do people get that much value out of Apple News? The price already seemed high. I never use that app.

Subjective yes, but very debatable here. Compared to other streamers, the content library is pretty small.
Sure? But it’s original and mostly high quality. Apple has out-HBOed HBO, IMO. You aren’t paying for quantity, per se, but quality. But I still think they could use some sort of back catalogue to help beef up their offerings.

So when the prices went up last year before the strikes, what was that?
THIS is directly because of the writers and actors strike. They will be getting MUCH more compensation so we get to pay for it.

We as in you. I’m not paying a penny for any services anymore. Thankfully the price of a 20TB drive isn’t that expensive anymore.
