Yes and on the website most applications are shown in full screen mode and doesn't show the notch either. At least it seems like the notch won't clip into the window itself, which I guess is is a good thing.
I worry how it’ll look on older applications and games (that won’t get updated). Will we end up with full screen apps in the notch area? Or will macOS register that as unusable space?

Why is it always two steps forward, one step back with these dummies
Just curious, what do you consider the step back?
why do we need proprietary chargers. I am not a fan of the new ports, especially since they removed one usb-c. But could live with those.

but getting back to the magsafe is stupid. Even now that EU pushes towards standards.
Can still charge with USB-c, not sure what the problem the EU would have with MagSafe if it is not required.

I am very happy to see the return to MagSafe, as it should have never have been removed with the horrible 2016 MBP.

Good job, Apple!

So you'd have an HDMI cable with you right? - Zip all difference from carrying a USB-C to full size HDMI - they are about £$8. Never understood all this rubbish about dongles. You just use the right cable.... that you'd still need to carry.
Nope. Places these days have the hdmi cables attached to the displays. And getting an hdmi cable is way easier in the middle of nowhere than a conversion dongle

I can't believe they put a notch on a laptop. It's the most atrocious design choice I've seen in a very long time. I would rather LOSE that tiny part of the screen, literally black it out and put the menu bar below the notch than have to look at that all day. I always thought Apple made sound design choices even when others complained (Magic Mouse 2 charging port, etc), but this is the first time I'm amazed and stunned at their horrible choice.
Just buy some electrical tape, and you’ll have your bezel back!

You don’t even need a proprietary charger. 1) you can charge via usb c, 2) you can use the usb c to MagSafe charger with any brick that will support the charging rate.

Wow, an amazing thing just happened: I read a comment on MR and it changed my mind.

I still have this nagging feeling that if they didn't plan to put that stupid SD card slot in they'd have added another TB port even if it shared bandwidth with another, but you've made me feel generally better about the whole situation...

Not that any of this would have reduced my overall enthusiasm for this beast. I can't expect something custom built to my specifications. I haven't been this excited by a new machine in a very long time!

I love having an SD card slot back. I'm a pilot and our aircraft uses SD cards to update the navigation database ever 28 days. It's nice when traveling to not have to carry a dongle to keep the avionics updated.

Also, even if you never use SD... hopefully the return of SD means that we'll see an update of those SD storage cards designed to fit flush into the SD slot of the pre-2016 MacBooks so you can leave them in semi-permanently and use them for storage expansion. Ideal for offloading documentation, media libraries etc. so they don't take up space on your expensive superfast Apple SSD.

DAMN BOI HE THICKKKK

EDIT: Apparently the new MBP are only so slightly thicker
Yeah, I guess when you don’t have to engineer for Intel’s chips (including making space for BOTH Intel’s integrated graphics AND a separate discrete chip) you have enough space left over to model in some feet! :)

Back to the past:
1. HDMI - outdated technology
2. SD card - outdated technology
3. MagSafe - bulky, ugly and no future perspective

Nowadays Pro means data transfer speed for big data volume is most important.

John Ivy, please come back.

I'm really glad they abandoned the "as thin as possible" mentality and just gave us the features we want. You can still make a laptop look good, be portable, and give you good options.

Good riddance Jony Ive.

Nice price.

So, most of Jonny Ive's design choices have been removed. No more form over function or fashion accessory designs.

Good to see HDMI port, SD Card, F-Keys and MagSafe connector back once more!

So, i have a question despite the fact that people hate notch, was done on purpose so the true ”apple” ecosystem would take place? I mean i noticed that they mentioned that it can run close to 10,000 apps in use in the ipad and iphone?
