The improvements are not outwardly dramatic but are quite notable going from a iphone 12 pro max to the 13 pro max. The is a very notable improvement in battery life. The wireless charger built into my car now actually works. The camera improvements are nice. The phone is noticeably more useable .

1st cellphone was Motorola Flip - still love them to this day.
2nd was an HTC Evo - Complete POS
3rd was the OnePlusOne - Still have it... still love it.
Then came a smattering of MotoG phones, that were just that. Phones - nothing to get excited about except the $150 price.
As a Mac user since the Apple 100 Powerbook was released ($2500 back in the day) and a fairly happy user of the products, the iPhone 13Pro is my first phone from Apple, and I'm glad I waited until now! I have have been closely associated with iPhones in one way or another since they were first released, but never got excited or saw the need (for me) until the 13Pro. As a minimalist filmmaker/photographer this fits perfectly in my day to day kit. Yes, I still have DSLR and Mirrorless kits when it's called for, but it's is such a joy to be able to capture what I need with the 13Pro and my DJI Osmo Pocket devices, and keeping a low profile while doing so.

Get yourself an Apple Watch and experience truely seamless integration across devices. That's where the real benefits come to life. It's not about having discrete devices, but a network of devices that all work together to make your life easier.

The first time that you drive with Apple Maps navigation and your watch is tapping you on the wrist as your next turn approaches, then you'll finally get it.

Anything above ~1000 makes no statistical difference no matter the size of the population (look up the math, it’s solid) - so 5000 is actually way overdoing it 🤷🏽‍♂️🤓
You are right that the size of the overall population is irrelevant. But there's no magic universal minimal number of samples required for statistical significant.

The vast majority of the iPhone user base does not follow iPhone upgrades from year to year. They just get a new iPhone when theirs doesn’t work anymore. Surveys like this two weeks after an iPhone launches are useless, especially ones with such suspect criteria as someone else mentioned.

If I ordered an iPhone 13 today it wouldn’t be here until November. And that’s not because there aren’t any to ship, it’s because they can’t make them fast enough now that their initial supply is gone. Just like every year.
How do you know that, I think a lot of them get new ones when their carrier plan offers them a sweet deal on an upgrade, or they are win the Apple plan and they get a new one every year. AT&T is constantly bombarding me with incentives to upgrade, but I just buy it directly from apple.

I'm on the iPhone Upgrade Program so I replace every year regardless of how much or how little they do.

And I consider the "S" to be a silly nomenclature (I believe they added "S" to the 3GS to note it had faster 3G speeds) so I prefer they just increment the number each year regardless of feature set additions. Though if they had not burned "C" with the 5C, they could replace "S" with "C" for "Camera" since that is the one thing that does see significant year-on-year updates.

As for Apple Watch, I go Stainless Steel so I like to wait at least 3-4 generations (S0 to S4 and S4 to S8) to maximize the value.
Uhh the 4s, 5s, and 6s all say, "hi!"

I hope not, I don't want USB-C on the iPhone, it's to fragile and crazy expensive to repair.
I was just kidding. I’m really uncertain what they will do with the lightening connector. They remove it from the iPads but keep it on the iPhones. It will be somewhat interesting to see if they change.

I upgraded from the 12 Pro Max and I can tell you I was absolutely going to return it if I found it unworthy to upgrade to. Without going into details I can tell you that my 12 Pro Max is long gone now. The 13 is everything I wanted it to be and more.

my new iPhone 13 mini is a dream come true. Camera is incredible, battery life is finally very good, stunning performance, the screen is bright even under the sun. It is the evolution of a almost perfect phone. Couldn’t be happier.

SellCell, never heard of them. If you have a newer iPhone, of course it is less likely to think it i worth getting. Duh!

Yeah, I thought that I had messed up the USB-C on my iPad Pro. It is out of warranty and the repair was going to be $499. I had a coworker that broke off the lightning connector on her iPhone, I just took a pick and pulled out the broken piece of connector and all was good.

Interesting to see 'lack of touch ID' as the number one reason. I know there is a ton of love on the forum for it. But I personally, I don't see this is a must have feature. Face ID works pretty well. Also given they've added it in the power button for the iPad, they could also add it here no?

I can confidently state that they don’t know until they’ve used iPhone 13 Pro for a week. The display is awesome.
But what iPhone Pro display is not awesome?
I like the size increase that came with the 12 Pro Max but honestly hate the notch and will hold off on updating until they get rid of it.

Ironically i'm more tempted by the Apple Watch 7 but honestly im perfectly fine with my model 5 version.

So iPhone 13 Pro Max user here (upgraded from 12 PM) . I too was underwhelmed UNTIL I actually got the darn thing. It's AMAZING ( and reviews point the same way) Can't knock it til you try it. Not having to charge my phone ALL DAY...macro photos. ... C'mon son.

A random iphone 13 review (<--)

I read the battery life and macro photo stuff and as an IUP user I wanted it. My 12 ProMax just seemed to not last as long. The Macro and other camera improvements was important to me also. And the 1 TB memory was a big deal I had hoped for it on my 12 ProMax so having those all available was a yes to do the upgrade one more time. We shall see with the 14 next year

I think the general agreement with the iPhone mini is that people want a mini pro. Small screen with the same specs as the max.
Absolutely. I have an 11 Pro. If there was a 12 or 13 Pro Mini, I would have bought it.

I’ll buy a 14 Pro Mini if Apple makes it. Add in USB-C and I’ll be over the moon.

Coming from an iPhone 11 I am pleased with my 13 Pro. But, this survey simply reflects reality: there isn’t much to get excited about these days. iPhones are amazing and it wound be foolish to expect some knock-your-socks-off new features every 12 months.
Also true but I wanted the 1TB last year so it was there, and macro camera for me was a need, other camera improvements and the battery were actually for me important but yes smartphones are plateauing for sure

Only bought the 13 Pro Max because of the 120Hz Promotion Display (I’ve been waiting years for it) - if it didn’t have it I’d be sticking with the 12 Pro Max

For me the iPhone 13 Pro is a very exciting upgrade and that is coming from iPhone 11 Pro Max. The new design, 5g, Promotion screen, much improved camera and battery and many others. If someone is on iPhone 12/Pro I could see 13/Pro to be a less exciting purchase, but still there are many more improvements than what Apple offered on Watch.

Watch on the other hand is a total joke and I agree with the survey. I still have Series 4 and honestly, I can't find a single reason to upgrade. I am not complaining as it saves me $800 in my pocket (I always go with Stainless Steel) and I am perfectly fine with the performance etc of my watch so the longer I get to keep it, the better I will feel about it.
