So you just renamed the Other Workout yes ? Which means there is no actual HIIT type of training (where you can set intervals etc) ?

Yeah it's just a renaming. After renaming, it gets saved as a separate entry in the workout app. But it's still "Other". It just has a new name. There are no intervals or anything like that.

Am I the only one who dislikes the fact that there is no Glance now? This is annoying to me because I used to be able to read top news on CNN, see the latest posts on Instagram, see Top Trending on Twitter, see the latest scores on OneFootball but now it's all gone.

The Dock isn't as useful, cos it displays the actuall app screen, which is not suitable for glancing information. For example, now OneFootball displays the 'EURO 2016 2 matches' instead of the latest scores.

What is more, I have my bank app installed on my watch, whenever I open it, it stays there on Desktop under 'Recent' showing how much money I have on my account without being able to remove it.

Plus, I'm in New Zealand and there's no emergency contact feature when you hold the side button. It will only display power off button and my medical ID. Can someone else, perhaps non-US residents, confirm that this is also the case for you?

And we can't force close app now, right?

Thank you :D
Developers just need to update their apps to reflect this change. They'll become glanceable.

So I think watchOS and the new watch will be released on September 23rd. I was customizing this face and saw the default date.

Does anyone know if it's planned for Apple Watch to sync workouts, calories, etc that are synced with Apple Health but NOT recorded with the watch? For example a workout recorded with a bike computer or swimming watch. I would think Apple would want the watch to be a fitness hub capable of aggregating all these activities, and I'm surprised they don't implement this.

Apple Watch doesn't even try to be a serious enough device to record many types of sports so why not play nice with devices that do?

It asks you to hand-off to the iPhone, which then does a web search displaying doomsday timers

BAHAHAHAHA!

They will never do such a thing at the expense of other competing devices eating up its sales.

Because Apple needs to save features for upcoming generations of Watches. You'll see that the next iteration of the Watch will be more capable and compatible with a wider range of sports activities.

Don't get why Glances was totally nuked - that was effectively, for me at least the Contacts app where I could start a text or phone call.

How else are you supposed to start a new text message to someone, without invoking Siri or scrolling through past texts to find an old conversation?

I'm missing something. The friend wheels were one of my favorite features. Ami nuts?

My Watch App didn't find it first time as well. I closed the Watch App and reopened and searched again. This time Watch OS 3 was found.
Did you register your watch in the Apple Developer Website??

Realized I need iOS 10 on to install this watch beta. Not ready to go that route yet. Thanks

So with your workouts, is it possible to upload the data to strava using the workout app? I know strava has a separate app but its HR and Calorie calculation is terrible and nowhere near as accurate as the activity app. However I like using strava for the social aspects.

You can now name your "Other" workouts:

If you do this, then you get a list of workouts you can select:

The list is pretty big and you can find your sport usually. I saw everything from badminton to cricket and even swimming in there. If you then save this workout, it will get added to the workout list:

The regular Other workout option (with no named workout) is still present but a new workout entry will get added. So you can have several of these like for swimming and basketball listed, but you can still choose "Other" as those are completely separate types of workout on the presented list.

Pretty nice!

You also now get the current weather in the workout summary page.

Double tapping the current workout (only for walk/runs?) will mark a segment and gives you the pace between the previous segment and the currently marked ones.

The segments can be then viewed in the Apple Watch app on the iPhone. Notice that this is different from the average pace. The pace is also present but the pace and segment is different since the segment is manual.

Force touch to end workout was removed. You have to swipe to end workout which to me is great because I have trouble force touching with sweaty fingers.

You can press the side button and the crown to pause the workout.

So the big question is are all these extra workouts using individual algorithms to calculate calories burnt? Or are they just using the same algorithm for all?

Has anyone tried the Activity sharing the yet? My friend can see my updates on activity, but His doesn't update on my end yet

No, they would all use the "Other" algorithm, which appears to be as simple as your stat's with heart rate. I honestly don't know if it is that simple, but this is what I choose for weight lifting. It's way too difficult to get the correct algorithms for something like weight lifting, but it is still nice to label each with a new name, so you can have chest, back, leg, etc. and can compare those workouts from week to week to see. If you use "other" for weight lifting and then save as "Chest" and then a few days later, you do a something else that doesn't fit under anything else so you use "other" and it has a way different rest, intensity, I can understand the concern for calories.

I think sometimes people get obsessive (not you) with the workout app and precision. At one point, someone didn't know how to handle what to do because they warmup for 10 minutes before doing a weight lifting workout and wondered if they should have two workouts - one for the 10 minute indoor walk and then another "other" workout for lifting. Don't over think... weightlifting may burn more calories the hours after working out than during the workout session. Maybe some days you need 2-3 minute rests and other days you have 30 second rests. It's what makes "other" perfect for weightlifting or HIIT because the numbers will be all over the place.

My advice to anyone would be... workout and don't over think. Use the new feature to label your workout "chest, back, etc" so you can see in the activity what you did and see how each day may have a different calorie burn without obsessing over "did I really burn 550 calories instead of 610?".

None of this was intended for you... just my version of a rant over obsessiveness we all seem to think about too much and sometimes not do something because we get stuck over thinking. :)

My main question, for those of you in the know, with watchOS 3 is it now possible fore developers to make a podcast app for the watch so I can listen to my podcasts strait from the watch? Thanks.

Really enjoying this beta so far. I was pretty skeptical when watching the keynote but they really did squeeze this thing for speed. Kind of shocked they managed to fix things up as well as they did without a hardware revision and I haven't really noticed any change in battery life personally. Makes me hopeful for the prospects of what the new hardware will run like.

Noticed a bug: When in nightstand mode and charging, most of the time when I wake up the screen the time is incorrect for a moment and takes a few seconds to refresh. Reported it to Apple.

Just at work and my watch blurted out "Its 3:15 pm yippeeeee" or something along those lines. Wtf?
Mickie/Minnie face has that as a feature. The audio needs to be unmuted (from the Control Center) and then just touch Mickie/Minnie. Not sure if other faces does that too.

I just tried. I tapped the screen and it did it again...
