Once it is available in the stores then it will be easier to understand. Many people don't take the trouble of ordering if it is going to take 4-6 weeks for the delivery. I did not get up @ 3:00 a.m. and lost my chance. I have not bothered to order it yet.

You don't have to be jealous to put down someone's decision to buy something that the majority believes to be a bad buy or overpriced.

I have co-workers, too, and we have iPhones and iPads and Samsungs, etc. None of us wants one, period. It has nothing to do with jealousy. We can't think of a reason worth >$500 for getting one!

I still haven't seen anyone in public with one, either. Or any of my clients at their offices. I just think it isn't turning out to be the "hip, cool device" everyone thought it would be.

The reactionary language in this comment has a slight scent of "jealousy." I definitely can't claim how someone actually feels, this just doesn't look good.

Nobody should really in their right mind put anyone down for a purchase. As long as people make their own money, legally, it's only their business what they do with it.

One's experience and surrounding opinions definitely aren't representative of reality, either. Personally, I have seen a couple :apple: Watches in the wild. Consider that you also really have to look to them, as they're not the easiest things to spot. (Who's going around looking at people's wrists anyway?)

I was also the last person to really consider owning one, because I hate Watches. They're always attached to me, pulling at my arm hairs, and functionally only do one thing... tell the time. I gave up on watches five years ago for good.

Yet, here I am, wearing one now. It's the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. It's honestly understated how convenient it is to take calls, answer texts, and glance at emails and other information like weather, stocks, activity, etc. on the go. It keeps me from being distracted by my iPhone so I can continue on with my life.

Does this make it "hip" and "cool"? It most certainly does.

The biggest issue I've heard over and over again is, "So what does it do that your phone doesn't" and I always struggle and say "uhhh well you can have notifications on your wrist and there's a heart rate sensor" and then people look at me with a puzzled look.

If you feel that way, your loss. There's so much more.

Yeah I'm actually surprised more people got the bigger version. I got the 38mm and love how sleek and small it looks, rather than the iPhone on wrist look a 42mm would have on me. I say the smaller the better, I wish the watch was just a band that showed notifications and a line of text.

The most common thing people say to me when they see my AW is, "Wow it looks like a watch!" followed by something they don't like about other giant smart watches.

I suspect that once people get to see the AW in the wild, people who've never wanted smartwatches will start to take an interest, in part because of the small size. The fact that it's fairly unobtrusive is part of what makes it great.

I got the 42mm Watch and it seems to be the ideal size. The 38mm is great for smaller wrists, but the display gets to be small enough where you struggle to be able to read what's on it from a reasonable distance
I foresee an ample amount of 38mm watches returned or exchanged.

About as expected. I just never saw the appeal for the masses. Too redundant. Too little benefit for the price and hassles of owning yet another device.

Most would rather put their $350 towards the next phone. AT least that's how I see it.

Apple should have been working harder on improving the phone experience instead of going off on the tangent that is the Watch.

This is just Gen 1. I think this (category of device) will unleash its full usefulness in 2-3 Generations.

This is ridiculous. That number is still 5x that of the nearest competitor and is a great first round for a tech accessory. Haters, shut up. It's still a cool product just maybe not for you-- just like you probably don't have at least one item from the Apple lineup.

But, unlike the competitors, if the smartwatch remains a niche product, Apple will almost certainly drop the product line altogether as profits will not be significant.

80% of the watches sold were 42 mm because Apple screwed up by making a 38 mm watch. If anything, the 42mm should have been the smaller watch. 42 & 48-50 mm would probably have been better, and had a more balanced split in sales. Even when they were announced, I remember thinking how insignificant the 4mm size difference was.

It's not really a loss, its exactly why I bought it, heart rate for fitness and running and so I don't miss notifications/ don't need to pull out my phone. Most everything else can be done more easily and better on the phone.

It's just something that's not a necessity to many people or something that justifies the cost. I think its a good niche product. Do I think it will be revolutionary like the iPhone was? Not just yet. Techs not there yet.

At the end of the day, Apple still sold more in 1 month by far than Google shipped in all of 2014 across all the models they have out. So still a victory :)

If you mean Android Wear watches, then "all of 2014" is misleading, since none were available for the first half of the year. And even after they were available, many pending buyers waited months for the Moto 360 to show up in limited supplies.

That aside, one would expect Apple to sell a lot of their watches to iPhone owners, at least at first.

It'd be neat if each watch type worked perfectly on the other platform as well as its native one. Then price and features would come into play.

So far all orders are online, and Apple is the only one who knows those numbers. Apple is also the only one who knows the supply. So these analysts are writing that demand is slowing down based on having no idea of either supply or demand? Sometimes it's better to just admit that you don't know.

they most definitely have a good guess, though. It's just like an election. News sources aren't actually in back counting votes, but yet they can call a lot of races well before all votes are in.

I work for a tech company and have yet to see one in the office...not one. The device is interesting but
A. Its expensive for what it does
B. This version is still a beta in the eyes of many
C. Its bulky
D. I believe there are a lot of people like me who just dont wear a watch so why start now

I wi reconsider when rev 2 or 3 shows up when its thinner and a more mature product.

Around here we wear long sleeves and heavy jackets half the year. Not so easy to check your Watch as it is in sunny Cupertino. Or so it seems to me.

I'm shocked it is 80% 42mm. I thought it would be closer to 70/30.

It's because women like my wife who is thin/petite, went for a try on session and realized the 42mm watch was still smaller than the round faced Coach watch she was wearing at the time. I wouldn't be shocked if that number becomes 90% over time as more people realize this after seeing them a lot more in the wild.

It's definitely not bulky. It's thinner and lighter than all my other watches. I own about 10.

Jealous?!? What "jealous"??
I could buy 4 flaggin' Apple Watches right now if I wanted to.
Ever stop to think that people's dislike of something maybe might have
something to do with the thing itself and not some misplaced feelings of sour grapes, hmm?

I'd be willing to bet 100% of the people's here dislike of Apple Watch has ZERO to do with so-caled "jealousy"
and EVERYTHING to do with the Apple Watch itself being an unnecessary, expensive POS.

Ummmm. Rhetoric much? I cannot fathom (from someone actively entrenched in the Apple ecosystem, anyway) the outright disdain for an Apple product they've never used. I could call every Apple product an "unnecessary, expensive POS." none of us NEED (specifically) an iPhone. Or an iPad. Or a MacBook.

We CHOSE to buy them. Apple products generally cost more than competitor products. So, am I sitting here typing this on an "unnecessary, expensive POS" or is my 6 plus okay? LOL.

Drama.

Hi there! Its weird at first because having used an iPhone for years you instinctively want to use your fingers on the watch display. Once you start using the Digital Crown though, it makes things much faster to go through. Ex. I like skimming through emails on my watch. If there are longer ones, it quickly becomes natural to just use the crown to scroll at your own pace while not obstructing the screen. It also spins so smoothy that it almost feels like you are using another touch surface. I have noticed though that after a workout that the crown can become a bit harder to spin, but a quick rinse of water above the crown while spinning it makes it feel as smooth as it was out of the box
Let me know if you have any other questions :D
-Proud :apple: Watch owner!

Thanks....so your experience trumps the analyst. Shock!
