...therefore not a good Valentines gift for a non-geek girl.
I don't know about that. When my family converted to iPhones, my wife led the charge. That made a welcome change.

And when I showed her the Apple watch promo videos, her first question was would it work with her 4s? When the answer was no, it became clear we'd all be upgrading to 6's. Done! (Not that I'm complaining. Far from it :D )

And my wife is about as non-geek as you can get: Positively hates "dumb" technology with a passion.

So does alcohol but you don't see anyone having a go at him drinking because that would make them a hypocrite since practically everyone drinks..

Actually, alcohol in moderation is rather beneficial for your cardiovascular system. It goes with the health-oriented iWatch. :D

Cigarettes are not. At least tobacco ones are not, pot is shown to reduce your chances of getting dementia. :D

"Early" in the year is 1st calendar quarter (Jan-Mar). Assuming Apple sticks to this time table then plenty of time for Grads and Dads (and Moms) season. I'm not sure why Valentines was even mentioned. Nothing more romantic than a smart watch. (Sorry, Apple, it's not a Piaget and won't make women swoon, but rather giggle (best case), therefore not a good Valentines gift for a non-geek girl).

I'm pretty sure the gold one would be a very acceptable one for such a gift. You seem to have a weird view of how much into tech the modern young women is. I'm not myself that young, but I'Ve got plenty of those around me. In fact, got the feeling, young women could be the biggest users.

Like millions of other people.

With real watches, there are so many models that it is hard to meet somebody else wearing the same one. Even with inexpensive ones.

True. That's why the differentiating factor will be the band.

And I think the way the band is attached to the watch has been carefully thought of, I would argue that it won't change anytime soon.

You are going to see a lot, and I mean a LOT of third party bands, ranging from a few hundreds to many thousands dollars.

Wow. The band as a differentiating factor. I'm impressed. NOT.

The case is the differentiating factor for hundreds of millions of iPhones. Is it impressive ? No. Is it working ? Yes.

If you look at Apple Watch as a watch, I see your point. But the Apple Watch is no more a watch than the iPhone is a phone. A bracelet is a fashion accessory. Apple Watch is a wearable computer strapped on a bracelet. Bearing a resemblance and a history with a watch (like the crown).

That's not impressive per se. But people are going to love it.

PS: I'm talking about the differentiating factor. The Apple Watch itself from my point of view is a very impressive piece of hardware in design, materials, silicon and software. Hoping to see more of it tomorrow at Colette's.

These photos for sure are ones that Apple doesn't like to see! Smoking, drinking and showing off some prototype gadgets. I bet that's the reason they suddenly changed their profiles to private :D

Not familiar with Paris, huh?

You mean with the outright ban on smoking in public spaces, in force since 2008?

I really do hope Apple has figured out the battery life on the iWatch. A single day will not cut it, as even Samsung is just coming out with multi-day batteries.

To me, the Apple Watch has always been synonymous with guys in t-shirts drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. "The watch for the rest of us."

What is the woman in the background doing

Trying to figure out why she bought a Google Glass.

I've got a conflict. I'm the type that gets such products on day one, but in this case I really want to try the different sizes and bands to figure out what model to get. Apple has some great photos, but it just seems like the kind of thing you need to try on. Think they will have some samples in store before the sale?

i think you're doing it wrong.

Smoke different perhaps?

Hilarious.. thanks :))

Back to the watch issue, like what some others said, what most geeks are missing is that Apple is actually going into the jewelry business, not the tech business with the apple Watch. They are releasing a piece of jewelry with some tech on it, not the other way around. Why do you think they hired the head of Yves Saint-Laurent two years ago to work on "special projects" ..

The fashion statement here is "I wear an Apple Watch". The object if you will.

The face fall into the "personal choice". Which you're right, won't be seen by anyone passing you by. Unless you're using the watch.

Also that's why Apple worked so hard on the straps. They are so much nicer (and more fashionable) than the usual "smartwatch" straps.

You will certainly not meet millions of other people wearing a Watch Edition ...

What time zone is this invite in? Could anyone change it to Pacific or Eastern US time, pretty please (I'd do it myself except I don't know what time zone this show is in, and I'm a tad too lazy to look up what timezone the city is in).
