lol I just realized there's a second protrusion where the Digital Crown is. Totally unsymmetrical.

This Apple Watch needs to be compelling enough for me to switch. Right now, it looks awful. The protrusions suck. I'm not a fan of a flat display. We'll see.

Also if it isn't compatible with my 45mm watch, then definite naaah for me.

Right, That’s a great lesson of marketing
There have been the three (S3, SE, S6/7) options available for two years. Apple is merely (presumably) shifting the median cost somewhat higher, with the S8 now being that option.

Call me when they reduce the thickness by half. Otherwise, not interested in wearing that monstrosity on my wrist.
Reduce by half would be rather unnecessary and IMHO nearly impossible what with screen technology, protection, internal battery geometry and requirements and overall circuit board design.

I could imagine a maybe 10-15% reduction overall in a future design WITH A larger footprint form factor, bigger screen area - bigger battery, possibly different case materials that offer more strength with less material and weight.

I’m still rocking a series 6, and the thickness is quite fine and manageable but I would like some more screen real estate and better battery life.

Eight years ago I found the "iWatch" leaks so ugly because I like circular cylindrical watches. I bought the model 2 and 6 anyway. 🤷‍♂️ I strongly believe that the reality distortion field is not in the juice but in the logo. 😁

I actually like the square more than round. I have a samsung watch (3 I think) that I never wear, it's just not very likeable and doesn't do near as much. The useable screen is just WAY too small.

I see a lot of people don't know what a CAD render is.
I suspect most people do, but they're looking past that and seeing ugly anyway. That outrigger is NOT a good look. (that old asymmetrical boogieman) Maybe if it was on both sides like a good watch, it would be okay, but just on the right, no way, no how.

If Apple is serious about targeting athletes it needs to get the software right, not the hardware.

Personally, I'd like a longer battery life for very long activities. But I realize that not very many people are looking for that and that my needs are better met by a more specialized watch from Garmin, etc. Still, it'd be nice.

The thing is, the vast majority of people don't have massive wrists. Although having said that, I have seen plenty of people who wear expensive watches and it looks so ridiculous on their wrists it's embarrassing. A watch should fit a wrist depending on size and the reason they are made in different sizes.

A massive watch on a small wrist - No no
A small watch on a massive wrist - No no
A correct size watch for the size of your wrist - Yes yes...classic.

Same goes for the watch strap. Make sure it's wide/narrow enough for the wrist in question.

Said every MacRumors member when the iPhone 4 started leaking. “SO Un-Apple.” “Look at those round metal volume buttons, no way!” “Anyone who thinks this is real has never owned an Apple product.” I could go on.

This isn’t even a photo of the watch. Let’s see what it actually looks like before queuing the works.
Yeah but like its shape isn't even symmetric...

New CAD images of the upcoming Apple Watch "Pro" have been shared online by 91mobiles, providing a closer look at the alleged design of the device.

The renders line up with Apple Watch "Pro" case images shared earlier this morning, revealing the inclusion of a new physical button on the left side of the watch. The new button is visible within the CAD images, which show it sitting beneath three holes likely to be the speaker vents.

As for the Digital Crown, the CADs reveal a much more rugged look for the dial compared to the current version. Both the Digital Crown and Side Button appear to be housed within a new chassis protrusion on the side of the Apple Watch Pro, which could make them more easily accessible. The display on the watch is completely flat, unlike the Apple Watch Series 7, which features curved edges around the display.

In his Power On newsletter this weekend, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said that the Apple Watch "Pro" will feature a significantly larger display that will likely "be bigger than most wrists." Past rumors have suggested a case size between 47mm and 48mm for the device. Apple plans to use the larger display to display additional metrics to athletes during workouts, and there will also be redesigned watch faces, according to Gurman.

The new Pro model will sit at the top of the Apple Watch lineup, with pricing expected to fall in the $900 to $1,000 range. Apple is expected to announce the all-new Apple Watch "Pro" during an event on Wednesday, September 7. The new high-end Apple Watch will join the new Apple Watch Series 8 and an updated Apple Watch SE in the lineup.

Update: Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says the renders shared by 91Mobiles accurately depict the design of the Apple Watch "Pro."

If the battery lasted at least three to five days without having to charge it I might consider the $1000 price point. The ability to make phone calls even without a satellite connection would be great, specially since I am planning a trip to Patagonia for my 40th. Garmin already has watches that are at that price point. The battery is the reason I don't use my Apple Watch daily. I wish they would give us the battery at a small price range.

Can someone explain how I press the button on the right without pressing the button on the left at the same time?
There are no buttons on the corners, where the case meets the strap. Try placing a thumb/finger there. Easy spot to locate without looking, and works for all current and rumored buttons...

I hate to say it … but this looks hideous … fine by me, I am about to go back to a traditional/mechanical watch anywho.. The edge around the glass looks like a 45 degree angle - that will not deflect nicks/dings very well. I do not think this is the real deal.

As a triathlete I hope that this new Apple Watch plays well with other platforms, like Training Peaks. The main reason I have a Garmin is so that my coach can send me workouts and then track detailed results. Currently that's not possible on an Apple Watch.

If Apple is serious about targeting athletes it needs to get the software right, not the hardware.
Very unlikely chance of that ever happening. Apple will build up a subscription service of their own long before they start playing seemlessly (and this being direct competitors) with the same programs that serious users use.

Don't worry though, you have Nike Run integration, isn't that enough?

Apples sense of design went to **** as soon as they decided it was acceptable to put a big plastic bean on the back of an iPod for its wireless antenna and they’ve been making ugly decisions ever since
You win most absurd internet comment today. Apple's "ugly decisions" continue to keep Apple the most successful tech creator ever - - by a lot.

Currently one needs to enter one's passcode using a numeric touchpad on the watch every time the watch gets put on. Using Touch ID instead would be a huge value add.
Oh true if you have passcode enabled. Good point. I've currently got that disabled but I know some people use it.
