Apple sent me a new cellular to replace mine that wouldn't charge and it won't activate on Spectrum's network. Spent 3 days with tech and it just won't do it
I spent hours trying to activate my Verizon lte watch this year. Even the tech on the phone spent awhile. Come to find out all of a sudden the E911 address was causing the activation to fall so I had to use an address near my house - finally was able to activate. Crazy stuff.

I get it support has to follow the procedures, but at some point the CRM software should tell support tech, "customer has done that 10 times already, don't go there."

This is so underrated. Apple analytics are likely some of the most extensive and exhaustive in the world, these guys should be able to do this.. do not approach with something the customer has already done several times, this will only annoy the customer. Any one, in fact! Not just the customer!

My new replacement that I got today wont activate on Verizon. Really upset about it because I switched to a different plan for a discount on my service. And they sent me a replacement after they launched a update that soldved my problem.

So the replacement wouldn't activate and then they sent you another?

Has anyone here activated a series 7 cellular on Spectrum?
That's one of the things keeping me from considering a different mobile carrier. I saw ads for Mint Mobile and figured, wow, now that I sit at home all day and rarely use 1GB/mo, I could REALLY save some money here. But they don't work with Apple Watches so... I mean it wouldn't be the end of the world losing LTE on my watch but dang, that is some serious $ savings over what I pay now for Verizon.

No I got a replacement for the battery issue we all had. The next day they had a update that fixed the problem, yesterday I finally got my replacement and tried getting it connected with my cellular service and Verizon said they can not activate. They said because its a newer model. I am on the phone with apple support right now and will let you know what they say.

I'm very disappointed with apple not knowing what they are doing. Sending replacements and not knowing that a update is coming out that will fix all of are problems. And the new replacements are not able to activated to are carrier for what ever reason. They said they will tell their engineering team about the issue, and they also told me that other people that have the replacements are having the same issue. They said they will update me on the situation within 24 hours. Apple needs to get their **** together. This has been extremely annoying.

When I got the replacement watch I had similar issues getting it activated and the process was more one of thrust and then confirmation since the old one had to be of my findmy and apple account id. I never got confirmation from the Verizon servers that the watch was active although went through all their steps. I have found that when I then shut the watch down restart it ,it connect to the network and showed up on my account and working as normal although non of the steps showed that the watch was actually connected. in other words I never got confirmation from the Verizon system after going through he activation process but after restarting it ,it worked as normal.

I’m having the same issue with my Watch (45mm, Cellular).

Even the update to watchOS 8.1.1 didn’t fix it.

It’s just annoying.
The first days the Watch charged fine and ultra fast (15% in 10min or so), but now I’m just having problems.

It’s not fast charging anymore. Ist not charging normal anymore. It’s some kind of an ultra slow charging mode, some kind of 10% in 30 min or even less. Sometimes the night mode is constantly turning on and off or the lockscreen apears.

Only thing that helps is to hard reset the Watch. But for now my new Watch is just a disappointment. Just unreliable charging. Never had such issues with my series 3.

Have you all reported this to Apple? The more thats reported the more Likelihood they will get right on it

I am thinking about jumping into the AW7 pool (swamp?). Is this problem still pervasive or is it a few random problems that may be expected lemons for a mass produced device?

I don't know how widespread this problem is.
However, there are several posts on the topic on various websites. Unfortunately, as I said, the update to watchOS 8.1.1. did not helped. At the moment, charging is just extremely unreliable.

It happened to me very early this morning for the first time. I have three Apple Watches (Series 3 Cellular & GPS, Series 4 Cellular & GPS & Series 7 Cellular & GPS) I currently have my Series 3 powered down and out of rotation. I wear my Series 4 now as a Sleep watch I placed my Series 7 on my slow charger (Yes it was connected) yesterday afternoon (classic puck with a Apple 5W charger) I have been using this setup since launch day on the 7. I vaguely remember not hearing the "charging chime" and did not give it any thought (OOPS!) I went to swap out my 4 with my 7 and it was at 10% charge.

I keep my faster charging system in my family room (Series 7 USB-C charging cable & powered by my old iPhone 11 PM 18W Apple USB-C charger) the charging chime sounded & it started charging without a need of a restart. hmmm....

Ps...mine is a 45MM

Got my AW7 Cellular last Friday and have no charging issues so far. But I noticed that the charging chime sound does not appear every time. Did check then by tapping the screen to see if it is charging and it is.
Is this a phenomenon of the problem?

Oh man all this gives me pause.

Is there a common denominator of watches that are affected? Am considering 45mm titanium, anyone have one of these with the problem?

How does the trade in work? Can I buy the 7 with trade in and not send the trade in to Apple until the return period of the new watch ends just to make sure it’s working as advertised?

I appreciate the collective wisdom of the forum

I have a 45mm cellular and my wife has the smaller one - cellular as well. Since the latest update, as far as I know, neither of us have had issues with charging. I only note that sometimes the watch takes FOREVER to charge on the older chargers that had no problem charging the S6. But nothing too abnormal or problematic.

The issue just about killed my 7 45mm alu. and it started just a few days before the update. It was charging for all of 20 seconds before becoming totally unresponsive for a good minute or 2. Luckily the update (which I did immediately) totally resolved the issue for me.

Good luck to those still dealing with it.

Ok, night 4 and the charging problem is there. Took my 45mm alu cellular with watchOS 8.1.1 from charger and watch wasn‘t charged. 100% sure I heard the chime and saw the charging sign.

Put it back on the charger and it is charging now with normal speed. I use an old charger.

Is „optimized charging“ maybe the issue?

When I do the trade in at a physical Apple Store, you do indeed have until the end of the return period to bring in your old watch to trade in. I'm not sure how long you have if you are doing it over mail, but you should have at least a few days before having to send in the old watch.

Update: The last week was fine. Charged my watch for about 6-7 times without any problems. It is weird.
