So confusing to have an article sprinkled with dimensions in inches and mm. Computers are all in inches and watches in mm, can’t we agree to do all as metric?!
I feel like the Apple Watch can be very versatile but that depends allot on you the bands you choose the watch faces you use, I find it to be highly customizable.I am so bored with my Apple Watch these days that I wear it - at most - once per month. Seems like everyone is wearing the same watch — how incredibly boring that is. And for someone who sees no value in the exercise rings any longer they really annoy me when I do. Why can't we just switch the rings completely off — everywhere?
So, for me, a redesigned Watch would have to be a radical departure from the current design. That will probably not happen.
Happy now?Or in my case, if they make a big ass rapper from the early 2000's sized watch..
Are people in the US the only ones who can think in two units? I wouldn't think that fractions or decimals would be so difficult for the rest of the world.Yeah the whole article was lost on me as well. Is it too much to ask to at least include metric units too?
It's probably easier to learn metric than imperial if you aren't familiar with it, simply because it's multiples of 10.Are people in the US the only ones who can think in two units? I wouldn't think that fractions or decimals would be so difficult for the rest of the world.
Whether you think it is frivolous or not, a redesign, even if it doesn’t enhance function, will sell watches. A lot of people are attracted by newness and want others to see they have the latest (easy to see when there’s a new design). It’s silly, but if it helps sell, the fact it doesn’t improve functionality is not gonna stop them. Doesn’t mean they’ll do it now, though. Some of the comments in this thread are tiresome.
The Apple Watch isn’t designed to entertain you. It’s a functional, wearable device designed to help you with wellbeing, stay connected and perform light weight interactions.
Changing the design to the fake square rumours from last year offers no functional benefit. Some suggest it might allow for a slightly higher capacity battery. Perhaps but it won’t suddenly go from a rated 18 hours of battery to 36. Maybe a couple of hours at best.
Changing a design just because people are ‘bored’ is also a stupid reason to change it. Especially if it leads to a less ergonomic user experience. Again this is not a device designed to entertain you.
The renders are little more than fan fiction. Apple is very unlikely to make design alterations this year because it did so last year. They might not be the tweaks you wanted but they added a functional benefit in the form of a larger display.
Here’s what Apple should actually do:
- Improve battery life with enhancements in display technology, battery density (or battery chemistry) and a more efficient processor
- Retain the design unless changing it will offer a functional improvement to user experience
- Continue to add new health sensors to empower more people to take control of their well-being and fitness
That might not excite you or entertain you. But it will result in a much better user experience. That isn’t to say I’m against a design change. But I don’t believe in change for the sake of change. If you have a short attention span and can’t cope without a design change, I think TikTok has 15 second videos to help.
Form should usually follow function. Apple is good at making form still look good. aW is about the data and apps, not the requirements of cogs and watch hands.is it a round AW really off the table ? I wear round sportwatches from Garmin, I'm a female with tiny wrist, and the only way to make a bigger watch, with a bigger battery, and without looking ridicolous on normal human wrists is making them ROUND, because the bigger diametres lies horizontal on the arm, and not vertically like in the square body where the watch lies off the edges of the wrist.
You would think Apple knows this by now, also given the majority of their watchefaces being circulaire and not square (because a round watch/watchfaces just LOOKS better, duh).
Also one of the reasons why woman usually dislike them and this one probably even more. Its size, thickness and look is simply to masculine and nerdy.I like the flat edge design. It looks so much more masculine than the curved edges.
Sadly, they're probably the same thing - longer battery life by having a larger battery.I have no interest is a larger watch, just longer battery life.
I think this is what the Apple Watch needs to offer something ‘different’ in terms of offering something maybe a little bit more robust that is meant more for those who are doing things that are more likely to damage the Apple Watch, but also offer some unique features like i.e-stronger casing, higher water resistance rating, A more durable-larger display, ect.I’m really hoping rumours are true and they will release a rugged sport model.
