It does look too big for your wrist 🤷🏻♂️I just received delivery of the Apple Watch Ultra with green alpine loop in Sydney Australia. I also bought the orange alpine loop.
@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 - As promised I made a first impressions thread anyway even though a lot of you lucky Americans have got the watch already!
First impressions:
Comparison pics are with my Series 7 Hermès.
- Packaging is nice and offers a different, more premium unboxing experience.
- The watch is not as big as I expected. The case is bigger and thicker but it doesn’t feel heavier on the wrist compared to the S7 stainless steel.
- For reference, my wrist size is 155mm and I wear a Size 5 solo loop. The two alpine loops I have are both size small.
- The natural titanium looks and feels premium. I’ve always had stainless steel versions so I’m interested to see what the wear and tear will look like
- The G hook on the alpine loop will take some getting used to. It wasn’t easy to take the watch on and off.
- The flat screen looks and feels amazing to swipe on and it’s a clear differentiator from the standard series.
- Display area is only slightly bigger than my Series 7 and the bezels are noticeable. They’re probably waiting til next year to reduce them and make it an incentive to upgrade.
- Action button is useful for starting workouts. Will need to play around more to see what secondary functions I can assign to it.
Band pics include sport band, solo loop, leather loop, leather link, Milanese loop, steel link bracelet and some Hermès leather single tours.
Happy to take questions!
Edited to add pics of the midnight ocean band. Feels so nice!

Is this the Apple Silver Link Bracelet?
Direct from the Apple marketing dept. burner account 😂Not my pic, wrist size 165mm
yesIs this the Apple Silver Link Bracelet?
I like them and they’re really stretchableFor those with Ocean Bands, how are you liking them compared to the prior sport bands and/or Nike bands?
Nope, someone posted the pic on apple watch redditDirect from the Apple marketing dept. burner account 😂
Bu11shit that’s a 165mm wrist btw.
This is what I’m excited for. Surprised Apple couldn’t say the link worked to begin with. I don’t get it.It looks surprisingly good. The material isn’t exactly the same but they go well together. Might have to wear this combo more![]()
I may have a solution…I ordered this strap which I think will go well with the titanium finish:Oh no!!! The size small only goes up to 160mm and you would find it difficult to fit your hand through it.
Also you probably won’t have enough strap to loop back to hook it through the slots.
Fear of missing out so here it is!

It doesn’t feel heavy on the wrist at all. And it’s much lower profile than the pics on the apple website.Mania,
Is the Ocean band overly thick in the sense that it feels heavy or when on the wrist, really sticks out?
If you think it's more minimal in looks and in weight, I may change my pickup order today from the Alpine loop. Thanks.

I know but I didn’t think in person it would look odd, I don’t like the fact the bezel and case are so big it makes the screen look even smaller, I’m returning it and sticking with series 7 it’s very dissatisfying, they could of made the screen bigger they even said the biggest screen ever in a watch and it’s so small you can’t notice it
What’s your wrist size and is that a size S or M alpine loop?Unboxed and wow, this product screams quality. It actually surprised me in a couple of ways which I’ll explain. The watch has only one negative aspect and it’s finishing. The titanium honestly looks like a regular aluminium AW model. It doesn’t have the sheen of the Edition Ti models and it looks more like a Starlight colour.
Build quality wise it is sturdy. The moment I lift the watch from the box I knew this is a tank. The crown, side button and the orange button are all easily accessible and provide sufficient feedback when pressed.
I got the Alpine loop as you can see. Initially I thought it’s gonna be tough to put the hook on and off but in typical Apple fashion, IT JUST WORKS! It took me less than a second to get the hook into the individual loop and took me about the same time taking it off. The fit is just nice for my small wrist. I’ve attached some front and barrel shots to compare. For some reason the front shots make the watch’s “lug to lug” length longer than it actually is.
This device isn’t rushed to the market. It feels like Apple took their time and worked for a long time to come up with this.
I wish I could keep this but my SBTi S7 still serves me well.

What’s your wrist size and is that a size S or M alpine loop?
Sliding the band in and out of the watch seems “grindy”. I could feel metal rubbing on metal.
So you are not impressed with the Alpine then?
I have a size 5-6 watch band (about 150mm) and went with the medium size. Hope that was correct.
Also have the Ocean band on order. Canceling one or the other. Just can't decide which band I want and it sounds like you don't like the Alpine loop.
You bought this just to try on and then send it back???I wish I could keep this but my SBTi S7 still serves me well.
I’m a fan of the Alpine loop. Just not a fan of how rough it is attaching the band to and from the watch itself. I’m afraid it would scratch the insides of the lugs where the band attachment goes in. If you don’t swap out your band often then it shouldn’t be an issue.
