I guess it another marketing tool to say theses things to drive up demand! I do like the Jet Black color but not sure which size. Many people tell me to go with better feature set which is the + and it a $129 step up price. I have to go to the Apple Store and see how the 5.5" feels. It look much bigger when looking at it from someone else holding it! LOL!

After ALL these years of Apple issuing new iPhones WHY is there STILL limited supply stories? ... fishy, fishy.

Does Apple have a clue about their business model? It's all hype and BS, lad .. nothing more, nothing less.

Do you think they have some factories on Titan? Because as far as i know there is a limit to everything.

The facts are that, phones available on the 16th were built weeks ago and are in warehouses around the world now. There are only two possible reasons for this new sentiment from Apple:
.

Well actually, you're wrong. On launch day Apple typically ships directly from China, although for the last few launches they were shipping out of the US.

In any case, 10.0.1 GM just was released yesterday, which means that it was probably ready last week. They can't box the phones until GM software is ready because they need to burn them onto the phone, so they can't be sitting in a warehouse weeks ago.

This is a JiT production system and a line can only produce so many products. There's a huge ocean of parts that all come together, and while the phone can theoretically be assembled ahead of time Apple generally tends to put GM software on them...which means that, at least on launch day the devices are fresh from the factory.

Hmmm... So they say supply limits the amount of units they sell the first weekend and thus the numbers are skewed, yet they're continuously taking more orders and building a backlog. Even if they only have 10 million units on hand the first weekend and they take 15 million total orders that still means they sold 15 million phones whether they had the physical inventory at the time or not. That is just as valid a sales metric, is it not?

The idea apple is doing this because they will sellout is a strange one, if they sellout it shows to investors they weren't ready for the release. This stinks imo

Makes no sense. What number do they need to hit for it to be a success? Do they need to hit it and still have some stock or they can then sell out? Your logic is stupid.

No, I have many Apple products and have been a fan. Their approach now seems malicious and driven purely by profit and not a mixture of innovation and profit. Oh and they don't pay taxes.

To add to this I find it weird that they spent so much time on developing silly stuff like the new balloons etc. in iMessage, sending your heartbeat in the watch and endless showcasing of games in their key notes while stopping development on some of their previous flagship software. It's like the entire company has a midlife crisis :)

How is it?

If I tell you that I have 100 phones and sellout it's a flop.

If I tell you I have lots of phones and that I sell out its a success.

I guess supply is lower than 8 or 9 million at opening weekend. They would never be able to match the previous years with the 6 or 6s, even if demand was higher. Guess we' ll have to wait until the next conference call. If sales are good, they will definitely call the sale numbers of the 7 during the conference call. If not, they won' t make statements about the sales numbers of the iPhone 7 , just total sales...

Apple is in a "damn if you do, damn if you don't" situation lately, so whatever they do has little effect on what people think. At least the "bright" people of Macrumors.

No, you're just an irrelevant exception to the rule. You'd be buying one with a headphone jack as well anyway.

Hold it there. Just because you feel one way doesn't make other viewpoints irrelevant. I have a feeling that your "rule" is actually more of an exception.

They're either less confident in this product then they were for the 6s or they have low supply. They can word it how they want but that's the reality of the situation.

They are just reacting to the situation. All i know that every single phone will be sold out tomorrow. If that's not success then what is?

Well is this not the place where Apple fans congregate and discuss their feelings towards the latest Apple product? From this reaction, we already know how Apple fans feel. Most of the commentators who have been described as "trolls" have been members for a while. It's not like they just signed up after the iPhone announcement.

The people who are on this site are hardly an appropriate random sample that accurately reflects what millions of Apple customers are feeling.

I noticed that the more Apple does something that this forum doesn't like the more successful Apple is.

last year, at least for me the app was offline until like 310. when should i try like at 258? or right at 3. referring to the app.

thanks
That's hard to say. For the 5S the web site wasn't even open or was crashing. While I was pulling my hair out, people were posting here that they breezed through on the app. For the Apple Watch I went with the app and got two with no trouble while others were reporting waiting on the web store. I don't know anything more than the next guy, but it seems like the web portal was prioritized lower than the App portal. Maybe it's just me. Either way, I'd definitely be hitting either/or before 3 am EST, they have started earlier in the past, IIRC. The debit credit card issue, if it still is one, is that they do not charge you the full amount at the time you place the order. They charge your card when it is prepped for shipment. I guess with a debit card they can't be sure that the money will be there when it is ready for shipping. With a credit card they can put an authorization with the bank, so it makes things cleaner for them. Maybe that has changed.
Either way, it is a fun time being up and checking in with other buyers. I am not playing this go around, but some of the best MR forum experiences I have have had have been from the evening of device order to the day the device is delivered. After that the euphoria kind of dies off....

Good luck!

No they're mostly apple fanboys, why else would we discuss a company?

I doubt that. Although you could be on to something. I bet a lot of the people who constantly spout anonymously and safely on the internet about how the company done them wrong will be waiting, bated breath, to purchase when pre-orders open.

I'm still a supporter of the iPhone 7. I'll add to the sales numbers by purchasing one.
Believe it or not, I am still a supporter, too. Of course, I'm madder than a hornet about the removal of the headphone jack. I think it's a real shame to retain the comparatively low resolution of the smaller model. I'm very negative on a lot of things Apple right now. Witness my new grumpy signature. ;)

But I do think it is a solid upgrade despite those points, especially for folks who don't give a hoot about the missing headphone jack. I think it's got some good spec bumps and will handle everything iOS 10 and Mario and Pokemon Go throw at it. I originally championed the adoption of USB-C but recent readings about safety concerns over poor implementations of the new standard have got me wondering if Apple doesn't have a point holding back on that for now.

If the cameras on both models live up to the keynote promises, it's going to be a nice point and shoot camera phone, too. Piano black and matte black and silver look slick with the newly moved antenna lines. Rose gold and gold unfortunately still look a little too contrasted. Oh well. The camera bumps are still ugly but I've seen way worse on the competition. At least they're up in a corner, out of the way. The phones themselves don't make me too mad...missing 3.5 jack notwithstanding, which as I said does make me mad. It's other aspects of Apple's doings that have me making my  and :( and  faces so often these days.

I don't know if I will get the 7 or not. I'm not preordering this time around, but I'll read all the reviews and play with the store models. I'll give it a fair chance to replace my 6SPlus, which is a fabulous phone but I want an even better camera.

Very strange response in the forums here.

Apple have clearly stated here that the 7 and 7 Plus will sell out, which will understate first weekend sales.

The story is that supplies will be limited, not that demand will be flat!

Or supply is limited AND demand is flat, so now is as good a time as ever to get out of the first-weekend sales reporting habit. Their quarterly guidance clearly estimates that sales will be less than the same period last year.

You realize that Apple is in a business of selling as much as possible, not in a business of playing stupid games?

But it's definitely not in Apple's interests to overestimate demand. If they underestimate demand and don't manufacture enough, they may lose some sales but more likely many will wait/order and it makes great headlines that the iPhone is sold out. If they overestimate demand, they're potentially left with unsold stock, and the word goes out that the iPhone is underperforming, damaging the hype they work so hard to engender.

I reckon Apple intentionally make conservative estimates of launch demand figures, for just this reason. Given that even the conservative estimates are so astronomical, it's easy to miss. :)
