Honestly what is the point. If this post is for real, and I believe it is, then the replacement phone will just bend again. I would get a refund.

Consumer Reports says the iPhone 6 is no more bendable than the Note. They've actually tested it. Apple doesn't need to replace something that isn't defective just because of a runaway fake controversy. OP is lying.

What's the point of replacing it if they all bend ? Rather get your money back.

This. If you did accidentally bend it especially in a weeks time then a new one will likely eventually bend again.

You are better off with a more durable phone.

I keep my phones in heavy duty cases, don't wear nice jewelry, don't carry around certain things all because I know my active lifestyle would end up breaking such fragile things. And if I felt that even in a case I'd end up breaking an iPhone I would own an iPhone.

As unfortunate as it is its as easy as that. I'm not going to change my life style or the way I do things so I can carry a particular phone when there are so many other options out there.

Consumer reports said they iPhone bent permanently around 90 lbs and the Note around 150 lbs. That is significant.

Did they publish anything else since there test? If so please post a link for source. Curious who is actually lying here.

LOL. So basically apple is not replacing their defective phones. Nice. Heck, even Samsung replaced the S4 active when it got water in it and that is obvious user error.

Hey billion dollar company.. Yes you apple. When it's being mocked on Conan you should probably eat it and replace them.

Granted the Samsung Galaxy S4 is also rated to be water resistant for 30 mins for up to 1 meter. If the phone couldn't meet that requirement and it was faulty then it needs to be replaced.

Apple never said the 6+ was indestructible or that it wouldn't bend. They test it up to 50-55 lbs of pressure. Consumer Reports says it will stand up to 90 lbs before deforming.

If you apply more pressure to a 7.1 mm thick device than what Apple decides is "acceptable" or "normal" then that is on you. It is after all, their product and their specifications. If you buy it then you need to take care of it based on their requirements. If you want it to be different, design "your" own phone to meet "your" specifications. Or buy something else.

At some point you have to take some responsibility for your own actions and treatment of your devices.

Where to put it ?

Where else are you going to put your phone ? Unless you are a chick with a purse it goes in your pocket. I cannot have one hand reserved to holding this phone 24/7. I think apple may have gone a little to far on this one " thinnest lightest phone on the planet"

Sorry, got it confused with the HTC One M8 which performed worse.

It seems to be within the average range anyway, not even the most bendable out there. It's clear that with these bigger thinner phones people need to be more careful.

I think what he is saying is that unless it was taken out of the box bent, something had to make it bend which makes sense. Don't think it would bend by itself without some pressure. Hope you get it figured out.

Mmm the disadvantage of unboxing outside the Apple store. No one should have to though.

So you really have nothing better to do since this didnt happen to you?

Suspect intelligence... I'd say so.

It's not that he has nothing better to do, it's that he needs to collect his paycheck from Samsung for his monthly quota of posting.

Not very well handled but tbh I bet they're wanting to get as many of these replaced via in-store solutions as possible so that the Genius can examine the phone and try and see whether it looks deliberate or not. Considering how many idiots are going around trying to bend their phones...

That said, I hope it's figured out in the store, and that they start handling this a bit better. This seems to be contrary to the public statement they put out.

I wonder who would bend it on purpose other than those making these crazy videos?

My wife has an iphone, so do I but it collects dust. I use an S5 active and love it. I have to put a screen protector on her phone every few months as she tears that screen up. Its full of scratches. She has a pocket in her purse just for the phone and she always swears she doesn't know how the scratches got there. You know what it was from? Sand. Little bits of sand from the beach. It just blows in. Sounds crazy but guess what? Sand scratches glass. I don't doubt that phone bent in her purse. Just watch your wife, she will drop that purse on the ground, throw it in the car seat next to her, whatever. If the phone can't take that abuse then it is designed defective plain and simple.

I am just going to throw this out there but maybe throw a case on it or something. Lifeproof, otterbox, etc. something with a built in screen protector or some kind of extra protection if you or your wife are hard on phones. Remember, these are electronic devices. They typically do not do well with bangs, drops, pressed on, etc... Would you treat your iPad or Samsung tablet that way and expect it not to break?

Some are built for more active individuals and therefore can handle some extra abuse. Others are not. Use and protect them as you see fit but don't blame the manufacture if you are hard on your phone. They didn't tell you to be and that it would be ok, did they?

Lol at those on high horses in this thread. Look at the profile of the user who's phone bent. A (seemingly) normal and educated woman who just put her phone in her bag. Not some 300lb hat toting gorilla !

The IPhone 6: Not woman proof.

Lol

Nice sensationalistic post title there. You can return any iphone within 14 days. Take it to the Apple Store.

Pretty simple here. They want you to bring it in so that they can inspect it and determine how it was really bent. Do you really expect them to just offer a free replacement over the chat log? If that were the case then everyone with a 6 Plus could just purposely bend them whenever they wanted a new one. Some people sometimes let their entitlement as a consumer overwhelm basic logic from the perspective of the company.

One thing I will say is that I find the story of your wife's phone bending in her purse, which theoretically means little to no pressure was put on it, just bent on its own. So either you, her, or both are outright lying or hiding the real way that it got bent. Aluminum phones don't just bend on their own. That's not even possible. There's a user inflicted factor in there that clearly you don't want to admit.

Not surprised though. I've seen people do extraordinary things to deceive Apple and get free replacements.

But let's say you're being honest about the whole thing and the phone did in fact just magically curl up and bend on its own. Why would you want a replacement that would likely just do the same thing? I'd buy a different phone from another company and return the iPhones for a refund.

My issue with this whole ordeal is that the guy was told at least two times to go to the store to have it looked over. That's what I would do, even if I had to make time to do it. Do I think it bent in her purse? Not really, unless the purse was one of those tiny handbags in which she shouldn't have been jamming a phone in there anyways. Oh well. I'm just here to read the comments, what do I know?

There's no way it would bend from just being in a purse. I've seen some videos. Some pressure has to be applied. OP lied to Apple and us.

Apple probably has the best customer service of any tech company. I've had two iPhones replaced by them. My 3 started cracking a bit. I went in to ask if they had suggestions on how I could prevent it and they gave me a new phone. If the OP would go to the store they would probably replace it. Why he is lying about how it got bent I do not know, but if he goes to the store and is honest they would probably help him.

Speaking as someone who WORKED for Apple I am completely appalled that devices like these would bend so easily.

I had people day in and day out yelling at my face because their battery was bad (it wasn't), their device freezes, they have any issue and they are out of warranty and how dare apple not follow through on their products. And then I have people like the members of this forum complaining about yellow screens, dead pixels, minor scuffing when in reality these issues are all within tolerance of Apple quality control. So yes, I hate to tell you, but yellow screens are considered normal and every genius who has swapped out a yellow device was doing you a favor. The same goes for Macs.

Some people scream at the bar.

If screaming customers can get their way (and they ALWAYS do if they are loud enough) am I going to deny a genuine mistake due to a possible manufacturing flaw? NO. Especially if someone is nice and sincere about it.

If I can make multiple exceptions to *******s all the time I will make exceptions to those who I feel truly deserve it.

That's the beauty of the Genius Bar.

So yes. I will tell the original poster to lie. Because I sincerely believe Apple should cover this device under warranty especially given how new the device is and as long as there are no signs of apparent physical damage.

They don't easily bend. It is called common sense. Take care if your ****.

I would be nice and not lie. Apple has great customer service and people seem to be incapable of understanding that you will get better service being nice and honest.

LoL

That must have been quite a sight.

Wonder if she actually got what she wanted by screaming ;)

She is lucking I wasn't there. I would have confronted her. The only thing I hate more than people like Her are thieves.

Apple: "How did you phone bend?"

Liar: "My wife had it in a totally empty padded purse hanging in the air."

Apple: "Screw off samesung executive."

Liar: "Damn it, they got us again."

I do have to admit I'm a little upset that Apple aren't really acknowledging this issue. Of course they are going to down-play it, saying only 9 devices have been reported to have this issue when we all know it's likely to be far higher, considering seeing how easy it is to bend the phones and the fact that they've sold 10 million of these.

Although I'd like to think they'd replace the iPhones on the standard one-year warranty, it's not finically viable since people could end up getting lots of replacements - at least with the Applecare+ you'll only going to get 2 replacements.

It's completely understandable why they'll only solve your issue under Applecare+ but I do agree it's upsetting. I really hope they decide to bring out a case that should help with this issue that they'll give out for free like they did the 4S.

It doesn't matter, apple sheep will still line up no matter how terrible the product is.

Why so naive? Forgetting about the 6+ with it's bend issue, Apple products are well made, it's proven that Apple products usually last for longer than their android/window equivalents. Again, many people prefer the simplicity of iOS over Android.

Of course, android and window products also have their positives, not sure why you feel need to dis people who have a preference.

Ya, Apple stuff lasts as long as other similarly priced equipment. Certainly no longer and probs less.

It does depend on the product, but Apple's build quality on Macbooks is exceptional and proven to last longer than the equivalent windows laptop - to be fair the newer products from companies like Samsung, Asus etc are much better built than they used to be.

Since when did how the user carries the phone become Apple's problem? They make 2 sizes so the users can pick the size that is most appropriate for their own use.

People used to carry around portable radios, boom boxes, cassette players, etc that were much bigger than these new phones.
